The Russian Army has been on a rampage in the Kharkiv region since its incursion on May 10. The Russian defence ministry announced that it had captured two more villages in the region, taking the total number to 12 in 6 days. It also said that it had 'liberated' Robotnye in southern Zaporizhzhia on May 15. Ukraine's General Staff has now moved in reinforcements to the east of the Kharkiv region in Kupiansk as "extremely difficult situation" prevailed near the border town of Vovchansk. Ukrainian President has now cancelled all his abroad trips amid this Russian push. UK's defense secretary even warned that the Russian advance was a 'wake-up call' for Ukraine's allies. That suprise visit by Blinken, has changed everything for Elensky. He was probably told to get a grip with the funding structure in his inner circle, as it is becoming embarrassing as to how much is being stolen and there is no accountability for it. Perfect example is the Kharkov front. Lines of defences were supposed to have been dug and yet the Russians overran these areas very easily. Secondly Blinken made sure that Elensky can’t go travelling until the Kharkov front is stabilised. Hence Elensky cancelling any forthcoming trips for now. Zelensky canceled his foreign trips, not because of Russia’s advance, but because Zelensky becomes a legitimate target from 20 May onward. His tenure as President ends on the 20th. Instead of exposing himself to potential threats outside of Ukraine, he’s hunkering down in places where assassins can’t get ro to him. He’s in a precarious position. It’s hard to say which side wants him “eliminated “ more: the Russians, or his own military.
