live here and have for 49 yrs. work for the city too! been in same dept for 23 yrs. love my job, love my city! BUT… the last few yrs have really seen a decline in homeless and crime. sure hope it eventually turns around. it’s a shame really. 😢
In 1981, My dads restaurant and other small business started the farmers market in the parks parking lot. Every weekend we pushed the stainless steel corn cob stand down the alley to the farmers market. We sold alot of buttered honey. In 1984, my dads restaurant failed, we lost our gig harbor house because it was collateral for the restaurants down payment and parents divorced. It was a nightmare! The shutting down of meridian cut the restaurants customers off. My dad should have sued the city.
@@Supra1997Jp as someone who has lived in Puyallup my whole life I would not recommend someone move here. The only thing keeping me here now is my elderly parents. It makes me sad too, because Puyallup used to be a great place to call home and still has many things I like about it. But crime has exploded and I don't feel safe in my town anymore. My sister's landlord was murdered in their yard downtown. Multiple active shooter cases. Brawls and people carrying guns at the mall. Every parking lot is a target to thieves.
Im really thinking about buying a home there soon. Im in between buying one there or in a city in Oregon. Have you ever been to Oregon? if so, Wich do you prefer ?
To be honest, I would take a look at Vancouver WA. It's just across the Columbia River from Oregon and if you do your research it would be the best of both.
@@brianc939 I’ve lived here since I was born over 40 years ago. It’s gone downhill quite a bit the last ten years. Still okay to live in, but crime is rising, garbage lots of places, homeless downtown. I think it’s gotta a lot worse the couple of months since a bill passed in the state that makes in harder for cops to do their job. Criminals are emboldened. Lots of property crime.
