@@surfnshowreviews7777 Noel, I've been riding my Pyzalien 2 for around 1.5 months and I am more than happy with this. Definitely the best board I've ever ridden (for the conditions and my abilities). Thanks again!
Got my one yesterday and took it out for a spin today! What a sick board! Alredy my favorite, as an intermediate level surfer i ve to say this is the perfect board, easy to surf and really user friendly!
I picked mine up 2nd hand and only knew how to surf down the line. But this board changed my life, got the hang of it real quick, throwing cutbacks, roundhouse etc. Had to play around with fins a bit tho and the thruster (performance carbon core) felt too stiff, swapped in two quad rears and it completely changed the board. Also just tried it with the MF Twin+1 and it's even more fun. Prefering thruster in everything overhead though, to not slide out on the bottome turns. I'm 6'3" 95kg, pretty fit and ride it as 6'0" XL (34.x L) Usually surfing decent point break in western NZ. In OH and DOH I wish I had the standard dims with same volume, just more length but trying to figure out if I should go for a Ghost or Ghost Pro for those bigger days now...
I picked up a 6'0" x 19.5 x 2.5 PU coming in at 31.5L. Im 5'10", 170lbs and rode it at head high to a few feet over head at Middles. I absolutely LOVE this board and it was exactly what i was looking for. Something i can put more on rail and get a little more HPSB feel out of it. I have the JJF large thruster set in it. Just magic with head high + surf with some oomph. My daily driver is usually a Firewire Glazer ( 5'7" at 33.5L, ) with the Machado Thruster set, or a Seaside ( also 5'7" and 33.5L) with the Controller Quads. As Noel has highlighted, the wider/flatter boards tend to want to catch up around the nose. Perhaps A 5'10" Mini Ghost might be next for me. In chestish high, the 6'0" feels a little long.
Noel, I had my favorite cereal before starting my day. Mahalo for all of your reviews. The way you describe these subtle differences will help many surfers narrow their decision when choosing a board base on their experience, style and goals. Aloha.
Really good to hear what you say about the board and its response to back, neutral or front footed surfers. I think this is a very important element to a board and would love to hear your thoughts on other boards and whether they suit front or back footed surfers more.
Thanks, Noel Easily the best reviews on the web My only problem is that your skills are so good - you get magic out of a board that I can only dream of
I had the FireWire pizalien and was the same, the best board for all conditions, with the quad was ideal for powerful spots. But was nice for all conditions but not brilliant for anything, I think is a very nice choice for big guys that are intermediate, learning to turn well level.
Best daily driver to date!!!!...wow that's a heavy statement I'll have to get one and have a go at it in HUNTINGTON this summer. Rad review great surfing as always this channel's priceless.
You're killing me, Noel. You are costing me money and going to get me in trouble with my wife.Ha ha ha!!!! Just picked up my custom 5'7" P2 that came in at 25.8 liters and the 5'5" Rocket Wide in spinetek that came in at 25.8 liters as well. The P2 looks sick and passes the under the arm test. If it works as well as it looks, I'm stoked!!!! Thanks again for all of the great reviews!!!!
@@MrB1019 there were no stock boards for me at the time. I ordered a custom 5'7" by 18 5/8 by 2 5/16" that came in at 25.8 liters. I'm a little smaller than Noel at 5' 9" and 150 lbs
Great review as always. This is by far my favorite channel on the tube. Soo much to learn! BIG SHOUTOUT TO AARRON for capturing all of the surfing radness for every review! I have a question regarding fins: You often run a quad setup with Large neutral front/ Medium upright back fins in smaller waves and or to loosen up a board. I weigh around 195 lb. Should I go XLarge front/ Large back then? Thanks in advance!
Your channel was my first stop when it was time to get at new daily driver, and this was definitely the board I went for and I couldn't be happier. I ended up with the Pyzalien 2 XL because I'm a solid 215 lbs in typically less-than-powerful New England surf (besides hurricanes and winter) and that was the right choice. Everything you said in the review was on point, and held true for the XL as well. Thanks again for the great recommendations and keep 'em coming so we can keep having valid reasons to expand our quivers!
@@guitarplayer714 I got my height, 6'1". I've surfed the regular Pyzalien 2 in the same size and I'm really glad I went with the XL. The extra volume really helps make it a true daily driver for all conditions, even weak swells.
