Nicholas focus an both hype and fear around emerging technologies which often treat people as either completely dominated by tech or completely in control. Putting humans at the center means three things: distributing benefits, managing externalities, and ensuring that technology directly and indirectly empowers and augments the uniquely human aspects of ourselves. Nicholas Davis is Head of Society and Innovation and a member of the Executive Committee at the World Economic Forum in Geneva, Switzerland. Nick leads the Forum’s work on “The Fourth Industrial Revolution”, focusing on how emerging technologies could disrupt industries, labour markets, societies and governments, and how technology can be used to empower communities to create a human-centred future.
Nick is a Certified Professional Facilitator and a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts (FRSA) in the UK and previously a commercial lawyer in Australia. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

@1: 30 How can we ensure that technology helps us to be more human? @2:30 Does technology de-humanize us? @3:05 Working back from what it means to be human in the first place. @4:00 Humans as technological beings. @6:10 Three fears: Becoming redundant? Tasks just change dramatically. @8:45 4.1B people with no internet access. 2.4B No water or sanitation. 1.2B No access to electricity. 600M farmers who have not gone through the 1st Industrial Revolution.

It's been 4years you had this presentation unfortunately this is still the current issue. Social injustice and human rights issues can be addressed and should be addressed through innovations of various technologies. The concern of technology drivers while addressing advancement and commercialisation for profit making should also address humanitarian issues. We are focused on achieving that in Kaka Memorial Foundation hopefully reaching and impacting lives in Nigeria, Africa and every part of the world. The SDG are clear, wider implementation is required. While we talk about Profits, Let us all be humans first. The world can be fair to every living Human.
