Putting Wider Tires on a Z51 C6 Corvette - 305/35x19 - VLOG

My 2008 C6 Z51 4LT came from the factory with 285/35/19 tires on it but i need more to hook up on a launch. I chose the Michelin Pilot Super Sport 305/35/19 tires to see how they would do. They fit great and no scrubbing or traction issues so far!
UPDATE: Due to the larger diameter of the tire I have had the traction warning come up when I am in excess of 140mph. This is the only time i have seen it pop up.

Keep in mind this vid and info applies to C6 base cars only. I like your vids bcuz you get right to it. This vid applies to the base narrow body C6 only. Good info that I wanted to know. Now I can get 305s. To add to this info, 315 35 17 M/T drag radials on 17 inch rims work fine with no rubbing. My 17" rear rims look exactly like the stock chrome rims.

I went up to 305 35 19 as well and it fits perfectly! Looks a lot better too. Nice video.

Look 4 some 325 forties or 45s 19 don't know if I have to have spacers or not on a C5 but I got 19 way around

I put a345 drag radial on HRE 3 piece wheels on my c6 z06 and looks great does not rub a hooks up, and I put my old z06 wheel 325 on my sons c5 coup. They stick out a little on his I might have to go down to a 305 also.

I have 325 looking for towels a lot to go on same type of wheels you have. Looking for Z 06 back wheels to put those tires. I got 19 is all away around I got C5 triple black convertible period like to to get these wheels before I dies I'm 7 5 had a stroke 8 years ago but I still drive but I have to get everything done now only got one hand

I lowered my c6 with the stock bolts but I can’t find the right tire size tires? My wheel size are 18 on the front and 19 on the rear.

Did you only swap out the rear tires? When the warning light comes on at 140mph+, does traction control kick in? Does the light come off on its own when you slow down? Can these wider tires be placed on the stock rims? Can Traction control be disabled with the vettes? I'm like a little kid asking questions but I want to purchase a 2008/9 Z51 (in another year or two) and place larger diameter tires on it, front and rear. Thanks!!

What is your too code for your interior. I'm looking at buying a c6 and it has the same interior as yours

I'll have to check and see. I know most of the 4LT packages have this interior color combo and only the 4LT has two tone.

Hi Jim Great Video! Have you had anymore traction control lights or just that one over 140? When that light goes on did it do anything or just warn you? Been looking to do this to my c6 with the same size and make tires , I have the original Goodyear run flats with 16k on them ( I have done alot of research also) , your car looks great! Jim when it comes time you can change out your front tires to 255 40 18 Michelin pilot ss and that should bring you back( sidewall height )into traction control tolerances eliminating that light. Also did you notice a big speedometer change? Looking forward to your reply! Thx Tom

Hey Tom! I have not noticed any other issues with the larger diameter tires. I also recently found out from my mechanic that he can adjust the size ration in the computer to keep the issue from happening all together! He is using HpTuners for that. Also I checked me speed against my GPS and i am only a couple mph off from normal even at around 65mph. I plan on staying with a skinny tire in front to reduce drag since I race my car. I really really like the ET SS by Mickey Thompson. If i remember right the tread compound on those was going to put me in a soft tire class and plus they aren't high speed rated. I tend to hit 160+ every weekend and have hit 180+ a couple times. I wanted to make sure whatever I got would be safe for the high speeds. They are def great tires though. I was surprised that these Michelins don't spin much at all even with traction off.

i want to go from 285 to 305 in my rear too, but i have a 20' rims 10.5. deep should i do 30 in height or 35 in height like yours?

With the 20 inch wheels it will make a significant size difference. Are your current tires a 285/30 or 285/35?

@@Archerboy6228 ok heres the calculations: 285/35x20 = 27.9" diameter 305/35x20 = 28.4" diameter 305/30x20 = 27.2" diameter The 35 would fit and would only be 0.5" taller (1/4 inch top and 1/4 inch bottom). I would go with that to fill in the gap more. Unless the car is lowered.

They are 285/35/19 on the car not 285/35/20

I think the 305/30/20 is just a letting bigger then the 285/35/19
