Ik I’m complaining about someone else’s opinion, but I play a Breton Templar Tank and it’s pretty good, part of being a tank is making sure you don’t die and templars help with that with their healing line.
You're being very generous with Nightblade in this video. What's wrong with NB? 1) Useless tank. 2) Useless dps. 3) Mediocre healer. 4) Zero class fantasy. 5) Doesn't feel like an assassin class. 6) ESO's "assassin" class has almost 0 assassin themed abilities. 7) ESO's "assassin" class does not know how to use a bow and has 0 options for a ranged bow assassin build. 8) Absolutely must use Relequen's, Nirn and Kjalnar's or Zaan's just to do mediocre damage. Any other set usage results in massive damage loss. 9) Zenimax hates ESO in general, but especially hates the Nightblade class. 10) Nightblade is a dumpster fire.
@@bradturner7678 It's been my main since ESO's launch and I've always loved them, but they're in the worst spot currently that they've ever been and it's really bad. The most complicated class in the game has to work much harder than any other class just to get bare bones mediocre dps, meanwhile the Arcanist can just stand there and spam beam and be more useful than NB.
@@Bumbum_Inspector I'm in the same boat. NB is my main but it is by far my worst class of all my alts, which I have played for far less time. The aoe is non existant, the ST is medicore at best, ranged builds are dead, stamblade is dead, worthless tank, not even an meta healer choice anymore. too hard to play. I like nothing about this class but it's my main. I don't even like it in pvp because despite it being strong it is far harder to play than warden or DK. They could delete NB and nothing would change in the meta.

It's a tragic state that Nightblade is currently in and I really wish instead of doing the Arcanist, they instead went back to the other classes and rebalanced them, rebalanced the weapon skill lines, and gave all class skill lines and weapon skill lines 2-3 brand new abilities to play with. I really don't get why they don't add new abilities to the game to give people more options and playstyles.
i wish i liked arcanist more. I just wish runeblades was worth using as a spammable but as it stands, it seems like tentacle is superior in every way. That one morph is stacked with good effects.

Playing another class with the ring like templar or magblade seems to be more of a "convenience" thing than a necessity but that might just be me still trying to figure it out.
I'll take my Garbage Templar Tank :) any day and continue to plow thru Vet Content with ease while supplying the groups with a plethora of Buffs.. All these videos about Meta and crap all comes down to the Player. Any Player can master any content with almost any class. Best of Luck!
Why would you pick a templar tank over a dk with stone giant and a necro with collosus and the best survivability in the game, templar brings no damage increase to the group that a templar dd or healer can't already bring

I play with a necro tank and tbh, ive been able to duo through all pve content in the game fairly easy with my friend as a magblade. even ran Inf arch without trouble for About 20+ stages due to its awesome sustain and res skills. Highly reccomend making a necro tank.
4:52, I made a Nightblade tank and pretty much run with maximum hp with buffs on my 2nd bar. And as 1 of the few NB health tanks youll never see, I whole heartedly agree.
Other classes, particularly DK got over buffed and entered into a tier of its own in terms of dps. Additionally, all the things NB provides can now be provided easily by other sources. Finally, it's the most complicated class to play and just to get NB to work at an average level requires more work than any other class which is complete bs.
dungeon tanks - i think necro tank can be S tier because of resurect ult (can res 3 players) if you can survive well as tank you can carry vet hardmodes like this (even if its not pretty) also Arcanist dungeon dps should be S tier, in dungeons there is a lot AoE + boss moves more from place to place and Arcanist DPS can deal well with both things

Spell Power Cure, Elemental Catalyst Magcro healer. Velothi Ur, Dark Elf, one bar DMG, one bar NECRO heal skills. Destro/Resto. Push the damage, feed corpses for the cheap heals. Fantastic in 4 man content. I did VHM Unhallowed last night no issues. Breton Arcanist. Velothi, Apocryphal Inspiration, Spell Power Cure. 40k parse on a 21 mill as a healer. I walk in, Arcanist Domain, Healing orb, throw out my bubbles. Usually have 3 crux, bar swap, beam. Anyone takes any damage while in my beam, bar swap, refresh. I throw healing synergies on one bar, and the best DD synergy in the game in the front bar. My tank has 45% recovery on all 3 stats if he's in my Arcanist circle with me. I can keep 100% uptime on over 600 free weapon and spell damage. Quit telling these new players there's NO way to play these classes and play them WELL. I will NEVER set foot in a VHM trial simply because I KNOW they'll say something about my build. My guild loves my weird builds. I know I'm not 85-100k deeps on a parse, cuz who fkn cares? I love Elder Scrolls. Slash builds have been a staple of the series since it's inception. Yes, slash builds require skill, patience, and creativity. But I'd rather have a gimped character I created to run the content I enjoy than try and fit in with a group of people who say there's literally only 3 good classes in the game.
