I have no educated idea what is going on. I can only think of dominance? I remember Gatsby acting as LuLu’s hairdresser, but never remember her doing the side jump. I love them all, but Lumi owns my heart. 🩷❤️💜🩷❤️

I am sorry that you go through this, and I am happy that piggies help you feel better. Piggies are perfect creatures and they always made me smile in my saddest times. I will say that they always made me feel better when I could hug and cuddle their soft fur and give them kisses.

What Fitz is doing is very common and a mounting behavior (similar to the traditional way). I have seen hundreds of piggies do this and I always say "you're doing it wrong, you know" and laugh. Mostly male piggies do it but female piggies also show dominance behaviors so it is not odd (just odd position). I had one piggy that would do it completely backwards and then would get confused. Just like when Leo McKern said "Beatles iz crazy peoples" in Help, "Piggies iz crazy potatoes"! And YES, they do groom each other. Eating hair is different than grooming hair.

@donie, I believe that's the problem. If Lumi is peeing on Fitz and Fitz is pulling her hair out, that's an unhappy G. PIG imo. Fitz needs to wind her neck in.

4 ladies and one castrated male in my home. 1 of the lady sometime, although not regularly, copies male's behavior and tries to climb other backs from different angles, but she does not have the knowledge or equipment for the job, so she just hangs like that for the inconvenience of the piggy below. She also chirps like every second heat she has and is really annoying during that one day for the rest of the group. I think its natural, your group changes a lot so they learn on their behavior and exprience. I had 2 at start now i have 5 and I can clearly see that they to thing they never did before adopting new members

Our guinea pigs did the same. I always thought to annoy each other to get the spot the other pig was sitting. Because I saw it mostly when they were at the hay rake or other nice food sources.

Maybe a bit of bullying. Or as other herd/ pack animals do, as the members get older the younger ones start to push the older ones down the hierarchy... ? I've never noticed this with any of mine over the years..

The hair eating is called barbering some do it because they are bored or as a show of dominance.

To me it seems like maybe the ladies are shaking up the hierarky a little bit? The sideways mount seems like a dominance thing to me, esp if there is rumbling and chasing. If it's not that, and it has come all of a sudden, not to spook you, but could it be a sign of pain? I know our piggies showed signs of just kind of bullying eachother more than usual if they feel uncomfortable for some reason. If you have a vet you trust you could always take her in for a small checkup if you find it problematic?

When my Betty was new to us, her elderly cage mate Amy was really being barbered at the back and it took us a while to notice. Amy was a satin Abyssinian. What worked here, and for the wooden furniture, was to spray a solution of water and lemon juice on whatever was so interesting. (A bit of a surprise for Amy as I didn't think through to the cold water hitting her behind unexpectedly). However, Betty stopped this behaviour. I suppose wiping the victim with a cloth wetted in lemon water might work as well. Betty still seems to like chewing fabrics - pulling on the fleeces but she doesn't get enough threads for it to be a danger. It obviously satisfies her/releases some tension but I would really appreciate some advice.

My guinea pig Sweet Pea used to mount like a normal pig, from behind, but after many times of being peed on, she started doing this. Poor Coco just has to try to buck her off now. Thankfully, she's not done it in a while.

I was slightly "alarmed" at Fitz's chasing of Lumi a few videos back. She's being too dominant IMHO. "Time out" worked for my bullish boar guinea pig, until he'd calmed himself down. I wonder if speying one might help? And Fitz losing some weight might help, too much energy? She just needs extra exercise with someone who isn't fearful and away from the rest of the herd for an hour. Wilby would be purfect for this. Little Miss Fitz needs to behave better cause it's beginning to look like bullying x
