Brian, can you at least sometime give bad advise so I can complain? I thought that was what the internet was created for? Right? All kidding aside, love the content. I have been fly fishing for over 40 years and I still learn something from this channel. Keep doing what ya doing guys.

Brian, It's OK, "Balls to the wall" is an old Army Air Corps term. The bombers had round plastic balls on the throttle levers. To get maximum power from the engines, they had to slam the "balls" against the firewall in the cockpit. Hence, the term "Going balls to the wall" It just means very fast or full throttle.

Was having the twisting problem myself and hadn't even googled anything yet, but here this video was in my recommended's. Fantastic as always! I did find my line twist being more controlled when I was wading yesterday as opposed to standing on my paddle board, even casting better, I think the water tension makes it easier to let out line without losing too much energy in the cast. Keep up the great work

For the question about the fly rod sizing, look up the common cents system designed by Tom kirkman. It’s a tool us custom rod builders use to determine the line weight and action of fly rod blanks. It may be confusing at first but if you can figure it out it will be really helpful
@Madriveroutfitters

This is cinema gold! I tried for 2 weeks now. 2... I had a modern graphite 9 foot 8 wt and snapped it. For 2 weeks tried using a dinosaur fiberglass and nope. Never again. Not gonna ever try to fish that rod again. Finally got a new graphite rod and life is good again. Leave relics to museums.

I learned yet another piece of fly fishing jargon. Tippet ring = swivel!
@drewshafer9379

The tippet rings are on the clip of the swivel...

One other thing that does cause a twisted fly line. I learned this the first time I fished the salt. Each false cast will induce a small amount of twist. If you have a bunch of line off the reel, but not out of the rod tip for a while, there will be be some line twist as a result. To get rid of it simply let the current take all the twisted line out. If it's real bad, cut the flies off. Then, try to keep only your working line out. This comes down to line control. That, IMHO, is every bit as important to casting.
@Madriveroutfitters
@Madriveroutfitters 5 лет назад
Yes, that technique works well in getting the "twist" out but you really should always remove the flies. Otherwise it greatly slows and hinders the process. Thanks for the input.

I do a lot of ice fishing here in northern Canada and was wondering if this ice off paste would still work say in the extreme cold(-30 to -40 degrees Celsius) on an ice rod
@Madriveroutfitters
@Madriveroutfitters 5 лет назад
On the product description it says "Even below zero" but can't comment on that much below and not going to be testing that any time soon. Hard to say for sure.

Awesome video. Have enjoyed them all very much. On this video however the background music is very loud on this one. Found it difficult to hear on times. Just a bit of feedback. Doesn't detract from a great video and great series.

Hey! Now I'm really confused. In another video you explain how a nonslip loop is good for streamers because you want that "live" wiggle, but here you say not to use a tippet ring that would result in a hinge on anything other than nymphs. Am I missing something? I'd send an email, but I just sent one today! 😁 Thanks much!
@Madriveroutfitters
@Madriveroutfitters 4 года назад
Erica Simonson Sorry but you’ll have to check with Brian or the shop about this. We don’t have a limit on email so you are ok.
@MapleGoodness
@MapleGoodness 4 года назад
Maybe a dumb question... But why woul a person tend to change tippet more frequently on a nymph rig (thus benefiting from a tippet ring) but not while fishing streamers? Wouldn't you still be losing tippet length while changing out streamers to find something that's working?
@Madriveroutfitters
@Madriveroutfitters 4 года назад
Send this question over to Brian at the shop and he'll respond there. He probably won't see it here and he'd be the one to answer of course.