I used to no life ESO but I haven't played in a really long time, I'm changing to ps5 to join my friends (they've been really busy the past few years so I been on pc) but since I haven't played in so long I was wondering, what would be a better healer a Necro (what I have on pc and enjoy) or a arcanist in your opinion
If you're new to the game remember that the "best" class or "meta" as they call it keeps changing from patch to patch, so what's now "garbage" may be "S-tier" later. Just pick a class you like that is fun to play. Having fun playing is far more important than min-maxing for certain content
eso is pretty alt friendly compared to other games so just make one of everything! You can send gear to an alt and chances are it'll still be pretty good since most classes can use similar sets to their benefit.

my main was a templar, made him a tank over the years try to follow guides and make it viable and i feel like no matter what, i found it difficult to tank as more DLC dungeons released, im like okay im going to make a dk tank and man i feel like alot of those dungeons i was struggling with was a breeze. thinkning of making my templar a stam dps and making my magsorc a tank. This was informative, and kinda wish i made an stamarcanist than a stamblade after seeing this
for solo play, mag necro is garbage tier. After maining it for soloing stuff for over a year, I decided to switch it up and try some other classes for solo dungeons. Even with half-assed builds and sets, EVERY other class did miles better than my necro did. I've since abandoned that class and unfortunately, much of my desire to play went with it. I hope they can do something with the class to make it better.
I’ve mained necro for a few years now and back when I took my last hiatus during sometime near the high isle release it was an S tier. Did something happen to it?
@@JCrushFitness in group content, it can be useful for its ult, but there are now sets that can also fulfill that niche. I am speaking from a solo perspective; arenas, dungeons etc. Necromancer, especially magicka, is lacking in a lot of areas. Spirit Guardian took a nerf, and other skills are either very situational, buggy or just rubbish in general. It can still do well in organized group content with group buffs helping it but alone, it is probably the worst class in the game for solo by quite a margin.
Made my first character and got to CP 90 just in the past two weeks. It was a Mag Necro. I made a Sorcerer alt for fun it was immediately more pleasurable to use. I'm so bummed I spent time and money on necro
same, been a templar main since day one granted now i have 3 templars and at least 2 of every class (excluding ONE night blade) but i have invested heavily into him and he can fullfil any role very well.
I'm like this with on nightblade healing. Everyone wants my warden but i put my foot down and said "no you're getting a nightblade." Been pretty fun getting hardmodes and stuff in content and some content really tests me as a healer since i play a less than optimal healer class

New player now L160 CP 500 something. I only have experience with the Dragonknight and I picked DK for no particular reason after quickly reading the specs. And I am so glad I did. I am mostly a solo player and I saw I can play some seriously hard content on solo if my setup/skills are good. And I learned to make a really good setup of my favorite companion Isobel as a 1- Tank/2- Healer. The skills and the order of the companion skills on the bar make a huge difference in performance. Took me a while to realize how much I have to care about these cool off timeouts, skill selection and the order of the skills from left to right. I will definitely have to play other class, tho. I enjoy ESO a lot more I thought than I would to be honest. Its a good game, lots of stats and fine tuning (if you want) and I like that.
10:05 Before U35 necromancer healers were using empowering grasp which increased damage to BOTH light and heavy attacks. With U35, this is the impact which U35 made with changes to the Empower buff. ZOS killed necromancer healers and it's almost a year they did nothing to bring them back.
