In 2007, a blonde girl just jumped on my foot in her way out of Naturalia, organic store in Paris. The blonde girl,Doutzen, was a L'Oréal model and later became a VS Angel. I didn't recognise her, she looked like a dutch tourist, not a model. She said that she struggled with VS and their body standards. I didn't know that you passed VS castings, but seriously you got the best : Maybelline Cosmetic contract, Acqua di Gioia, Sports Illustrated, Calzedonia (before Julia Roberts), and many many jobs and covers. You accomplished so much professionally and most important in your private life to ! You should be proud !

I’d love to know your favorite makeup products and self care products. It would also be neat to hear how you got into modeling/were “discovered.” And it would be cool to know your workout routine and how often and how long you work out for each week. Oh, and it would be awesome if you would do a “what’s in my travel bag and carryon” when traveling. What your favorite products are in flight and when traveling to take care of your skin, or to look fresh on a flight, or to look fresh when getting off a flight, or at night when traveling to calm your skin and keep it nice since you have sensitive skin.

I am so impressed that you kinda admitted that you just escaped from VS casting because that was something too difficult and hurt you self-esteem, cus we are often told that people are supposed to challenge themselves, always try their best to reach a certain goal and not be afraid of failure. But seriously, if that goal is not something necessary and is not gonna make your life significantly better, even though you finally get it, so what? What about all the stress, tears, pains, and hard works? We need to think about if it really worth, and it’s okay to just escape from something sometimes.

I just want to say that the moment I saw your face in one of my mom's magazines back when I was at the awkward age of 14 (I think it was your Giorgio Armani ad), I've always thought you were literally the most beautiful person I'd every seen. For the longest time, I just painted a picture in my head that you were just this perfect, can't possibly be insecure about anything, kind of person. And to be honest, when I was at that age and I literally had your picture in my closet, I was always wishing I looked like you instead of myself. And now that you've given yourself a platform to express yourself not just as a model but really as who you really are and what your thoughts are, I appreciate you so much more now. I teared up when you started talking about your insecurities and it brought me back to the times when I was insecure about not looking like you. You have a great outlook on life and your career. It's interesting how we see a career and may not know all that's involved in it. Modeling to many seems like a very glamorous profession but as you explained, it can be lonely and not what you expected. VS is missing out on a beautiful and smart woman.

thank you so much for being open about VS! that brand makes me and so many other girls feel like garbage && it's so nice to have those feelings validated from someone on the inside. esp in light of all their new marketing ploys about VS being for strong, independent women. i resent that so much ! like the brand is about being skinny && hot and even though that makes some people (e.g. me) feel shitty, it's not their job as a lingerie company to empower me. so they should just stick to their "this is sexy" campaigns and leave it at that!! it's so much worse for them to put out the exact same images while ALSO capitalizing on these female empowerment movements. the images used by VS do NOT empower normal women. it feels like a slimy way of getting away with doing the same amount of damage to women's self esteem without the criticism bc they market it as something that's supposed to make us feel good.

I love VS and think their lingerie is stunning. However, the fashion shows are not as they used to be. I do love how the models show their personality, but the entire production overshadows the "main event" - which is the lingerie/clothes. Nevertheless, I'm glad you realized being in the show isn't for you - instead of obsessing and going down a dark road that could have been detrimental to your entire being. Also, thanks for being vocal about it and showing that sometimes our #goals are not for us - but that doesn't have to break us. Simply go on a different path and set out new #goals :-)

VS time has come and gone. It's business is suffering, and I believe it's because it doesn't connect to the millennials it sells to. It's "not cool" anymore to be so try hard (i.e. push-up bras) and everyone conforming to one mold. For VS to say that they only hire "healthy, strong" models is such a bunch of BS that does a disservice to young girls. All the models who have done VS clearly state that the prep is crazy and all they do is workout and watch what they eat. It's not "healthy", realistic or aspirational to have to workout 3 hours a day everyday on a low calorie diet to maintain your body. Your self worth should be more than what you look like. Staying healthy is great but VS is promoting a type that requires it to be an obsession. So -- good for you for putting your health first and being a positive role model for young girls. I have worked in fashion on the other side (casting and creative director) and I can 100% say that modeling is a job that can break you if you aren't grounded and have support outside of it. It shouldn't be this way and it needs to change. When I requested a size 27 (jean) model, three of the top agencies literally had nobody to send me. Instead, they kept sending me size 25 models and occasionally underage girls (which I explicitly said I'm not casting) or "plus-size" models. There was nobody in between. Although the growth of plus-size is a positive direction towards inclusivity, it is still an industry that celebrates the extremes. People can still be aspirational beyond simply their size. Women need to demand more and better, especially for younger, impressionable girls.

I think VS in times of #meetoo is just not modern anymore. As a mother-to-be to a girl i dont want „role-models“ that keep talking about „me, soulcicle, green juice, me, dogpound, me-time and SELF-care“ it is so boring. As you said: they put themselves under so much pressure just to look like dolls without having a message or a strong voice.
