PYRRHA NIKOS?!?! | RWBY: Ice Queendom Episode 5 REACTION! 

19:01 - This was honestly, one of my favorites part of Ice Queendom. Not because of Pyrrha singing Mirror Mirror, but because of what that represented in Weiss's mind. She views Pyrrha as the same caliber as her, yet the thin glass window that separete her and the outside world is meant to represent how much alieneted she felt from others. This also show how Pyrrha and Weiss are more similar that they let on. Both were put in a pedestal because of their fame and name, thus making it difficult to make connections, both went to Beacon to start again and form their own path. However, the difference are that Weiss kept everyone at arms's lenght because of her icy heart, while Pyrrha tries to be open-minded.

The Pyrrha moment was fanservice but so beautiful, and I can see the reason why Weiss viewed Pyrrha that way because she was everything Weiss wanted to be. My reaction was more or less the same as yours, and I LOVE IT.

Arnold, you may have missed it, but they mentioned previously and further establish in this episode that those who enter the nightmare will "override" their version in it: that's why nega-Weiss was talking about a lady in black even in the previous episode (confirming Blake was in her dream). So Ruby could not meet her dream version because her entering the dream makes dream-Ruby disappear (in this episode they mention the fact Ruby and Yang apparently escaped their place and they are brought to it).

when they were in the tower ruby said that the room was full of all of weiss's favourite things. which mean's that ruby and yang's dream version were looked in that tower to protect them from the nightmare. because in her subconscious they are important to her.

I was waiting for your reaction when Phyrra started singing. it didn't disappoint ^w^ When I watched it for the first time, I was blown away as well, and did wonder how you would react to your favourite character. They did a really great job. This is the reason why I don't mind a season 2 ^_^

Would love to see your reaction to Madoka Magica if you've never seen it. It would be a perfect followup to do Shaft's masterwork in such a similar vein as this. I never thought to associate RWBY with it much before, but after this, it's hard to not see the parallel themes and similar aspects. Also Gen Urobuchi DID get credited for the story concept for this... It was nice seeing all the folks who grew up on RWBY comment on the animatic video. At 53, I'm at the other end of the spectrum...been an anime fan almost all my life and found RWBY to be quite inspirational for indy anime-inspired work. I actually hadn't watched much reaction videos in general before I saw the reaction to CRWBY's reaction from vol. 3. Good times. :D

The thing about Weiss’ dreamworld that I see some people make mistakes with is that it is a dream twisted by a Nightmare. You can’t anything you see too literally, and since this is built from Weiss’ subconscious, it doesn’t necessarily reflect how she choses to act and behave when she is conscious. For instance, she made the conscious decision to accept Blake into her heart despite her being a Faunus and former White Fang member, but subconsciously her mind was still in the middle of fully processing everything before the Nightmare took over. That’s why “the girl in black” constantly keeps appearing over and over again, while Negative Weiss admits she can’t get her out of her mind. It also explains Blake’s design, especially with the half bow and the extra cat features. Weiss only just found out she is a cat Faunus and she’s still used to seeing Blake as a human. And the city isn’t meant to be representative of a real city, but is meant to be a representation of Weiss’ heart, made from a mishmash of places she’s familiar with. Factories, dust shops, the manor, and other places around Atlas and Solitas. You also won’t find any Faunus there, because it was previously impossible for Weiss to allow a Faunus into her heart. Her own prejudices aside, most Faunus either hate or distrust Schnee’s, so any that would try to befriend her could very well be a White Fang agent looking to kidnap or assassinate her. Even if she didn’t suspect them personally, her father or sister would. So she keeps them out of her heart. Or she did until Blake snuck past her defences, which created a lot of internal conflict in Weiss, which takes time to resolve. She said she chose not to care, which was really a temporary compromise. No one can just change on the spot like that so Weiss chose to make Blake an exception and dealt with the rest over time.

And yes, for the Dub, Jen Brown sang the song, too.

When the episode first aired I also said that Weiss sees Pyrrha as herself: a beautiful warrior that also knows the same loneliness of being so high up on a pedestal. I got downvoted to oblivion 😂