Hey Noel, great job on the review as usual. Always impressed that you reply to questions in the comment section. My question is in regards to PU vs Epoxy: if you had to pick one which would you choose? I’m wondering if the epoxy is still enjoyable on bigger waves say 4-8 foot or if not does the PU handle the smaller size without losing much performance. Cheers Noel 🤙
Mayor of Kooktown I would choose PU for 4-8’ surf and EPS for 1-4’ surf. If your getting this board then consider what size surf you shred most of the time I surf 1-5’ surf 90% of the time so I would go EPS. If I lived in HI or a place where it’s always choppy surf then I would go PU.
Surf n Show Reviews Size does get up there but most of the year it’s 4 and below. Sounds like EPS is the best option. Fired up to get this, my old lost v3 rocket finally bit the dust and it’s time for a new/different fun board. Thanks for the reply, the effort you put in for the love of surfing is much appreciated
It would be really interesting to see what you thought of the board in 1-2 ft surf in PU construction. Cos if it's a 1 board quiver you can't have it in PU and Epoxy :)
Hi Noel, excellent review and the amount of shares knowledge and analysis. Question: P2 or rnf96? And how compares to CI everyday happy? … on 2 to 6 feet wave. Thanks bud
i got the pu 5.8 stock dimension this morning and had first session in 6/8ft+ point brake large performance fins really fast board very good top to bottom surfing catching wave machine probably the best daily i had love at first paddle that is Noel your review halp me every time I buy new board
Noel - as always thank you so much for your contribution to the larger Surfing community ! Trying to pick between the pyzalien 2 and hypto krypto for my next board. My main 2 boards are a local shaper version of an average joe (5’8” 20” wide full rail) that I ride with stretch quads and a JS Monsta Box. (2017 6’0 33l - bought after watching your review- Ka fcs2 medium fins ) I love the Monsta box on good days but harder to get going in junk .. My joe clone works well as a log alternative but doesn’t turn so well .. I’m looking for something with more versatility that I can still progress my surfing - more waves , speed generation, turns …. As a note, find I actually at times ride my Monsta box better back side .. I think I’m getting my weight more forward . I surf manly in south bay of LA. I’m 58 fit 175 lbs 5-9. I surf 3-4 days a week. Any thought or guidance appreciated. Dave
I seen this board @ camp shred this last weekend, BTW you should set up there so that your viewers can talk story and get a chance to interact with you in person. Just saying Cheers!!!!🏄🏽♂️
Great review, suprised on the range of this board, I'm going to have seriously look at this one. You were throwing some crazy buckets geez. I'm really hoping you will review the new FCS 4 fin as your knowledge of fins is unmatched. Thanks
Hey Noel, between the Shadow and the Pyzalian 2 for Socal surf (Swamis and Trestles) for an intermediate surfer which would you prefer? The recent Pyzel video with Jon talking about the Ghost and Shadow has me liking the Shadow more than ever, but I'd like to know more about the main differences between the Shadow and Pyzalian 2, as it seems like more of an all-rounder. Thanks!
Hey Noel, firstly I’d like to thank you for all the work you put into theses in depth reviews you are a true asset to the surf community both here in Australia & around the world. A couple of questions regarding the P2. I’m 5’10 70kg / 155p intermediate I surf Aussie beach breaks 90% of the time from waist to double OH. I purchased a DHD 3DV @ 5’9 28L wasn’t very forgiving in fast beach break conditions due to the amount of V late in the tail so I got rid of it. Wanting to know how much more forgiving the P2 is in comparison, I’m looking at custom 5’9 x 19 1/4 x 2 3/8 = 28.5L by looking at the board the P2 rails are a lot fuller & more forgiving & I understand that the V & bottom concaves offsets this. Thanks again mate for all you do, keep up the good work & I look forward to your reply, yeeeeeeew 👍👍👍
DHARMA432 The P2 is way more user friendly and I like it way better performance wise too. It also has a better wave range.... P2 is excellent in 2-8’+ surf.
