I received a ton of questions and answered as many as I could without having the video get too long. Now I'm off to plan a new series, so see you in October!
I normally go with top-down worldbuilding (I think, whatever Artifexian does) because that is my personal preference, but your videos about much more specific things like clothing, culture, flora etc. are so interesting and give me so many ideas for my own world, I look forward to any and all new videos you make! (also you have great movie taste 👌)
Niesamowicie satysfakcjonuje mnie fakt, że trafiam na kolejnego rodaka, który spełnia się w tym co robi i toworzy bardzo wartościowy kontent. Dajesz mi kopa do ruszenia czegokolwiek we własnych umiwersach, więc dziękuję. Dziękuję i życzę dalszego rozwoju, mnóstwa wiary w swoje możliwości i inspiracji!
Oo, I completely didn't expect you to be polish :D dobrze wiedzieć, że jest więcej rzeczywiście dobrych, polskich(ale anglojęzycznych bo tbh dużo bardziej lubie angielski) kanałów na youtube ^^ keep up the good work
Does the people of the basin have military forces? Do the King & Queens have an order of Royal Guards? Do they go to war against the hunting-gatherers of the hills?
They are quite peaceful at the moment, but the palace does have guards, if only to keep out any desperate aristocrats from getting in, but also for historical reasons.
I'm eternally impressed by your work, and especially when it comes to artwork you've been a definite driving force in my own creative process, at least in the sense of properly "visualizing" what i'm creating - you mentioned early in the video the problems with worldbuilding an "international scene" and for that I highly recommend "The Silk Roads - A new history of the World" by Peter Frankopan, where he essentially breaks down key points in history from the perspective of trade and international relations, it really helped me with my own ideas for the dispersion of goods, peoples, and ideas! Keep up the good work!
Congrats on 7k! It's so interesting that you started all this to make a series in Lojban. I think you're attracting people so quickly because your process and insights are so engrossing that people learn from them by osmosis. And the comment section is pretty dedicated, these fans you've earned aren't going away anytime soon!
Про грамматику при конструировании языков - это ты прям за душу взяла) Я сам пытаюсь создавать языки и придумывание грамматики для меня какой-то челлендж.
I have Debt the First 5,000 Years, and I plan to read! I got it for world building too because it was recommended by fans of the RPG Exalted! :D this channel puts me in awe! I will enjoy seeing it grow!
I love your artstyle! The way you use one outline colour works nicely for you and your art, but I appear to not have mastered it. Maybe it's because I draw with a mouse, heh. And overnight, i was thinking 'would people commission someone to build a world for them?' I could see it happening - maybe not build a world on such a large scale as the one in your first Worldbuilding series, but enough to get someone going. I've been loving your videos and hope that one day you'll be able to reach a few hundred thousand subscribers, maybe a million at one point. A hello and thank you for your content from England ~
There are some people employed to create worlds (among other things). Magic the Gathering releases 3 new card sets every year, and often they're set in a completely new world, which has been built by their creative team (and like you suggested, they're often kind of basic, not super fleshed out). And there are plenty of other companies that regularly create worlds for their products, though maybe not at the same rate. So yeah, it's definitely possible to make money creating worlds, though I wouldn't personally hold my breath for it, only very few people will actually have the opportunity to do it.
what good kitties! I love this channel. I've always known that I love books that place an emphasis on world building in the story but this channel has made me realize I really love world building for the sake of world building itself!
Congrats on 2-no-7000 subscribers! I came here from Artifexian and no I am hooked. Also, would love to see that extra credits style conhistory, hope it gets of the ground some day. And thanks for answering my question.
All of your work has been really helpful and inspiring to me. Thank you so much. You are doing something like magic. I hope you continue making videos, it's beautiful.
I am new to world building and conlanging, but i really enjoy your channel! You're one of my favorite world builders if not my single most favorite. But i am curious - what music do you like listening to? Favourite Bands/singers and songs?
On one of my conworlds, there is an island that is surrounded by mountains, and covered in light radiation. This has spawned many alien-looking creatures, and the people that got stranded there have mutated as well, and live very hectic lives, running from 60 foot flies and venemous worms.
