Well, guess what? That applies to me since I played the demo version of this game back in 2002, but never had the full version of it until a decade later in 2012. I have both the 1999 and 2007/2008 PC re-releases, but I think the 1997 and 1999 releases are more optimal for older Windows operating systems, like Windows 3.1, 95, 98, etc.
That's interesting. What really bugs me about the UK versions of the Putt-Putt games is that, both the steering wheel and the glove compartment are incorrectly positioned due to the fact the dashboard was reused from the American versions. We know many vehicles in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, etc. have the steering wheel and the glove compartment positioned differently; they should have made an adjustment to accommodate the change.
At the end of the demo, after Putt-Putt gets his history report back, He says he still needs to find his calculator, lunchbox and Pep in the full game. However, I noticed a strange oddity in the demo: Pep is with Putt-Putt throughout the whole demo. Coincidence? I think not!
The 2002 versions or the UK versions? The 2002 versions aren't rare at all, in fact they're pretty easy to find. But I never said anything about him owning the UK versions, which are rare.
@Hondo20132 I've seen the 2002 version of Putt-Putt Travels Through Time, and there's very subtle differences (the two I saw was that there's a fade in at the beginning, and during the line in the song "When you've returned, you'll know you learned", the books are colorized and not monochrome. Other than that, it's the same)
@Hondo20132 I checked out the UK demos on ScummVM, and here are the differences I noticed: Putt-Putt EtR: The song is different, Cartown Speedway is called Cartown Circuit (And it's poorly edited in as well), and the calling info on the end screen is cut SF2: The end screen was changed from the box to the Spy Fox logo FF4: The end screen was changed from the box to the opening title. It's also funny how Freddi's grunt and the scream at the end was unchanged. Did they think kids wouldn't notice?
Back before I had access to the rest of the HE library, I only had Pajama Sam 2. I played these demos endlessly. It’s weird to have more nostalgia for this than the actual game itself. I remember seeing the future area and being mesmerized by the music and the telescope. I wanted so badly to know what the rest of the future area looked like lol. Eventually I met a friend who had all the HE games about a year after I got Pajama Sam 2 so I finally was able to play them in full.