Surf n Show Reviews All good mate I just needed a little nudge to get me over the line & commit to the P2 I’m sure I’ll love it thanks again Noel cheers 🍻 mate yeeeeeeew
Hey Noel, love your reviews. You have the best content in this area on RU-vid. I was weighing up five boards, Monstabox vs Phantom vs Holygrail vs P2 vs Sharpeye modern 2 . I brought a P2 based on your review, I managed to pick up a 6'1 in electralite and will try the AM2 techflex fins I have as a thruster in it first, have you ridden the five fin set of this as a quad? In Noel I trust! Peace and happiness from New Zealand
@@surfnshowreviews7777 Sweet, thanks for the reply. I ended up buying the 5 fin Pyzel fin set in as you suggested to another commenter. The futures legacy balanced five fin set was a lot cheaper and I was seriously considering those, do you think there is much difference between those sets? I was tossing up getting the larges, but based on your review of the board it seemed the board itself already has enough drive and the fin template of the Pyzels seemed to have slightly more flex rating than the other balanced fin sets. Should I stick with these or go to a large? Cheers
Really interested in this board as a replacement for a Lost Puddle Jumper that I have never really got on with. Want a single board for a range of conditions. Great review. Thanks.
Did you get it? I have the puddle jumper 5’11 got the pyzalien 6’2. Puddle jumper rips in everything. Struggle to get the pyzalien going in most surf unless it’s perfect for it
Good explanation on foam distribution and drive styles. This could be my next boatd. Still rippn dude! Unbelievable. U should sell vitamins. I'd buy em
How did the fins turn out for the board? I have them but never tried. I've been riding either Roberts Large Thruster or ad a quad with HS rears. Both goes well. Incredibly fast
Dennis Imhof Yo! The quads ripped but a bit too much of a pivot template for me. They felt great on snaps but not so much on drawn out carves. Opted for the other side of the spectrum with the AM2s, feels skatey with more rake
I think we need a show on foot footed/back footed surfers with tech and talk from different shapers. and you always looked the most comfortable, sharp and clean on the phantom..
Roger Pye RW is a small wave shredder... this Pyzalien has a wider wave range... solid in 1-7’ surf. I think the Pyzalien 2 might even hang in bigger surf too.
Christian Bondra P2 is easier to surf. A bit more foam throughout and it’s a smoother ride. The NB2 is insane... but it pivots off that tail a bit abruptly. The NB2 is a bit more radical... which I love too
Jared Rosenfield RW is a small wave performance board best in waves that range waist-head high. It will go pretty good in a little overhead waves but it’s not ideal. The P2 offers a better wave range and surfs the pocket better. The RW paddles a little better but I think the P2 is faster and smoother from rail to rail.
Hey man, awesome review. I was set on the phantom but now im leaning to the pzyalien 2. On your phantom review you recommended 31-32L for me riding a phantom, would that be the same for the pyzalien 2? Im 6ft and 178 pounds, intermediate surfer. Cheers legend, hope youre doin alright amongst this virus chaos. Peace
Is the “easy paddle” on the phantom very noticeable comparing it to the P2?? Or both very close ? If there’s a considerable difference can it be offset with a little more volume on P2???
Hi Noel, thanks again for all you do for the community & your advice as always spot on much appreciated. I have a custom 5’9 PA2 rips in 1ft-DOH beach breaks love it. I’m thinking of ordering a custom 5’11 PA2 for the top end just to get in a bit earlier & more rail line OR a custom 5’11 Shadow. I’m not thinking Ghost something that sits just below but can still handle the size. Kinda like the idea of a 1 board quiver in 2 sizes but open to your suggestions. Also the transition from PA2 to Shadow is it a big difference ease of ride etc from your experience? Thanks mate I’ll grab my favourite drink & wait for your reply yeeeeew........🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Good review Noel, what is the difference between a daily driver and a high performance shortboard, does a daily driver have less performance than a high performance shortboard?
Sunglowz Daily Drivers have less rocker and usually have a bit more width in the nose and tail. They are usually couple inches shorter in stock dimensions compared to most HPSB’s.
Likely at an advanced/high intermediate level, my normal go to for good waves is a 6’2” Gamma at 31.5 ltr. Between the Phantom, or P2 (in similar volume), which would be a better choice as a DD, for mostly reef/point breaks. Was leaning towards a Phantom 6’0” round tail, but wondered if the P2 might best suit me? Mahalo in advance for any input.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 thank you so much for the input. I understand the Phantom is a wave catching beast, and wouldn’t be upset about that. But I also wondered if a MG round tail would be better suited for my needs. Is there a big difference in their (Phantom/MG round tail) ease of paddling? I’d still like the board to be able to maneuver in the pocket, and fear the Phantom may struggle in smaller waves, as opposed to the MG. Mostly head high, to a few feet overhead, in central ca area reefs. Help me choose one....🙏🙏🙏😊🤙
@@connorm3457 MG is a great paddler and it has a little more tail rocker compared to the Phantom. I would be stoked to shred the MG Round Tail as my Daily in 3-7’ surf in So Cal
@@surfnshowreviews7777 thank you again for da input, and confirming my belief, the MGR would better suit me. I had a phantom round tail ordered, and went ahead and changed it to the MGR. can’t wait! Mahalo Nui Loa for being so gracious, helpful, and empathetic to all of the inquiries you get hammered with. Can’t figure out how you have any chance to respond to anyone, with all da waves you catch. I guess that’s your “good side”, to flat spells or howling onshores....😜💪💪💪🤙🤙🤙
I’m trying to decide between an og flyer and the pyzalien 2. Is there an obvious choice? Sounds like the p2? Also, as a 6’3” 170 lb intermediate is the 6’1” p2 going to be too much board at 33.1L? Thanks for the review.... awesome...
