The "Haters" as you call them, are the same one's who wear a facemask when they're home alone 😂.. And the buy huge tyres but never get within 2" of the edge 💃
A rear car tire was mentioned to me for a specific reason. I have had 3 lumbar spinal fusions in 5 years. Tbh I don't trust the strength of my legs or sometimes my back. I have a 2015 Harley Davidson Road Glide Special which is 900 lbs. I was told another guy has similar back/leg problems and has a car rear tire and when stopped it is easier to hold the bike up. I have always said I will not resort to a trike, I will do a side car before a trike any day. I love to ride and will do anything to keep riding.
Hi, I have studied this issue of car tires onto a motorcycle wheel and I see nothing wrong with doing this. I have a Yamaha V Star 650 Classic Cruiser. If you were to use a tube with a car tyre would you use a car tube or a motorcycle tyre tube. My motorcycle wheel has spokes and so I have to use an inner tube. I will probably have to use a car tube I think.
I have a mini doughnut spare tire. 155 / 65 R17. I would like to use it on My BMW K75 but the car rim is a tad too big. I will pull the tire off and measure it and see it it will fit. Might not. The Donut tires have a nice round profile and 99% of them never get used so They are all brand new. And if they fit you can pick them up at the wreckers for nothing. Everybody hates them.
My bike is a Kawasaki 1600 Nomad with a sidecar so the bike doesn't lean at all. I have a car tire that is the proper size. I had a motorcycle shop say no, then i tried to have a regular tire shop do it, but again they said no.
Good information. on 4 July 2022 I returned from a 26 day 6023 mile trip on 90 FLT now with 70,023miles, through KS, SD, ND, MT, ID, WA, OR, CA, NV, UT, CO & KS. in Utah rear tire had 17K not sure it would make it home but it did. Tire has 19, 023 miles needs replaced at $300 + labor! Kinda thinking Motorcycle tires are a ripoff. Thinking a dark side tire for rear 1990 Tour Glide FLT might be the way to go. But what size? Be safe! Thanks again.
Good job. The darkside tire on my super 10 only lasted me 13k miles. But i think that is because of pushing it a bit. Any long riding bike i get ill do the darkside.
Motorcycle tires compounds are much softer and are really grippy. I can understand for commuting and touring isn't a bad idea. Although it would make me nervous in the corners. I had an old hard tire on my bike and it was scary dangerous even though there was plenty of tread. My main concern would be how soft is the compound on that tire and how will it impact the other parts on the motorcycle. If you look especially on Modern Harley-Davidson touring bikes the contact patch in the middle of the tire is very flat. I doubt I would be able to find a tire like this that would properly fit on my motorcycle I will just for now stick with motorcycle tires.
I am going to put some of these on my Yamaha V Star 650 cruiser. I am 66 years old and I never go faster than 50 mph. You can keep paying the high prices for no reason..
