Hi Corey, I want to thank you very much for these videos! I work as a guidance counselor. Me and my coworkers almost always visits clients at their homes, which makes planning a bit of a nightmare sometimes. I wrote a Python script which uses Google APIs to determine the travel times between appointments so it is easier to know when you HAVE to leave for the next appointment. I had it working locally for my calendar, but I wanted to turn it into a webapp. I had no idea where to start, but then I stumbled upon these video's. @adityasarkar6866
@adityasarkar6866 4 года назад
Ya the reason behind the second one works because Django knows where to look for for the static directory, if we would make the directory structure as he asked us to make. That way Django directly goes into static folder of the blog application, then to the blog folder and finds the main.css. Do correct me if i am wrong.

For those who are seeing errors following the last part of the video (around 42:00), the base template part href = "{% url < insert some url here > %}" , it is probably because of the Django version used in the video being outdated. Newer Django versions require the addition of a namespace to the paths in the urls.py files (both project and app ones). You can do this by going into the project/urls.py file and adding a "namespace" field inside the include function, for instance path( ' ' , include( ' blog.urls ' , namespace = " < insert you namespace here >" ) ) Then, inside the base HTML file, on the "href", you should basically add inside of the quotes the prefix ' < the namespace > : ' before the url. More precisely: href = {% url ' < insert the namespace of the url that you want to use here > : < insert the url here > ' %} On the blog/urls.py you can simply add a variable with a string after imports, for instance blog_namespace = " < insert the desired name here > " Hope that it helps.
@barryberko
@barryberko Год назад
Thanks, this helped a lot. But if I use any other variable name apart from 'app_name', I get an error, which leads me to believe that it is a Django keyword for namespace handling. Any thoughts on this?

Dude this is fire, like i'm not a native English speaker but the way you communicate and the domain you have of the subject is so good, you're explanations are straight up to the point, but still point out why's and better ways to do something, etc.
