If you use a Bundt pan and put the cob on the hole in middle, cut off and it will go into the pan. Less mess.

I've seen people do that before, but I don't have a bundt pan. LOL!

Just a suggestion, use a bunt cake pan. Put the tip of the corn in the hole of the pan and cut the kernels off. It make it more steady for cutting and the kernels fall into the pan. Hope this works well for you.

I learned from food network. Place a small bowl upside down in a large bowl and place corn on top of small and cut off cob. The kernels fall into large bowl. Less mess. 😊 I no longer blanch my corn, such a time saver.

I’ve found turning a small metal bowl upside down inside a large metal bowl & cutting the corn on top of the small bowl keeps the corn better corralled. We had corn that had been vacuumed sealed for 2 years. It was as sweet & delicious as the day we picked them!

To save some mess, I place is a large bowl in the sink and put a small bowl inverted in the large bowl. I then put the corn ear on the small bowl and cut the kernels off. Seems to do a pretty good job of keeping the corn mess contained.

Earth, wind, fire, one of my favs, but we do that also and it tastes just like you just picked it in the garden. You got quite a few of harvest of corn. I put the cob in Bundt pan so it cuts safely. Tangy you are doing a fantastic job from garden to harvesting.👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🌽🌽🌽

Great video! I like that you showed how to cut the corn off the cob. So many people don't know how to do that or cook, to show it in the videos is great. I had a young person ask me how to make mashed potatoes. At first I thought, "WHAT?" but then I started thinking of all the other young people who were never taught or wanted to learn, that now need to know. I try to explain steps in my videos too. Thank you for your great videos. And I think I will put the corn on the smoker tonight :)

Can't wait to see how the vacuum sealing worked without blanching. We have always blanched then cut off the cob. just another note, use a bundt pan if you have one. My MIL showed me this. it works great. puts the cob up a bit, and then catches the corn/juice so it is a bit more faster. Then can move to a bowl or something. the cob fits right on the hole of the bundt pan. I love "fresh" frozen corn from vacuum bags. Thanks for the video!

We get 12 dozen ears of sweet corn from a local farmer. I bag them in quart Ziploc freezer bags, because we use about half a quart per meal and that allows us to store the leftovers in the bag. We full the bags about 2/3 full to allow for expansion. I cut mine in a 9x13 Pyrex to keep the corn from going anywhere. I also like the other comment of using a cookie sheet. Great idea! That will feed us for a year. With another adult in the house, I'm thinking about doing 13-14 dozen this year. We used to do 4 dozen a weekend for 3 weekends by going to our local farmers market. This year, I'm going to the farm stand and get them all at once on a Friday night. We'll get the family to help process them Saturday morning and just be done. I haven't bought corn, other than corn on the cob, for about 4 years. It's so good!

I was thinking about using a pie plate, but a cookie sheet would be great too. No need to dirty a bowl then either.

I've tried pie plates before, but the lip on the plate is so high that it I had to cut down as far as I could, and then turn it upside down to cut the top. Not a big deal, but it adds a step.

We use the bowl like in the background or a sheet cake pan, and put either a large cup or slender bowl in it turned upside down so the kernels fall in the bowl. And its easier for me to use a paring knife for control too

Don’t know if someone’s already suggested this, but to fill the quart bags, maybe put them in a glass and fold the top over the side of glass. Won’t have to hold the bag then.

I’ve successfully frozen in freezer plastic bags, not vacuum sealing. If used in a reasonably length of time, works fine. No blanching. I think of all the years I did the old way, oh my. Peggy

We vacuum seal ours with just the ends cut off and the shucks still on. The reason being, you can throw it in the Microwave for a couple minutes and it steams in the husks. Ta-da! Or you can soak them for 15 min to wet the husks and throw them on the grill!! Yummy

Oh Tangi! Yesterday my friend called me up and asked if I wanted some sweet corn. They had a bumper crop. She'd already put up all they needed and they were still trying to get rid of 400+ ears of corn 😨. So I took some thinking I could whip out my new Vacuum Sealer and make quick work of it. Nope!!! I needed this video. I ended up vacuum sealing 3 bags and the rest I canned. I'm so glad you made this video. Now I know what to do for the next round. Thanks so much for sharing.

I never blanch my freezer corn. My mom didn’t either, that is about the only thing that I can or freeze that would be considered “rebel”. But we absolutely love it just cut off the cob then milk it and put it in the bag and freeze. It is the very best corn in my opinion! I hope you like yours as well! Also just a hint, I use a 9x13 pan to catch my corn in so it doesn’t scatter , I also cut mine outside, I hate the sticky mess all over the kitchen😉, I can be messy!

Enjoyed this video. I haven't tried to grow corn (yet) but this will be helpful if I want to put some up that I buy. I read some where that you can put a small bowl upside down inside a larger bowl and cut the corn off on top of the small bowl - theoretically at least it's supposed to go into the larger bowl. Haven't tried that yet myself but sounds like it might work.

Hi, first time viewer here...I saw you in the Recommended column to the right, and wanted to ask a question: Have you tried to on-the-cob frozen cob yet...to see how it compares to the baggie cut corn?? I 'do' enjoy corn on the cob, but I don't have room in my freezer to do that for future use unfortunately, and the store-bought frozen corn on the cob comes out mushy when cooked. : / When I was little, my father had a farm and grew tomatoes and corn; my mom and her Mennonite best friend used to join forces for a long work day to process their corn (off the cob), using a plastic dish washing pan...with a cutting board in the bottom to protect it. It caught everything, the corn was easy to scoop up, and there was room to maneuver inside. When the processing was done for the day, the dish pan was washed for its next kitchen use. Very practical I thought. I'd be very interesting in your taste test. Thanks! : )
