RU-vid can be a dream job, but sometimes in order to make it a job you need to sacrifice what made you love it in the first place which I can certainly say for me personally, isn't worth it. Totally respectable man, I wish you well for whatever future endeavours you end up pursuing!
I found your channel when you had 4000-8000 subs (cant remember exactly) and my first thought was "this guy is going places" so I subbed. I know I don't comment often, just not what I do on here, I watch and like mostly, but I have loved seeing how the channel and you changed over the years. People change, I'm not the same person I was when I found your content and neither are you, don't get stuck in a rut, grow and be an individual. I'm glad you can be open and honest about this, your channel feels like nothing else I can find on youtube and I love it, the way you tell stories and everything else is super engaging. Your channel helped me make one of my first friends when I moved highschool when we ended up talking about your channel, that would have been over 5 years ago now and its crazy to think about. Your videos on psychedelics really helped me think about them in different ways, and really made me open my eyes about how complicated and deep these topics can be. Your van vlog content has been amazing to watch and it has allowed me to build up the courage to go on trips on my own and explore the United States (I am from Australia so it was a long flight haha). I am here now on an exchange and I definitely understand why you love van life so much! I have been supporting you on patreon for over a year at this point and I dont regret it at all, I am always happy to give money so I can help support someone who is as genuine and entertaining as you (I did ghost you on there when you sent me a message though sorry, I just realised :|). Barry I’m really gonna miss you. I’ve been watching your videos for 6-7 years now and I’ve really grown to like your personality. I watch all of your videos even the reviews of bikes that I will never buy just to hear the way you talk. You see when I started watching you in high school I was a really shy kid and was very introverted m. Hearing your stories about how you go with the flow and strike up a conversation with everyone you meet along the way has encouraged me to begin to do the same. Not to mention that you got me into computers and photography as well. I don’t want this to sound weird or anything but you really did help me grow as a person and you inspired me a lot. Super late to comment on this as I am never one to comment but I was rewatching all your videos so I'm back here. When I found your channel i was 11 years old with my xbox 360, I got into PC's and grew up with your videos all the way into big 18 year old me now, a hardware technician, a hardware technician because my idol Barry was a hardware technician. It's absolutely amazing to see how you've grown, weird enough to say I almost looked at you like an older brother. Good luck in your journeys and thank you for how much you taught me.

Damn Barry, I'm so glad to see you doing your own thing, I started watching you for the console peasant quotes and the interesting stories, then I came back a few years later when you switched up your channel with the irl stuff and I check in on your channel here and there. I too used to be way more into pcs but I just dont have that passion anymore, I'm glad youre not forcing yourself to stick to the old you especially because youre a good person. I learned a lot growing up watching your videos. I really wanted to be like you, your fun stories, your intelligence, charisma, positivity and resilience whenever you had problems. You were probably one of my first heroes I ever had which maybe is dumb but you are just the human being I wish I could be. I remember that one time on stream you actually read my comment and appreciated what I said, obviously chasing validation from another human isn't healthy but you always replied to people and engaged with them in a way that showed you really gave a shit about the people who were watching you. It felt authentic. Whatever is next for you, I hope you get the good ending 👍

If making videos isn't what you want to do, if you aren't enjoying every bit of it, definitely, dedicate your time to something else. Hell, I've changed a ton in the last few years. I went from building my first PC in 2021, to using it less than ever and instead putting most of my time towards other projects. Hi, Barry! I used to watch your videos a while back and there was a time when I'd watch every upload as soon as it came out. I was there when you tried to rename the Console Peasant Quotes series, around the 10th episode, though I can't remember what you renamed it to. I'm still using the computer I built when you inspired me to do so (it has a CPU AND A GPU) and I've built at least 4 others for family at this point. Many videos featured in this one, I remember fondly to this very day. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the good memories, and wish you good luck in your future endeavors. I hope that by the time I've finished watching the 5 years of backlog, you will upload again.

Honestly it's completly unexpected and even kind of hurts to see where this channel ended up compared to around 2016. Nothing good lasts forever, but i'm happy I got to experience it and the content still exists.

I had the privilege to play with you on stream many years ago, it was both the scariest and most amazing thing I have ever did while streaming as I got to play with someone that I looked up to, I am grateful for what you did for me at the time, you were much bigger than me, but that never stopped you from interacting with me and making me feel welcome, I have never forgotten that moment even after many years of not streaming, it was the best moment in my time as a streamer. One of the best things about you is that you were part of the community, no matter how big you got, you still found time to talk to us, you were always transparent.
