But the most sensible reason is - the Ukrainians havevbeen trageting air assets over this last week and a half, paving the way for the F16s they are about to start using. A new batch of pilots have just passed training, and those jets will be in the air in the next few weeks. The aid package from the states, along with all the new funding from the west is going to enable to push the Russians right back to the border in most places. I expect the Kerch is high on the agenda, as well as pusing the Russians out of Crimea and securing their southern border.

Isn't it pathetic that those radars had no defense against conventional drones or missiles, whichever were used by Ukraine to take the Russian radars out.

The radar hit is part of Russia’s ICBM early warning system. Does it provide launch site information for conventionally rockets ? Don’t know. I’d just be a little cautious about hitting any countries ICBM defence system.