@@whit9172 there's nothing stopping you from amazing healing on a necromancer. on these tier lists we're really just splitting hairs over unique class buffs. in terms of raw healing ALL of that can and mostly should be achieved with resto staff abilities (springs, combat prayer), then vigour or regeneration for a heal over time, and blood alter from undaunted. necromancer skills: I love the unnerving boneyard skill for taking off enemy armour that the tank can't reach (pick the correct morph for that) which can be used instead or to compliment elemental susceptibility. the colossus is incredibly important if no one else is a necro or if the tank isnt providing major vuln for some reason (typical pugs). Ruinous scythe can be used for off balance. necrotic potency for building ultimate (awesome with pillager's set in trials or war machine/ master architect in dungeons) Bone totem is useful too and so are a few other skills like the healing tether and the ghost buddy to absorb damage from you if you're taking a lot of damage for some reason. empowering grasp used to be required but i have a hard time justifying it now. hope this helps!
DK over preforms in ever single aspect of the game lol pvp or pve. Such an OP over tuned class, literally nerfing yourself by wasting time and effort playing anything else. Just make one DK class and call it a day you'll no diff the game if you have thumbs

I was a little surprised to see Templar ranked so low on the Tanking Tier List. I love tanking on my Templar(s). I've never felt like, _"if only I were on my DK right now, this would be so much easier!"_
Templars make SUPERB tanks for all manner of content, do not doubt that for a moment. But when you are trying to do fully optimised vTrial HM runs there will always be min-max setups, that's just the way it is. I would never refuse to run a trial if the tanks were Templars. That's just silly.
You'll notice when you get to harder content and you try ourlt the different classes. I love my warden tank, and i absolutely hate playing necro tank.. but some vet content, having a necro tank is basically a must. And lately ive been shifting over to dragonknight tank because it provides just as much buffs to the team, though more often than not, those buffs are less likely to overlap with healers buffs, as healers generally come as wardens in 4mans. And because DK is the survival king. Warden has massive burst heal and really great buff coverage, but DK is just a g.o.a.t. UNIT
Couldn't agree more, this is spot on, I have all dps and play them all, came to the same conclusions. only factors to consider in terms of bis dps is what content and what sets, like templar with azure in some fights out parse dk. also i've slowly seen arcanists top dps runs i've been in for dlc hm trial runs. the meta might shift somewhat in a few weeks after some balance, and nb needs some love for sure
IMO, while ESO gives tons of freedom to customization, the developers always invision a class identity and a certain playstyle as a main focus when creating a class. This is true for all games. While it is true that you can be a stamina sorcerer or a magicka nightblade, each class was designed with a main role / playstyle in mind at the start. I find all classes, in the right hands, to be more than capable to heal, deal respectable dps and tank, regardless of the content, as long as the mechanics are learned and understood, the gear is in check and the game sense is developed, even with your average crafted gear. For example, I started playing when there were only 4 classes in the game. I always envisioned Templar as the Healing Class, Sorcerer as Magical Ranged DPS, Nightblade as Ranged or Melee Physical DPS and Dragonknight as the Tank/Bruiser. That is literally how my characters are. I never felt the need to go for more than 4 characters, one for each of the main 4 classes. Necro and Warden never peeked my interest. I left the game about 2 years ago, but I come back every year to check out 1 year worth of content (which isn't that much IMO) that I missed. The mistake of the developers is that they keep almost all builds viable so when you come back, unless you like experiment and have the best build or complete your collection, you don't have much to do after about 2k hours. Just do transmog, farm some more loot, craft, do some quests, maybe get some collectibles and level up some niche skill lines.
I would argue that having one Brittleden in a trial is not the worst thing. Since they have a rather large toolkit and do (quite a lot of) damage with a "Tank Weapon" In vTrials i get sometimes tasked with taunting a certain mob to, works good on warden, can work on sorc (bound armor).
I remember many years ago, struggling to get through valkyn skoria on vet cuz the healers we kept running through just couldn't cut it. One by one they just kept dropping out. Then this random DK healer popped into the group out of nowhere. On God I roasted that dude so hard I'm surprised he didn't leave. Dude never said a word. We ran skoria like it was on easy mode. Not a single death in the group. My jaw hit the floor. I'll never forget that..
