“Great courses” my kids (14,16yo)use these as well as a bunch of different books to pass the CLEP American history one and two and DSST, Civil War, and Reconstruction. I also had them watch the PBS Civil War videos. The DSST Vietnam war course I passed when I was in the army, watching the PBS series, the old one, and the textbook recommended on the back of the exam sheet.

Awesome! Thanks! Sorry I don't have more on that. But I definitely recommend finding a college that will let you use portfolio credit to finish at least 25% of it. Most of the colleges I recommend in my video on the Top 5 Online Colleges would work there.

Good video! New sub! I’m 30, with an AS, looking to get back to college to finish my bachelors. Alas, I’m a bit afraid that my previous “success” in community college was entirely due to Adderall. I’m worried I don’t have what it takes to really learn the material without it. That said, for my health, I’m not going to start using it again. Alas. This was an informative video, and I’m glad RU-vid recommended it to me!

So I was finally accepted to LUO Pre Law... Yayy 🥳... My question now is in the degree plan they gave me it included 39 transfer credits & 9 life credits from working as a paralegal for so long... can you still help create a plan that doesn't require elective credits? If I'm understanding correctly, I don't need any more electives... I absolutely HATE math & wanted to find out about testing out of it all together... is that a possibility now with so many transfer & life credits?
@CollegeHacked
@CollegeHacked 2 года назад
Congrats on getting in! That's awesome! I'm 100% certain there are still testing options. If you want to email me a screenshot of your personal Degree Completion Plan where it shows what credits you have completed already, I'll be happy to give you an estimate of how much I could help you so you can decide if it's still worth it. My email is clifford@collegehacked.com. :)

Creating college hacks I have a question My question is there a place where I could find a credit-bearing pre-algebra course that would be a transferable credit it's a favorite class of mine and sometimes I wish that I could have a favorite class on my college transcript do you know where I could find a course like that and also do you know any good places where I could really work my grammar from my writing skills

Does age matter? Can my 15 year old start cleps? Also, at a homeschool conference we were told that clep is great but one might want to be cautious to not clep too many because in one instance, a student was dubbed a “transfer student” and that negatively affected his loans or grants. Can you mention that in a video? Lastly, I have always wondered this, if a school like Edison wrapped up a bachelors degree for you and was (let’s pretend) well respected, can the masters degree school not accept part of your bachelors degree or is a bachelors degree sort of a black and white with acceptance? Does that make sense?
@CollegeHacked
@CollegeHacked Год назад
Great questions! Age matters at some schools. You have to be 20 at UMPI for instance. But you can start taking CLEP exams any time though. Yes, transfer students at more traditionally-focused schools don't get access to the same scholarships. So, while TESU isn't Harvard (aka hugely respected), it is not disrespected. Good average state school. Usually it's black and white, but some graduate programs want to see specific courses. For instance a master's in Biology might want to see specific biology and chemistry courses.

What are some logical points that are more likely to convince a professor or school board member that I am a good candidate for an exception to allow testing out of a class?
@katydid5088
@katydid5088 Год назад
Previous work experience, certification and trade programs, and an ability to pass a course final with 98% or better without lead time for prep. Even then, testing out means they may require another group related course for interpersonal skills training and if it has labs for concepts and problem solving, you'll likely not have the experience or equipment to prove you can test out. Sciences especially require a lab safety brief and specific conceptual parts that they want you to be exposed to in lecture. Also, most colleges require a credit rate fee for testing out. You're paying for the course time without attending class. It stinks but it's the way the college stays in the green.

I’ve read a few reviews on Thomas State University and WGU and a few students say it takes them a while to get a hold of staff and professors. Is this true? Also, do any of these schools offer tutoring? I’m kind of rusty on my math.
@CollegeHacked
@CollegeHacked 2 года назад
You are asking all the right questions, Monica. 1. Yes, in college as a whole, professors can be hard to reach via email. For some reason, some faculty just tend to be really bad about responding emails. But this more college as a whole rather than any specific schools. You just have to be persistent and use office hours/phone numbers if they offer them. Alternatively sending an email every 36 hours until they respond usually worked for me. 2. Some schools offer tutoring, but it's usually only for writing. At college, the course itself is basically the tutoring. So everything you need to learn should be in there. I get that some folks will still want a little extra help, and your professor should be your first go-to, but there are plenty of online, inexpensive tutoring services you could use too. Math is a tough one. The good news is that you should be able to use Sophia for most or all gen-ed requirements, and that's completely at your own pace, so it should be super low pressure. :)

Can I study at these colleges with an GED? Edit: I also would like to ask if there is any way to hack residential colleges like Texas A&M for example

1. Yep! 2. Yep! But residential programs generally will accept fewer hackable credits.

Is there a difference in "Hackability" from humanities degrees (English, History, Sociology etc.) , to science degrees (math/stats, Engineering, programming/data science etc.)? It seems that degrees that fall under B.A. degrees are more hackable then B.S. degrees or am I missing something?
@CollegeHacked
@CollegeHacked 2 года назад
Nope, you're totally right. Math degrees tend to have a lot more building blocks and pre-requirements to get into later classes, so you end up with much larger major areas and much smaller elective areas. I do tend to see that BA's have large general education areas though, but that works out in favor of hackability.