Congratulations for 2000 subs! Well, now almost 8k and hopefully even more soon xD Also, I'm suprised to see another conlanger from Poland. There is a lot more of us than I thought Pozdrowienia z Warszawy! Ťarūshaya érakhazhi Sayarvanat Itlu qizhināmi Khshāyaraz Ahûrań Khshāyarvanazhi Aydīnirań dzalaite. In my conlang, literally: Envoy of the Divine Emperor of the Aydinirian Empire sends words/signs of respect to the Itlu People But because obviative is used this sentence means more like: Divine Emperor of the Aydinirian Empire, through his envoy, sends words/signs of respect to the Itlu People
Oh wow how did you suddenly get to 7K?? With such a niche topic as well. I think that speaks to the quality of your videos Also: yay, my question got answered! For me the biggest challenge in conlanging is deciding what phoneme string to assign to each affix - it's such a difficult balancing act to create inflection/derivation paradigms that are satisfying to me
I love, how you make history of each word - this is the best thing, that I've encountered ^^ Łaaał! Stawiałem, że jesteś Rosjanką :D Życzę wszystkiego dobrego! And I bet, that you can see polish interpunction in my sentences :D
I can't help but picture you as an Asian person. I don't know why. Also, i can't help but feel that you're smiling in your audio. I kinda expected you to chuckle at any moment.
Jasc Random I think it is because here art is influenced by anime and that is really the main indicator of her race that you know of just watching the videos, Other then her accent. So it makes sense to draw that conclusion
I don't see the Anime influence in her art, its more similar to Steven Universe. However, the way she illustrates her world, the dresses and houses, does remind me of South East Asian aesthetics. The Fungi reminds me of the spirit world in the Avatarverse. Although, in her videos in Lojban, i thought she was talking in some South East Asian Language.😂😂
I know exactly what you mean. When she said she was from Europe in a different video I assumed her heritage was southeast asian but she was born/moved to Europe
Before I knew she was polish i thought she was European (Slavic?) in someway I guess it’s because I’ve learned a lot of Slavic and European languages and usually know what they sound like and what their accents are like.
Mówisz po polsku?! Jest świetnie. If you couldn’t tell from my terrible Polish, I’m trying to learn Polish. But wow, it’s complicated. I recognized your accent before, but I wasn’t sure.
Hehe, I am doing one large whole world, which I plan to lead through time, since about two years now and I am still only at my climate map, but I already have tons of other concepts. You said it is only possible with a whole team? I doubt that, I bet it is also possible if oneself is willing to invest a lifetime;) And this is exactly what I am planning to do. Also I am wondering what you will do for your soon to come 10000 subscriber video:P
No more specials until 20 000 :P And yeah, a single person could build something more interconnected and expansive, but that person would not be me, I tend to get bored and move on pretty fast. This world is actually the one I've stuck with for longest, I usually get bored after just a few months...
Worldbuilding Notes Thanks for replying:) Yeah, I get that (^_^)' I was exactly the same until I started that big world I am working on right now. I actually started it because I got sick of always dumping half ready worlds left and right and I wanted to see what I could do when I put my mind and heart to it;) So far I am quite satisfied but there is no end in sight. I'm already looking forward to new insights into the river valley, your videos are honestly the ones I'm looking forward the most right now here on youtube:) Keep up the great work! No pressure tho:)
There's a bunch of shows that aired during the years when I was super into anime, but then most of them ended up fading into obscurity. Sketchbook Full Colours is one of the shows I remember really loving back then though, it was so nice and calming!
When I heard you for the first time, I thought you were probably German. Then, as I listened to you more, I switched to Polish. And it turns out, że miałem rację.
If you live in eastern Europe and speak Polish and Lithuanian, where do you live then? Do you live in Lithuania, maybe Vilnius or thereabouts (I wouldn't really call it eastern Europe though), where there are many bilingual (Polish-Lithuanian) people? Or maybe in Russia? Why are you being so seretive! :D
I drew an equirectangular-projection map in photoshop and then converted it to a different projection using the maptoglobe.com/ site, which also can be used to create spinning globe animations! It's a very useful site.