I'm a magden main and have done alot of the hard modes with that class as a dd and I could not pull it of with another class in someways it just comes down to your playstile to some classes juat work better for you know of a necro healer that's healing trial hardmodes
Oof and here I made a NB for trial dps, a Warden for trial tanking, and a Necro for trial heals (specifically for making this easy, I mean). Felt like it was a no brainer; the assassin class will simply always be a good dps pick, the class that puts a dozen heals and buffs on himself will survive, and the dude that literally keeps the dead alive would make a good healer. At least I have picks for group dungeons.
Kinda sad to see Nightblade as garbage dps when it used to outperform all other classes long ago. I don't remember any huge nerfs to the class. Did all other classes just get buffed so much that they do better dps than nightblade now?
i'm totally just guessing here since i don't know what caspars logic is for that decision, but for me personally based on my experience with the class i would say the logic is that when nightblade is in the hands of a truly skilled player it can be god tier dps. but anything short of an amazing player will just not get the full potential out of a nb. and nb is that one class that absolutely needs you to be ON POINT with how you play it and maintain its buffs and procs etc. nb is such a zero room for error class so even one tiny mistake by someone playing a nb can knock it from god tier to average at best.
Dragonknight got over buffed essentially and is just in a tier of its own in terms of dps. The other issue with Nightblade is they don't really provide any group wide buffs or debuffs and the ones that they do bring can be obtained easily from other sources, so Nightblades are just kind of useless because the only thing they bring to the group is okay damage now which any class can bring. It's why I've stopped playing the game because there's zero class fantasy, Nightblade is my main and it just sucks at pretty much everything now while simultaneously being the most complicated class to play. There's no real point to playing one when you can just play the insanely easy Arcanist who does just as much or more damage than Nightblade and brings WAY more utility to the group.
@@lukasr1166i have to disagree. You can still slot vigor for heals and the Relentless focus proc does heal you. Honestly i main nb for vet hms and so long if you get regen you dont have to worry about it. The problem with NB is that you have to br good with it to see good value. If youre mid or worse its not good.
@@PrimeHunter3195 you can slot vigor if you want your already bad to be damage worse. The real problem with NB is that the aoe damage is utter garbage and it takes 3 times as long to clear trash pulls as it does with a DK.
As a necro main (initially) i can honestly say "healing" on necro is not that OP however, i'd put it as S as healer simply because of its shielding capabilities. The ult generation is insane, if you run barrier with the soul absorption skill (forgot the name) you can have another barrier up before 1 passively ends, not to mention stacking that with other shielding sets, it feels like group immortality. But for just straight healing i agree with your A rating. Id say between A or B.
Dk healing imo is a much more advanced class to heal on. Dk healing is not beginner friendly by any means, it very niche but with all the aoe heals with the right group coordination healing as a dk is very strong especially if you can maintain the stagger from stone giant.
I don't know champ, I went recently with my templar tank (archdruid, pearlscent, infalliable aether) in falkreath hold and one guy there randomly just called me "amazing tank" so i can only imagine what bad expecience he has to have with tanks, it was NA so all other tanks he experienced were pron DKs
Tanks is a hot commodity for dungeons since tanks are more in a way technical compared to dps and healing nowadays. As a tank role it’s a lot of micro managing, body placement, and making sure you don’t get one shot so it’s real easy to notice if the tank fucks up and some people can’t handle the embarrassment. Not so much early game but mid you start to feel it and late game is when to test your worth as a tank.
Yes, arcanist is busted in arenas. People are destroying their all time records with little to no efforts. Meanwhile DK requires a lot of skill to do an average score.
Might just be me but the mechanics in ESO aren't hard to learn at all I've been telling my friends they should cut the time of heavy attacks that bosses do in half. Waaayy to easy to block/parry.
Any class is good for any content. Just depends on how much you want to struggle vs have an easier time. I run NB for trials and I still got Shield of the North achievement (Kyne's Aegis Vet all HM's) with my party. Pain in the @$$ but I pulled it off with my DPS. It's about commitment to the cause.
