Just get a few reflectors for your coat. Way more visible than a led band. There are so many different kind of reflectors that you should find one that suits you.
@@alexisrivera7421 It's dark half of the year here so reflector vests can be found almost anywhere. "Heijastinliivi" in finnish. You can even get basic reflectors for a free in many places. Also different kind of spikes for shoes can be found in stores and the basic ones doesn't cost too much. :)
A lot of dogs, even smaller ones, are fine without boots in winter, as long as the weather is not extreme (the dogs I sometimes look after don't wear boots in winter). See how it goes! If there is a lot of grit or salt, or indeed some anti-ice stuff that caused irritation on dogs' paws in urban areas, these look like a great solution. A warm coat is a must though. Reflective things and lights are very sensible!
Sanding chips (crushed rock) and salt can be nasty stuff for paws, but icy and slippery sidewalks and roads would cause tremendous amount of accidents.
And in some places in Finland I've heared they've used some anti-freeze stuff that's really really itching on paws. Dunno what it is but I've heard some dogs reacting to it!
Please check out the NeoPaws brand (non-disposable, comfy and hard-wearing). My Lab/Huntaway cross used to use them to protect her paws when having allergy flare-ups and they also came into their own when she was scuffing her hind paws through having a neuropathy condition when she was elderly (GOLPP). Being a large girl with mobility issues during the last few months of her 15 year old life, she wore a couple of pairs out, but a small dog's boots should last for absolutely ages.
That placement for the dog bed could be a little drafty. It's practically certain there are small holes or nowadays vents in the window or its frame for the replacement air. Sure, the radiator is there to mix it with warm air but there is still going to be a slight, constant draft going down from the window (and then towards wherever the ventilation system sucks out the outgoing air). In the winter that incoming air is going to be dry and cold so your dog resting in it might get the sniffles. Also, presumably the bed would be better in some darker, peaceful corner, where your buddy could get some rest undisturbed by other goings-on.
@@blechtic she has been hiding in the closet a lot and I want her to spend more time in the big room and less time hiding so I put the bed there. Maybe I'll move it to the other side of the couch.
@@espotpod For such a small dog, you could stick it under a corner table or something and it'd give peace and privacy and might still have enough headroom. Or you could maybe keep the doggy crate accessible somewhere as her familiar calm place and have the bed as a more central, "social", resting place. It's a new place for her after all and it'll take time for her to regard it as home.
I use boots and a warm winter jacket on my dog during the winter and also a light, because it will get dark, very dark, just to add my dog is completely black. But she did very nicely with these 😊
Cookie seemed happy you didn't send her into space after all. Most of the UFO sightings are probably dogs with all the blinking lights and reflectors, I think. They often look a lot like something from the 'Encounter of the Third Kind' in the dark. And the owners need to be seen too of course. There are all kind of neat and easy to wear lights and reflectors for people too: "Pimeällä heijastin auttaa näkymään liikenteessä" and "Kuinka monta ihmistä sinä näet pimeässä?"
Maybe you could buy more comfortable shoes for Cookie from The Musti and Mirri shop in Jyväskylä ?. I think you would find better shoes for her. You don't need The shoes for a dog until The temperature is -5 -10 C. Paws of the dogs stand well a little bit colder weather. But especially the dogs with short hair need different kinds of coats during the autumn and winter. When it's not yet very cold but it's snow on The ground, your dog will love to spring there without shoes 😊🐾
I think the shoes were actually really comfortable for her. She didn't seem to mind at all when we walked on the gravel, which before I could see hurt her feet. But I will check out Musti and Mirri!
