I'm glad that he stopped being close minded and opened up for metal. I did the same for rap in 1997-1998. And it worked for awhile :) Still digging those older tunes.
I feel like people throw all kinds of criticism your way that you really dont deserve. We all go through the growth and stuff. Some of it is because it seems like you let your mood affect the music too much but overall I really do think you are a very charismatic and energetic guy. You just seem like a very likeable guy and I've love watching you grow more and more open minded through this journey. The same thing has been happening to me recently. I hated metal a few months ago. It's been a great journey. LETS KEEP IT GOINNNNN!!!!!
By the way, when you do the next Megadeth album today PLEASE do not skip “In My Darkest Hour” .. it starts off a little slow but is one of their best songs of all time!
Just wanna send a big "thank you" your way for keeping up with these videos. It's a blast watching them, even if you don't agree with my opinion on a song or a band. And on a side note, my 18 month old daughter has been watching these with me for a while now, and she LOVES your reactions. Keep it goin'!
Really appreciate your open-mindedness and philosophy on the music. You've really inspired me to check out different genres, and as a budding metalhead, I find myself having a similar taste as you, and have found some great bands through you! Keep doing what you're doing man, it's awesome!
greetings from portugal. What i most like in your reactions its the growth of your heavy metal taste, you started this saying your not a metal guy but right now your are becoming a metalhead lol. seeing your face discovering the heavy metal world is priceless. metal is so much more than noise. i used to be a pure heavy guy and when i opened my horizons and started to discovery other genres, that was refreshing to me. keep the awesome work
LOL So true. Something else people need to take into consideration.. especially those of us who grew up with these bands.. we had on average 1-2 years to fully digest each album before the next was released. We got to fully experience the highs and lows.. the videos.. the concerts.. the radio airplay that a few of them received as it happened. We got to anticipate the release of their next album. You.. on the other hand.. are literally having to digest and process decades of music in mere days. A daunting task for anyone. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the bands and albums even if you do not like the specific band, album, or song. The best part of this journey is that you have found music which you enjoy enough to add to your personal playlist. That, alone, makes this all worthwhile whether shared with us viewers or kept in private. The music is what matters most. Peace
Thank you for answering my question on the origin of your channel name! Been following since linkin park days! Keep it up brotha! Favorite channel on RU-vid nothing better than getting off work and watching your videos.
YOUYOUYOU!!! Quick tip you may not know: when searching a band on Spotify you can scroll to a section of related artists. So if you like a certain band you can easily find similar bands that way
Based on that you like metal that's a bit more "funky" I highly recommend checking out Rammstein. Most fans here will probably agree that you'd enjoy them. As for my personal suggestion: If you ever want to go back to more electronic music, I recommend checking out Combichrist. They're an electro band that slowly evolves into a metal band.
People shouldn't expect you to like everything they like, especially if it's more on the experimental/extreme side. You can't expect someone who is new to metal to enjoy harsh vocals and fast paced instrumentation. These things take time. What's important is that he's at least trying.
Hahaha!!! I really love your positivity about Metal! I dunno what else to say, other than....welcome to the family!! Oh, and....I bet you were the last one back in the building! Hope they don't dock your pay! Haha!!
I know you’re done with Linkin Park but you should also listen to the songs they’re featured in like: We made it with Busta Rhymes/ Darker than blood with Steve Aoki/ It’s Goin’ down with X-ecutioners/ also their single New Divide. Just a thought👍🏻
It´s a pleasure seeing you grow and overcome and break some barriers in your mind. I´ve been there, most of us have been there, so it´s a joy to relive this transformation through you. Keep it up !
Cool video man. Love your reactions. My questions would be: What got you interested in doing reactions? Least favorite school subjects? For one day, would you rather have one eyebrow or half a mustache (not allowed to say neither)? What rappers and bands make you cringe? What are your Top 5 favorite bands that you've reacted to so far? Anyways, keep up the good work man :)
Keep doing what your doing!Keep being you! That’s why you are so entertaining! Love watching you react to Metal. Try out some Kamelot,Queensryche,Helloween or King Diamond.I think they will give you what you want
Would you be willing listen to other types of rock like punk rock? If so, I would suggest starting off with Bad Religion or NOFX if you want to give punk rock a try and punk has it's own sub genres too just like every other type of rock.
Tompa83 Yes they enjoy radio friendly pop flavored metal. That dreamy boy band sound hits home wirh the ladies. Likin Park, Evenesense, Issues for example. Also all the slow ballads I try to skip they say hold up I like that one. Lol
Yooooou, yoooou, YOU !!!!! Awesome watching your channel !!!! Love seeing that I'm not the only one that skips song's and comes back to listen to them later..... anyways.... curious if you've tried getting your kids to listen to heavy metal ??? I have with my 14 year old daughter whose into lil Uzi, lil dicky and a lot of other little's.... I love the debates and the bonding talks we have....
Towards the end of the Megadeth marathon get as many people to request them as possible. It worked for Gojira and now Megadeth, Lamb of God is due. TBF though, people have been spamming Megadeth for months. I wouldn't be surprised if he did a draft regardless. If he does a 3 way draft again it could be in our favor.
well said, props! Now I expect you to be grooving to blast beats within a year. I also expect a whisky night video next to a fireplace doing all the skipped ballads
Listen to Opeth, you will love them. I repeat you. Will. Love them. Their early stuff is prog death metal but around about the album Still Life they GROW and become more progressive. They are 1/2 death metal and 1/2 prog rock folk
Dammit...more sleeps till Rust in Peace!! I got into watching your videos from the Rage vid..sent shivers down my spine to see someone experience such a great ablumn like I did all those years ago. Would love to see reactions to Royal Blood, Faith No More and RHCP...Blood Sugar Sex Magic. Yeah, not metal, but just the stuff I was into as a kid...classic albums for me. Midlife crisis?!