Hey Noel, Would this pair nicely with the BV2 in the quiver or would the red tiger be a better option? Looking for something for everday beachies. And the BV2 ill use for 1-3ft surf. Cheers
Also been meaning to ask if you go down a fin size for larger waves and what your rationale for doing so is? I usually ride a large fin as I am 93kg and was thinking about going down to a medium fin for bigger waves. I have ridden medium fins way in the past and while they definitely lacked drive they were much easier to manoeuvre thru turns. Take it easy!
Kapukataumahaka Ōwheo Yes... I often go down to Medium fins when the waves get bigger. The Medium fin seems to keep my rails engaged better at high speeds. Not on all boards but most of the time I like a medium fin in 5-8’+ surf.
Hey Noel, loving the reviews. Couple of things. How would you rate the p2 Over the js monsta Box? Seems like the p2 has better low end range? How do they compare in turns? Also love to see a review of the driver 2.0 and also the sub driver swallow. Both on my radar currently.
Ben Costantini P2 has a better range in general. I liked the MB in 3-5’ surf. The P2 has a better range in 1-3’ and 4-8’ plus. The P2 paddles better, more pivot and has better traction off the bottom. Driver 2.0 review is coming... Sub Driver review will hopefully drop this Summer.
Thanks for the feedback. Have to go and check one out I think. Keep up the good work. also be interested to see what your thoughts are board design for rear, front and neutral stance? What characteristics suit different styles.
Hi! From Brasil... Love yours reviews. Learning a lot from them... Ok, I understood P2's your favourite daily driver/ 1board quiver. But... wich boards would you choose for 2 boards quiver? One board to 1-3' and the other to 4-6'+? (In my country there's nobody doing anything similar to what you do. Sad. Feel lucky I've found your channel!)
Xiru Sander Scherer 1-3’ I like these grovelers... Astro POP, Ultra Joe, PJHP, Gremlin, Black Baron. Small Wave daily drive boards... NB2, UD XL, P2, Fishbeard.
Hey mate, wanting to know your thoughts. I’m 75kg advanced surfer from Gold Coast Australia. I snapped my 5’10 Pyzalien 2 when surfing kirra a few years and I’m looking at going back to a Pyzel board. For me Pyzels have unmatched stability. I’m wanting a board for 4-8ft point break and big quick punchy beach breaks. The thing I didn’t like about the Pyzalien 2 was the wide point at the front of the board made it feel too unstable taking off on the rail in big surf. Right now I’m looking at the Ghost or the Radius Prime Round, length needs to be 5’10 I’m not concerned with litres. Would appreciate your thoughts!
Hi Noel, after surfing both the Pyzel Phantom and the Pyzel Pyzalien 2, which surfboard did you prefer and which one would you pick if you had to choose one?
Thanks for the killer review! Right now I own a Slater Sci-Fi and trying to figure out what would be a better option for me here in Hawaii. I was thinking of keeping the Sci-fi and getting a shadow or ghost for those days it goes above 6+ or just getting the pyzalian as a daily driver and selling my sci-fi. What's your suggestion on this and is there any other board you'd recommend for those 6+ days?
Great review as always. I really enjoy how you break down the board's details. What would you recommend as a daily driver/high-performance board for a solid intermediate surfing 2-6 ft waves? The Pyzalien 2 or the cymatic? I'm about to buy my first brand new board and am having a really hard time choosing the right one.