The nightblade tank is strong and its easy to play if u learn it dk is just for beginner the (best) its easy to play so yeah but it gives nothing else u have a buff dk in trials so u dont need a dk tank instead u can take everything else as a tank... the nightblade healer is in trials s tier.... the templar dps is in trials c tier because if u have 1 templar in your group u dont want another... the necromancer as dps is the same think u dont need the coloss anymore and the nightblade is very strong for boss fights as dps so i would put it in a tier the perfect group would be: Tank arcanist Tank necromancer Heal nightblade Heal arcanist Dd buff necromancer Dd buff dragonknight Dd wardan Dd templar Dd nightblade Dd dragonknight Dd nightblade Dd dragonknight
Those solo arena tiers are wack lol. Templar is the single best vVH class, and a close second is likely Arcanist which has the best trash clear in the game, and the most accessible burst with a monster burst ult and the beam while there are only a few interrupt mechs in the entire arena. Necro is the worst, and the rest are between the those in a/b tier, except warden sustain is terrible excluding its incredible heavy attack variant and maybe its stam variant (but stam is at a huge disadvantage in vVH because of the pen requirements) so it might be in copium while necro is in the garbage tier.
warden is an interesting one with the right setups its very strong dps but i know the class like the back of my hand lol i would put from my experience warden at s tier i hit my highest dps on the class followed by my templar to each there own though
its all about proccing the shalks and fetcher flys as well as bear execute with other skills thrown in too i use my warden for trial dps and it performs well enough stam warden hits harder but magwarden has better survivalbilty
Everyone seems to hate necro dps but I enjoy it. Its fun and rewarding loading a horde up with a million dots. In arena I usually have the most damage on my team. I dont usually get the most kills but having the most damage is satisfying
honest question, you gave a tier list for tanks but only basically said "dk is best that's all.." you didn't give any explanations or numbers or explanations of any skills... not super helpful as someone who wants to learn the game

He's no longer a real endgame player like he was, back when Rockgrove released ish era and got PB, he was good, but he has been slacking ever since u35 release.

I set my DK up to uave essentially two bars of overshield while those over shields launch mortars because of a monster set hes impossible to kill and while he's tanking its causing damage on top of my normal rotation
Stamarc is super op in 4 man. 80-100k on bosses. Trash anywhere from 120 to 150k the majority of the time. In trials, it is rare I am not top dps, beating out dks on the majority of fights. Arenas are a walkover on Arcanist too I have a feeling that Nefas does not play Arcanist much. I also tank vet(hm)4 man and trial on the arcanist. It works very well with some fights easier on an arc tank and some easier on nevro. I have a dk tank, but it never really clicked with me. DKs are great tanks, just not fun for me.
Yeah I was talking with my guild mates about why my warden hits with foam balls… apparently it needs to be rebalanced for PvE… Sadge… I like your input about the arcanist. I had to plan what can give me Crux in order to make the beams the most powerful. Good video!!
Arcanist is easily one of the best Solo arena classes. Its so obnoxiously easy and tanky, ans does insane damage. Its basically a gueanteed clear. It also is easily S+ tier DPS for 4 man and trials with someone who knows how to position with the beam.
It is S tier at everything, it is inevitable. It is too bad like Oakensoul builds, I find it pretty fun and a change of pace to other styles of play somewhat. All of our guild run logs almost always have Arcanists at the top, even beating some of our better DK's that used to be top.
Been a nightblade since day 1. I have to say i couldnt disagree more in that regard.... ive done all 3 roles in trials, and well. I rarely am out dpsd in single target usually by a dragon knight if i am.
I'm sorry but Templar Tank is not Garbage for dungeon runs not even close, this shows me you dont understand the class. Sure its not S tier like DK but its not garbage.
Templar tanks have some survivability but don’t offer any real group utility. Same as NB. A tank’s job isn’t simply to stay alive, you are support and are responsible for buffs, debuffs, and add control. Templar doesn’t have any of that really built into the class tanking toolkit. Other classes that aren’t commonly used for tanking add more than templar for group utility.

