Thanks guys you bring lots of great memories back to this old man. I had a 1952 74 Pan Head. It was a great bike going from English bike to the big 74. I bought it around 1958 and put lots of miles on it. Then in 61 got stupid and got married couldn't afford the woman and the bike had to sell it. Big Mistake.
no BS, no posing, just 100% authentic enthusiasts. I'm even guessing if there was music backing it wouldn't be big kerrang power chords it would be country. God bless.
Hey Matt I really liked how you and John bonded over the bike your dad gave John . It’s pretty obvious how much John thought of your dad. You guys were fortunate have your dad in your life’s. Matt you are doing great keeping your dad’s memory alive. Thank you Judd Brier
That is a great bike...For real men of genius,..lol guys that actually know beer and bikes! what a sound!!! lucky dude!! and i learned a bit more for my frankenharley Flathead custom build..
Restoring that original factory gas shut on/off valve takes me back to my first H-D -- a 1950 FL in original factory trim. Thanks Dale and John! Ride safe.
I would love to have had that blue bike that they did a giveaway on a while back that he redone and made it look all original and he just restored it but I think that he ended up putting an electric and kick start on it to make it easier for whoever won the bike and he even found another bike just like it before he did the giveaway and that bike was also restored and the same exact bike went for a very pretty penny at auction
Always come away from your program feeling that I got something for visiting , thank you for inviting people into your shop and showrooms like we are friends and neighbors.... really appreciate how you explain a interesting subject matter and the history. This is American Quality in my opinion
I love the energy and enthusiasm of these. It sends me looking for a Harley every time! Since I am currently recovering from a stroke, I still need to rehab my left hand to clutch. (Step one!)
That is one tight good looking hog .The older the better I say. Wow awesome ,this has to be one of my Loco cruising Harly. 10 on my scale, thank you guys .👍✨️❤️
This is the best platform to share the knowledge of the museum with everyone not just the lucky ones that are actually able to visit u guys in Maggie Valley great job Matt
My uncle built a Shovelhead hot rod motorcycle from the ground up with a springer front end that has been a little raked and stretched but not overly crazy and he didn't rake and stretch the front end but whoever he bought it from did and they did such a good job doing it you can't even tell unless you know what you're looking at because there is no weld marks or anything and it's an original springer front end too and after they got done modifying it they had it rechromed and everything all my uncle had to do was bolt it onto his bike that was an original Shovelhead frame that was also raked and stretched on the neck of the frame and he put a 180mm rear tire and a 21in front tire on it and he put the same fenders on it as the bike behind the Panhead and coming from a family that builds and races motorcycles and drag cars he didn't leave the engine stock on the Shovelhead he ended up making it have alot more horsepower and go alot faster than they did stock and a friend of his has an all original 40 something Knucklehead trike that has the original paint job and everything and he lives in Texas and he rides it to Bike Week in Daytona, Florida every year and his wife rides with him as well on the back and the trike still only 😮has the original kick start no electric start at all on it😅
WOW💨💥....This what it's all about riding the road...Man i miss riding my bikes down the road....But i am to old ans weak now.... Thanks Matt & John 👍 Shoe🇺🇸
Cool bike since I began watching these videos, I’m starting to want a Panhead. My dad’s was a 52 or 53, with the black lower legs as well. Even my birth year bike is a Panhead. I believe his was blue, recall my grandmother showing me a picture when I was younger. By the time we were riding together I had forgotten about the Panhead. After he passed I found some pictures, his funeral was 60 years to the day of the first Panhead image.
So happy I jumped onto these guys/this channel.. Been binging this content for a few weeks now and am absolutely gobsmacked by Matt’s enthusiasm and the honesty and genuine love for these machines from everyone involved In their caretaking. I’ve been into motorbikes for near 40 yrs and have had a plethora of bikes. Always loved the lines of old Harleys and I’m getting my education here-who knows maybe one day I’ll get a barn find up and running.. Until then I’ll ride my Newer HD and hopefully point it in the Wheels through Time direction sooner than later. Cheers
Nice, I ended up using two fibre washers and some yellow gas thread tape to stop my 46 knuckle from leaking. Might have to get that special tool though for the future.
Awesome to see and hear a great old road burner back in action...Pictured is me on my 73 FX Superglide custom the engine has been 91ci for many years... It's quite capable of pegging the ol'fun meter...keep'em coming...
thank you, building a '49 EL, just a beginner, every detail is so important, from the guy who makes those fuel tank inserts to the gasket goo you use. Maybe can you fly up to northern Canada and give me a hand for a weekend? We have great beer up here...ride highway 93...
I have a recipe in my head for a Hardtail conversion to a 1200 Sportster, or if I wanna be really dumb, an 883 with a Hammer 1275, set up like the late '40's-'50's STYLE. Seeing this Bike, I would absolutely love to do it as a Tribute. No I wouldn't waste the Original parts on a modern Bike. Plenty of Aftermarket stuff to pay homage.
Alright, so. As I was starting to watch this video, I realized that I've seen this bike before. I took 3 photos of the tank way back in November of 2013 when I visited the museum.
My dudes such a sweet rat rod old 48 , my uncle mort had an 1939 Harley , I really want to build a Harley Davidsons bike from Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man , can you please offer me some advice as to what year that bike was and model , please 🙏 I need help with just that to get an idea for where to start cause it’s got to be as close to movie correct as possible 😊thank y’all
Very cool. Why does it look like Matt is twisting the throttle the wrong way to rev it? Did these bikes have a different type of throttle than the bikes I'm used to? Or is that just an optical illusion?
There's no throttle return spring on these old bikes. When you see him turn it forward he's manually shutting the throttle down. Works good as a cruise control too. ✌️🇨🇦