Thinking about getting the P2 XL in order to get the 5’10” to match my 5’10” height with my desired volume. Or would I be better off getting the normal P2 and just a little longer? Don’t live on the coast so it would be a travel board. Thanks for the great content! I’ve watched this particular video at least 3 times
I'm 6' 0" and torn between the P2 5'11 or P2 xl in 5'10". The P2 xl has 2 1/2 thickness which sounds like a lot. Does anyone have experience with the xl vs the standard version. What would be your recommendation Noel - the shorter and thicker or larger and thinner version of this board?
Noel how would this compare to a Lost Psycho Killer? They seem similar in a lot of ways. Which one has more performance and why? THANKS for the review by the way! The PK is my favorite board right now. I had a Pyzalien before - Mental board and crazy wave range. Surfed it from 2ft trestles to 10ft Honolua. Super drivey and forgiving. A true quiver killer. Eventually sold it because the rails were a bit fat and it didn't pivot super well with this really straight outline but I always regretted it a bit. Stoked to check the new one out with the updated rails and vee. It can only be amazing.
Dennis Imhof The PK doesn’t grovel that good in waist you chest high... it needs a wave for it to shine. The P2 pretty much does it all and the rails are more refined compared to original so you need to check one out for sure. The P2 is carryover more speed and better flow compared to the PK.
I currently have a phantom and love it, would it be worthwhile adding this to the quiver or too similar? Looking for another board to take on a trip to Sumatra.
Will Geddes I would be stoked to have both boards in my quiver. The P2 goes better in smaller surf... and in bigger surf the Phantom draws different lines... epic carving. P2 pivots better.
Hi Noel! Between the P2 and the Inferno 72, which one do you suggest for a good intermediate who wants to progress his turns and fundamentals in 2-6ft waves? Thank you
Noel how would this compare to a `CI Rocket wide? They seem similar in a lot of ways. Which one has more performance and why? THANKS for the review by the way!
Max Hudepohl RW is a small performance board... best in 1-4’ surf. This P2 has more rocker and has a better wave range 1-7’ surf. I am sure it goes in 8’ surf too. The P2 pivots better and offers more traction in the pocket due to it having more rocker.
Great review...could you please elaborate on what you meant about this board being more challenging for East Coast conditions? Is a fin change all that is needed to make the Pyzalien work better in NY? Or more importantly, do you have a favorite or board you would recommend for typical East Coast conditions?
Just my 2 cents, I’m on the East Coast and recently got the P2. Have surfed 1’ overhead OBX to knee high VB slop. Honestly seemed to excel in both, more drive in small surf than my grovelers and speed, hold, and snap in barreling head high plus surf. Noel was spot on with “true one board quiver”. Highly recommend for East Coast, especially NY and NC.
Thank you very much for your review braddah!! I just watched the review for the mini ghost as well. I’m debating in between both. Looking for something to ride 3 - 8ft. Mostly to surf north shore HI and Central America. I already have a T&C Pang 6’2 round pin for hollower days, DHD Sweet Spot 6’0 round tail and a Denis Pang fish 5’2 wide swallow for shoulder high and smaller days. I need something to train cutbacks and rounder carves but with enough speed for quick responses. I am 5’7 ; 165lbs Which one of the two would recommend?! Appreciate your time
Hey Noel what board construction would u rather get for the East Coast surf out of NY. Im stuck between dims 5’8” 26.5L or 5’9” 27.3L if I’m 5’7 at 145 pounds, intermediate level is it a good paddler or should I go for the bigger size.
Hello Noel, thank you very much for the amazing content. Definitely, you are delivering great value. I would like to ask for advice. I live in southwest Portugal, and I surf all year around (winter 4/3, summer 3/2 wetsuit), beach breaks, and reefs from 2 to 8 feet most of the time with a bit of texture. 3 to 5 times per week. I am 44 years old, fit, 5.9" and something between 160 and 170 pounds depending on the time of the year, and more of a front-footed surfer. I have been surfing the Lost Killer Quiver 5'10 - 30,5L PU for the last 6 years, but I have not entirely enjoyed it. I am Intermediate/advanced. I have 3 questions. I am between the Phantom 5'10 30,10L and the P2 XL 5,10 - 30,8L, it would be a one-board quiver, with one would you recommend? Pyzel is built here by Polen and their boards get pressure dents really easy, do you have any recommendations about what PU glassing should I go for? Should I use more volume because of a thicker glassing? Thanks very much for your answer and all the best in your new home.
I like the P2 better as a 1 board quiver out of those 2 boards. PU/Poly boards pressure dent pretty easy and if you glass them heavy they feel heavy to me and the flex is so so. Maybe just add a 3/4 patch on the deck over the typical 4oz deck.