Not sure if people have picked up on this yet but the common thing that makes a class OP for dps is whether its class passives are strong or not. Both DK and Templar have some of the most busted dps passives in the game. Burning is the best status effect by a mile. Increaseing a status effect that is already one of every classes top dps sources by 33% is just nuts. DK also procs it 100% of the time bursting it even further ahead. Templar have free weapon/spell power with only 1 ability needing to be slotted. Every other class has to slot 4-5 abilities to see a large buff from thier passives. In a meta where class abilities are rarely taken or able to be taken on just one bar this puts them way ahead. Then look at passives for necro.... Utter trash.
Honestly this is a bad list and I expected much better from you. Putting necro and templar both on A tier as dungeon DDs is just horrible. Templar is S+ tier, it has great burst damage, built in self heals for itself and even some for the group. The AOE circle is so big that even if there's lots of movement you often don't need to recast it. It also gives resources and cleanse synergy and does great in killing small adds and transitioning from one target to another. Necro is by far the weakest dungeon DD because it's clunky, has low burst damage and does poorly on fights where there is lots of movement and low health adds which is what dungeon gameplay is about. No built in self heal, does awfully in transitions, never enough bar slots and only gives the nerfed Boneyard synergy. Necro is "copium" at best as a dungeon DD. Colossus isn't a good argument, Turning Tide is the most common tank set I've seen in dungeon HM/trifecta runs. You also undervalue Arcanist in a lot of categories, and sorcerer tank is also better than you give it credit for.
@@BeAsTyCam67depends on what gear you have access to. Like I use a very simple Oakensoul HA srt up and I can solo vet dungeons with ease. And I can parse upwards of 90K. 80K without breaking a sweat. Mind you, a great two bar set up will crush that parse. That's just to show how easy it is. And you have an obnoxious amount of survivability built in.
I've been using a sorc tank as my main for over 2 years now and ive cleared more content with him than any of my other toons. These lists really are based on the players because I cant stand using a DK tank even though i have one because they're just boring!
Dude same but with a Tankblade, I haven't ran into a sorc tank before but I know they have a lot of op skills to make them tanky. I wouldn't hesitate to let someone tank in a trial based on their class EVER. As long as you got the gear and skill you're welcome to haha. But yeah DK mid AF and a snooze fest 😴
I’ve only been playing for a week and only a few hours, I think I’m level 10, but so far this game is SO easy that I love this list so I can pick the worst class I can to give some challenge. It’s as easy as Skyrim and they somehow ported the super dumb AI over from all the build engine games in to this one. But it’s a beautiful game and I’m loving it. I just roll play as a super badass and enjoy the power trip. Im sure it’ll get tougher but it’s the same as Skyrim/ Fallout 3/ Fallout 4 so far.
A lot of people who like to tank with NB get hung up on survivability. NB tanks are very survivable. The problem is they offer almost no group utility. What makes them even worse is a lot of NB tanks run selfish crutch sets like leaching and offer zero group utility. That’s why people complain about NB tanks. A tank ideally will be able to buff the group through sets AND skills, and debuff enemies while doing add control and surviving. The only thing that NB tanks do well is survive.
@@JohnSmith13146 not sure what builds you've seen but I'm running crimson oath and turning tide, providing more than enough support. Essentially great for oakensoul users, medium armor builds, and HA sorcs. Maximum penetration at all times, and on top of that, the void bash set for grouping adds. I keep my team up, and they clear trash mods instantly. Major and minor breach, major and minor vulnerability. And nazary with war horn. I don't fuck around.
@@Ty4TiberiusYes, but thats through the sets lol Youre not doing much aside from that through CLASS abilities, passives or ultimates. Other good tank classes like Necro, DK and Arcanist add significant utility through their passives and skills. Nightblade does not. Other than Minor Savagery youre not doing a whole lot in that department.
@@PrimeHunter3195 Dark Cloak is an OP heal, Mirage is an OP buff, Lotus fan is an OP AOE debuff, refreshing path is probably my fav ability of all time and you never see anyone in group running it. Nightblade tanks have HELLA survivability. When you're on a trial, a DK or Necro dd is usually in group giving out the buffs you're talking about. Every class has smt to offer, and nightblades are definitely the most underrated. Not to mention there's literally a built in skill advisory "living shadow" for nightblade tanks. On top of that you have constant major resolve from your shadow passive and max health increase.
