Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Vietnam for talks with its communist leaders on the final stop of his two-nation tour of Asia. The visit to Hanoi follows Putin’s trip to Pyongyang where he held a rare meeting with counterpart Kim Jong Un.
The Russian president’s plane touched down at Hanoi airport where he was met on a red carpet by Vietnamese deputy PM and top party diplomat.
Analysts say that the visit to Hanoi is Putin’s way of showing that is he is not a pariah in the East. The trip comes after the US last week imposed more sanctions on Moscow and Western countries reiterated their unwavering support for Ukraine.

To be honest, no. Vietnam is a communist country. I dont expect much. I do understand the resentment toward us though. They are going to get themselves in the same conflict again, I hope those people realize that the war is not going to be in russia. It will be in Asia. Nk, Sk,VN,LAO, CN. What are you smoking? The realities of today are different. Vietnam is the biggest beneficiary of American decoupling from China. Many US manufacturing have moved from China to Vietnam in recent years. Just last year Vietnam and the US signed a strategic Partnership Agreement. As it is today, Vietnam is closer to the US than it is to Russia. Putin is simply playing catchup by trying to reawake the Cold War rhetoric to prove to the West that he's still relevant in the East. Of course, Vietnam doesn't lose anything by at least being friendly to Russia after all the Govt in Vietnam still claims to be "communist" The big reality is that Vietnam is pivoting more to the US for economic reasons and for security guarantees against its aggressive neighbor (China). They know ONLY the US can deter China NOT Russia

I'm a 72 year old Vietnam Veteran who saw what the US imperial empire did in Vietnam with my own eyes. I was born in 1949 and was lied to and brainwashed by my government since I was in the first grade. That was one reason that I volunteered for the USMC in 1969 and why I volunteered for Vietnam in 1970. But when you see what the US did in Vietnam, you cannot unsee it. And now the US is in a proxy war with Russia. I understand the Russia is responsible for invading Ukraine but the US, NATO and Ukraine are responsible for provoking Russia into invading Ukraine. I agree with you, Brian, that the only way to end this war and stop the killing is for Ukraine to capitulate and sue for peace with Russia. This war is so dangerous because of the very real risk of a nuclear exchange between the US and Russia no matter if its a miscalculation, accident or first strike. Le Vietnam s'est battu pendant 3 décennies contre les occidentaux dans les années 50 contre la France colonialiste et dans les années 6--70 contre les USA impétialiste. Le Vietnam les a vaincu tous les deux pour unifier leur pays et être souverain dans toutes les décisions qu'il est en droit de prendre. These 15 million have already served in the military or have served in the military. I don't think there is a country on Earth that can beat South Korea except the United States. Since South Korea has much more artillery shells than Europe, Putin should never provoke South Korea, and if Putin helps North Korea, Russia would be a big mistake.

While the DPRK's resilience is partly in response to U.S./UN imposed sanctions on the state and it's people, such resilience is ultimately only made possible by the strength and character of the Korean people and their culture having been civilised over millennia. There really is no need for South Korea to remain subservient to the U.S. If in doubt Yoon should also ask Vietnam.

@@baloz8974 Ukraine begging is reasonable though, they literally are facing the #2 strongest country in the world. if they didn't ask for equipment they would've ran out ages ago because they cant produce during the war with not enough AD covering the areas and just not enough production output for ammunition when they require that fuel heavily in the defense and power of its cities. Yeah Russia isn't begging but its definitely looking for new suppliers after actually nearly running low of its real cold war stocks. its been over 2 years of constant war, you can't replace losses in just a rapid pace, especially when modern equipment relies on parts around the world and is mostly not domestically made besides majority of metal/wheels.
