I ended up watching the film, and My God... What have i ending up seeing!!!!😍😍First of all, I came to know by this Sure MASTERPIECE why that era of bollywood is known as the Golden Era of Indian Cinema! Truly Truly Amazing And Touching experience.. Really deep emotions, innocent and lovable characters, heart warming storyline and truly SPIRITUAL and Journey full of engaging moments... Without any nonsense or unnecessary garbage! This is called real Cult Classic! Terrific Performances, Masterclass of Songs and Direction!!! A deep dive into human nature, greed and A sincere effort to show the life struggles of a creative person.. One of the best classics for me! I'm a typical white guy twit who only knew of the Beatles and Ravi Shankar as being remotely anything to do with the musical and cinematic culture of India. I bought something called PYAASA and utterly utterly fell in love with it. "These smiling flowers These fragrant gardens This world filled glorious colours The nectar intoxicates the bees What little I have to add to this splendour Save a few tears A few sighs". At least that's what the subtitles say! Unfortunately I know not of the real words and could not hope to even approach singing them, the swift moving between notes, the vibrato, it's quite beyond me! It's wonderful, it is profound!
The fact that the songs and lyrics of "Pyaasa" touched you, makes you a profoundly beautiful human being with a depth of feeling and understanding, Simon and not some "typical white guy twit". Did you know "pyaasa" means one who is thirsty...a longing for beauty, for love?
I have been listening songs of Pyadda movie on RU-vid. and too many people's are giving credit to s.d.b. okay, s.d.b composed and gave music. But Sahir created this. He is the real one. But sad, most audience praise actors, singer, musicians. very few acknowledge that lyricist is the one to give most credit. although Sahir too wrote according to movie. But when it comes to S.d.b and Sahir. Sahir should get more praise.

it was an excellent film with good script, nice lyrics of sahir Ludhianvi, superb music of s.d.burman, outstanding role of gurudutt, waheeda rehman, mala Sinha, and lovely voice of Geeta Dutt and mohd Rafi.

Guru Dutt was great film maker. He made movies on Social topics in his short span of life. I enjoy seeing Pyasa Evergreen movie of Guru Dutt. Johny Walker's Tel Malish Song is evergreen.
Sahir Ludhyanvi will never be matched. He is the master of Urdu and Hindi languages. The best Lyricist in bollywood by far. His songs in Pyaasa are very good.
With due respect to talent and traditions.... there had been only two real soul stirring lyricists in Hindi-Urdu cinema.... Sahir and Shailendr You play it today the songs are so relevant and so burning: Jinhe naaz hai hind par wo kahaan hain.

Pyaasa is acknowledged as being the finest Hindi picture ever made. Sadly it's the last time Sahir Ludhianvi worked with SD Burman due to a fight over 'Jane woh kaise log'. SDB wanted Hemant Kumar & GD/SL wanted M Rafi to sing this song !
Just came to know from Saregama Bengali's official YT channel that it was Geeta Dutt who suggested Guru Dutt that Hemant Kumar should sing the song - she even gave some firm logics behind her decision. Guru Dutt's main concern was that it won't sound good as every other song was rendered by Rafi. After that, Guru Dutt was convinced. Finally, Hemant Kumar rendered this song and it became a masterpiece.
Sahir Ludhyanvi made Pyaasa movie tremendously popular due his lyrics. Moreover, Gurudutt was responsible to made the movie an unforgettable one. He was a genius.
