I lost my dad in July 2010, he was my best friend and he was a minister. The first year is always the hardest. Holidays, birthday, mothers or fathers day, and the anniversary of the passing. During that time though I received alot of messages from my dad. Seeing a red cardinal bird, look up the spiritual meaning. Like finding coins with his birth year, my birth year and special times years. It was God allowing my father to just let me remember that he is still present in my life. I still talk to my father and about my father like he has never left. I will not lie and say after the first year it will get better. Because my father has been gone almost 14 years and it still feels like yesterday. You will eventually learn how to live and grow with the pain. Don't run from the pain. Embrace it , and grow with it. You will be ok by the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.