@@surfnshowreviews7777Thanks Noel, that was really helpful. I think that the decision is taken now. I feel that the connection that you are creating between the everyday surfer and the shaper is incredibly valuable. Congratulation and keep rocking :)
@@tiagocarvalho983 Finally the board has arrive¡¡¡ I went for the P2 in 5.11" 30.2L. The first impression when I received and I put it under my arm, it was: my good this is a lot more narrow than my previous Lost Killer Quiver 5.10" 30.5L. Ones that I got into the water, I got a huge positive surprise. This ones 1" wide that I went down, It is exactly what I need it. The board feels alive and the slimmer front of the board, allows me to move it much better. I was mega happy after the first wave, I felt a instant connection with the board. I landed in the sweet sport right away and I could put the board right where I wanted. By the way, even if the board is 1" longer than my previous board, it feels a lot shorter in a really good way. About the speed, it is fast in smaller surf and really fast, holding really well to the wall in bigger punchy surf. I am using the FCS II Performer fins and it feels great, soon I will experimenting with a twin + trailer. Maybe the MR. I totally recommend the board. The only thing that I have to get use to is to the nose rocker. I think that I could do with a bit more of rocker, not much, but a bit more. I wanted to thank Noel, for helping me choosing. I am really happy with my new board.
Thanks for another great review Noel! i saw one of your other videos on tail pad placement; with the start of the kick on the back of the pad positioned in line with the rear of the centre fin for a thruster set up, and wonder if you can offer any advice on the tail pad placement for the Pyzalien 2? i noticed the pad in this video looks a little further forward. I know the leash plug doesn't allow the pad to go too far back unless you notch a cut-out. Just wondering if i should get it right over the centre fin or a little further forward? Thanks
Noel! Greetings from Puerto Rico! Thanks for the review! What size would you recommend me for the Pyzalien 2? Im an intermediate surfer. Im 6’0 tall 170lbs. Appreciate your reviews!
Hi Noel! Are the P2 and the KA Swordfish pretty much the same? In what ways are they different? I currently have the swordfish exacta at 29l and I'm thinking about getting a P2 because I'm 6' and getting close to about 190 lbs so I kinda feel like I'm under volume at 29l
Completely different boards. The SF is a little more fishy…. Wider nose and tail compared to the P2. The P2 surfs like a legitimate HPSB to me. It’s easier to surf compared to HPSB, but it draws sharp lines. I like the P2 way better than the SF
Hey Noel, hope all is well. I’m stuck between two boards. Narrowed it down to the Neck Beard 2 vs Pyzalien 2. Live in North County San Diego and want a performance daily driver to use. Looking for something really fast down the line with quick maneuverability. Would you recommend the NB2 for that? I’m leaning towards that board but worried from some of your comments that it can be a little flimsy/slip out from under you. Had a board a while back that slipped out a lot that I ended up moving on from. Sounds like the P2 has more traction with decent speed. How does the speed on both compare? Which board would you recommend for the only in my quiver for North County SD waves? Thx!!
Mitchell Wilkinson The NB2 is faster and it will hold just fine. The P2 has a better wave range 2-8’+ but it’s a bit slower compared to the NB2. I like the NB2 in 1-5’ surf... beyond that you will need to surf it off your back foot to keep those fins engaged in 6’+
@@surfnshowreviews7777 great!! NB2 it is. Thx for the advice. I'm 6'1" and 155 lbs. Was thinking of going with the 5'7" stock dims (28.1 liters). You think that would be good? or should I go a little smaller/bigger? What volume should I be going for?
I have been surfing many years and go through a lot of small wave boards. The NB2 is one of the best high performance small wave board I ever owned. Went with a squash tail in Spine Tek. Started with AM2,s, great for speed generating but were a little stiff, the large JJFs put this board over the top. The OG Neckbeard has less tail rocker with vee. It generates speed well, large sweet spot, but will not turn in the pocket, its better for an intermediate surfer. It is nothing like the NB2. This has a small sweet spot, one pump and your and your moving waist to head high this my go to board. Any bigger I go to another board.
Hi Noel, I am trying to put together a two board travel quiver. I need one more board to pair with my 5'8 mini ghost. I am trying to decide between a 5'11 phantom or a 5'11 pyzalien 2. Which board would you go with? I am 5'11'' and 165 lbs (these days I like to be between 30-31.5 liters in volume).
