Nice job! I have similar system, but I use the PVC pipes simply mounted on 2x4"s as an external frame to stabilize my metal Midwest fencing so I don't need as many rungs. Also, I used vinyl waterproof locking flooring that come in 48"x 8.5" sections that are easy to take up and stack in a vehicle for transport.
I've been looking for a good sturdy playpen for my puppies, and yours is thee best! You should put a patent on that before someone steals your fabulous invention. You should sell these too! Thanks!
Thats what we were going to do. But since we have a Rottweiler, and German sheppard we're going this route. However, i think we'll just drill out all the holes instead of getting a bunch of the T connectors. We definitely would just stick with the lattice, as it would definitely work for puppies and smaller breeds but im not sure about our dogs lol haha. Ours is quite a beast.lol

Thank you for this, I am in the process of ordering what I need. However, in your explanation to figure out the amount of the 3/4" Tees, you say determine the area and then divide that by the size of the 3/4" Tees. The word 'area" needs to be changed to "length". For example for a 10' square enclosure, you would need to take 10'x4=70', convert that to inches, 70' x 12" = 840". Divide 840"/3.125 (the standard length for a 3/4" tee is 3 1/8", this may vary slightly brand to brand) = 269. Since you need tees on the top and bottom, double that number, so you would need approximately 538 Tees. Also, it would be really helpful to list the parts for your custom door. I'm pretty sure I figured them out, but that was after pausing, taking a screen shot, and then figuring out what I think the pars are. I know very little about plumbing and PVC products.
I work at Home Depot and was looking through our inventory trying to think of a way I could make a pee proof indoor dog pen and I thought PVC pipe would be perfect! So glad you made this video so I could make my vision come to life!

I know this is a few years old Jan 8, 2018 but other than making a puppy area I'm working on making DOG PENS (10 x 30) & won't need all the spindles when I'm going to use 2x4 wire for the fencing part, glad I found your video on this that way I can show my hubby what I'm looking at doing so he has a idea. 💓
Can you break down exactly how much of everything you used? I really love this idea! It could work really well as an ex pen for an RV space at an RV park. It's not heavy and easily broken down. Genius! We travel for my husbands job and I really want to make one. Thank you for sharing!

My female's heat was altered (wasn't due till Dec/Jan) and to our surprise, had a litter Nov 16, 2017.We kept 3 and are in dire straits for a pen EXACTLY this size,so they're NOT separated from one another and were just discussing today 4/2/18, "what are we going to do"?I HATE the idea of metal cages that won't accommodate the 3 together because they are so closely bonded, and the thought of that metal possibly hurting them if it's stability is compromised. makes my heart sink, especially having heard horror stories of mangled dogs from mangled metal cages.YOU are SOOOO MAGNIFICENT! My great room will accommodate this size beautifully, and is EXACTLY what we were looking for! Hubby works in our city's utility department, and knows very well ALL the products you have used and that we'll have to get.... Did I hear you say you used 280 of the 3/4 PVC Tees? (I see the list of supplies in the description section, but not the amount of parts) I clicked the link for those tees and it is showing $4.50 for a pack of 10. so, $126.00 just for the 3/4 tees, is that correct?, $2.71 per each 10 ft PVC pipe - I will need a minimum of 70 pieces for the 280 tees...so that is another $189.70. That is 315.70 so far and I still need to purchase the rest. Was yours this expensive? Thanks!
Linda Moore hey thanks for the questions. Yes I used 280 tees. I just used the Lowe’s link for reference for the part. It was much cheaper for me to order them through a plumbing supply company. Lowe’s had the best price on the pipe when I bought mine.
Fantastic idea! My dogs are hyper and jump on their fence, could you put sand (or something) in the pipes to add weight? I’m thinking something similar with the wood flanks on the bottom, but minus the vinyl flooring.
I was searching for diy puppy stuffs and your vid was suggested. Not a puppy thing but I like it cause I also used PVC on the puppy scooter video I did. This is a great idea for a customize sized enclosure :)

I was thinking of building something like this. I already have a midwest metal play pen but my dog can scale it pretty easily due to the horizontal stability bars in the paneling. I was hoping the all berticle bars would prevent that and then making a diy rolling pen on top with 3/4 inside a 1 1/2 pipe so it will roll them.off if they try jumping. All of those tees would be so.expensive though...

somehow (my kids) ended with 3 new yorkipoo poodles and my old faithful dachshund 8yo. these are sume jumpers, chewers, and pee'ers that i need to build this for, i read and calculated by your instructions above and came up 1,152 tees????? however you said you used approx 280... i clearly did some erroneous calculations. 8x8 should be no more than about 300 tee's?? sorry im a lil confused
Do you have plans for the gate? I followed you pretty well, but am a much more visual person. I breed shelties and border collies, and have wanted a very expensive pvc pen but I can't afford it. Great pen!

Was there a reason you went with T fittings instead of using larger pipe for the horizontal top and bottom rails and using a hole saw to cut a hole for the vertical rails to slip into? Seems like that would save a good bit of money due to the cost of the T fittings.
Yes several reasons. The main reason was so I could easily disassemble it and reconfigure it if I need to. If I would have just used pipe and drilled out all the connections it would would only been usable in that one configuration. I use some of the sections for other needs when not in use for a litter.
Omg, glad I found your video. Great job first off. Trying to think of a way to build something similar but instead of a pen, I need to build a single wall that’s about 10 feet long. Trying to decide if I anchor to the walls or if I install 2-4 legs to keep it stable and upright. 🤔
@@kidzwizpadz Sorry for the extremely late reply, dont seem to get notifications for messages on youtube. I built the gate. Biggest problem I have is my dog has learned to jump up on the gate and because its only a wall, it will push over and has started to come apart. I have it anchored to 2x4s like he does and then used the same pvc clamps/bracket to anchor it to the wall. Even with that my dog jumps up on it and can knock it over. I dont know if the overall fix is to build the pen squared like he did (which was not an option in my apartment space) or what. Almost seems like I would have had to basically frame a half wall for support/rigidity. Now Ive come to a crossroads where I will be moving into my first house in the next month or so and need to find a solution once again. I was going to just frame a half wall pen and anchor it to the walls and concrete like a legit wall, but as it turns out, I would need to get a permit to do this and dont know if I want to deal with that process. Which leaves me with one option. Building a pen squared like he did. Again the biggest problem is my dog jumping on the gate and possibly taking it down. Honestly dont know what to do at this point. Sorry, this doesnt really answer your question, I was unable to work solution given the space to keep a wall stable. Gluing the gate added weight pulling on the gate pieces that make the t-s separate. Totally open to suggestions if anyone has any?
Good video. Not what I was looking for unfortunately. I, like you can't find anyone who has made a video for what I am wanting to do. I have a plastic portable electric fence for my chickens, and I want to figure out how to make a portable walk thru gate that I can move with the fencing. The fence sticks in the ground in a complete circle, but it's a royal pain in the arse to get in and out to collect eggs and do feeding and such. Guess I will have to just keep looking. :(