Lee Wideman I was actually envious for him to hear Cowboys from Hell for the first time :) Reminded me of what it was like when i heard it the first time in 1990.
you really must do Black Sabbath. they invented the genre. they grew and changed in all kinds of ways. And even when they changed singers they routinely recruited fantastic vocalists (in fact their 2nd vocalist was arguably one of the best voices in the history of metal - right up there with iron maiden and judas priest's singers).
What is the best way to register a recommendation with you? How do we get you to consider lesser-known bands that have excellent discographies, some of which are even better than some big bands?
Great post. Love your reply to the haters. Simply put... You can't please everybody. Don't get me wrong, I do agree with a lot of folks about not skipping tracks (after only giving it a 10-15 second shot to impress you) as metal has a funny way of doing a complete "180" by the end of the track (and on some tracks, this happens 2 or 3 times). But on the other hand, I do like how you wrap up a 45-60 minute album up in about 10-15 minutes (pauses included) to help along us ADHD folks.
Heyyyy Youuuuu. I like U you man. You´re so funny and positive !!! Nice to see how u have fun and give metal a try and do this marathon of great bands. loool love it when u search for things and throw it to the cam :). So i wish you a good week and im waiting for your next video. I love Maiden, Megadeth, Priest too and stuff like this... Hope you react one day a german metal band like running wild, grave digger .... See yaaaaYouuu :)
Its awesome to see someone whos close minded about rock/metal experience it and love it! You wanna keep broadening your horizon man... Check out the Dropkick Murphys... they aint metal... They Celtic Punk but damn do those boys go hard! Good shit dude keep it going!!!!
Hi dude I know you get lots of artist suggestions but you should really check out Shadows Fall since you like a bit of growling and guitar solos, and this band is one of the best!
I kinda looked at slow calm songs at the end of albums like the rainbow after a thunderstorm. You get a lot of loud chaos during the storm, but at the end the sun comes back out in a relaxing way. But most of the songs that start off that way tend to shift and change, like one from Metallica. If anything just fast forward through it to see if it's worth your time.
One thing you could do that I think will grow your channel much faster is put the names of the songs in the description or in the tags. Because when people are searching on RU-vid for first time reactions or reviews they aren’t searching the album name and then reaction, they are searching the song name. I think this small change could take you from 13k subs to 100k in a very short period of time.. like I’ve said you’ve got all the content, but it’s just not getting out there. Just my thoughts , ouuuut!
My advice is not to do any death or black metal until you have gone through plenty of thrash and other genres as both death metal and black metal are hard to get into but very very rewarding
Im glad you liked maiden and priest cause they are metal legends. Same with megadeth man maybe more trashy and not your style but give it a try cause they are metal legends too
Here's what I don't like, (fill in the blank) poster getting triggered and/or offended simply because you don't like a track or a band. People have different opinions and those folks that get mad, how 'bout you create your own channel and do your own reviews? Keep doing your thing dude. \m/
Technoir I strongly disagree amigo, he's an excellent guitarist and a great songwriter but he's always been an awful singer. Dreadful, nasal, whiney, horrendous. His snarl is his one redeeming vocal quality.
Do you work at a Red Bull or Monster energy drink factory? Just wondering cuz you said you feel energized after work and every job I've ever had made me feel like a freaking comatose victim of conformity.
Yeah, I think he might have meant idk Metallica? I remember during one of those first four albums, he was like "yeah, this is the stereotypical image of metal [or the 80s sound or something] I had in my mind" and how he was pretty lukewarm to that. I think the idea was basically like.. he just didn't know all the types of styles metal had in the 80s, and assumed it was all like [INSERT BAND HERE].
TheKarret he said his idea of metal before he started doing these videos is pretty much what he thought of when he listened to that black album lol. I noticed he calls 80s bands throwback, and he did that with Korn lol. I think he lasted about 3 or 4 Korn albums before he quit.
HEY. Where's my next Megadeth reaction?? And yea. The skipping is annoying :D Metal is very progressive. Songs start out one way and end up in a totally different place. Megadeth has done that for ages. The next 2 albums are just like that. And you're now handling metalheads. We're very protective and anal about the bands we love. Opinions are fine, but skipping on songs. That's blasphemy :) And i'm glad that we, the metal community (which you're a part of now) could help push you on your journey :)
downshifter 27 totally agree I am a huge Judas priest fan but with the music rob halford put out I think I might be a bigger rob halford fan that voice and the song writting.cause I really didn't care for tipper Owens era so yes it's all about the metal God...
downshifter 27 I have that disc I will have to pull it out and give it another try... haven't listened to it since it came out ..it just wasn't rob..but I will give it another chance
Eh, who knows what he'll make of it. Maybe he won't like the slower cuts as you say, but maybe he'll like the heavier, more animalistic material, songs like territorial pissings, tourettes and so on and so on. That said, a lot of the songs are quite simple, so there's that too.
Maybe he’d be into Bleach more than Nevermind and In Utero since it’s the heaviest stuff Nirvana has done but even for a Marathon, i think it’d be too short because of the short career Nirvana had. Sure bands like RATM and Nirvana are absolute classics but, they only have 3 studio albums each without counting the demos, live performances and covers. So yeah, it would still be entertaining to watch but at least if he doesn’t like it, there is not a lot of albums to go through. x)
