Testing out the Pyranha Kayks Firecracker on some boily/confused water. Paddling down the Roy and Spean gorge, the perfect rivers to test how this boat reacts, on this style of water. Both of these rivers are very high in this video. Lots of water passing through these gorges causes massive boils, seams and rowdy rapids.
Paddling this boat through a high Roy gorge was manageable, but pretty sporty on the tail. If you know how to control and manage the tail then it can be very fun and exciting. Be prepared to paddle hard through the boils as the boat isn't the fastest when skipping through this kind of water.
Overall I feel that the firecracker handled really well. The only point I felt anxious was when scouting the big rapid. This boat is perfectly designed to handle and help paddlers to excel in this kind of water, especially at lower levels where it gets less pushy.
Having that stability of the hull to pass over seams and big rocker to skip over boils kept me smiling the whole way down. Then being able to pick out seams where I can dip that super playful tail and pirouette the whole way down the river 😮‍💨.
Can honestly say, this boat will help you to progress and keep a smile on your face the whole way down the river.

It looks like your bow was unintentionally pointing skywards midway down some of those rapids. Do you find the Firecracker gets vertical in places you don't want?

On this style of white water, I think it would be difficult to keep most halfslices under complete control haha.

@Rhys_Thomson thanks for the reply. I hear what you say, but would be interested to know how that stern behaves compared with, say, the Ripper 2. If you've paddled the latter, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. I ask because I'm undecided re which of these 2 boats to buy. Cheers.

@@davehumpleby3440 For me it all depends on what you want out of the boat, you’ll feel a lot more comfortable in a ripper 2 with it’s extra length and volume, which will help with maintaining speed and control. The firecracker is slower, although far more playful (the ripper 2 is still amazingly playful) but is still very stable. If you’re looking to perfect or learn stern squirts then the firecracker will definitely speed up that process. The firecracker is great for those shallow water rivers because of it’s shorter tail, which is quite common in the Uk I guess within this video I am trying to show that the firecracker is still very manageable on high level boily water.

@@Rhys_Thomson thank you for your insight. I'm leaning more towards the Ripper 2 for more technical water. I could do with demo-ing both back to back for comparison.
