Thanks so much for all your questions! I decided to split this video into two parts, and the next part should be up shortly. My next Q&As might be more focused on one topic, but for now I hope this offers you some advice as well as getting to know me a little better :)

Hello Athena! I recently discovered your videos and I absolutely love them! Some things I would be interested in in future videos: -how to prepare/pack for wild camping -how/what do you cook when wild camping -how do you clean up after cooking without leaving a trace -How do you keep yourself clean when wild camping without impacting the environment I really enjoy your vlogs especially the music with the great scenery!

Thanks Hannah! Solo-camping still makes me nervous sometimes - I don't think that ever really goes away - but it is a great experience and when done in the right frame of mind can be really fun :)

Aww thanks! I tried to make a cosy little corner to film in. I could do a little house tour incorporated into another video. I don't think it would make a great full video as the house is small, and this is the best room! :)

I would also love to see your house and particularly your van! I’m desperate to get a small van (more affordable and easier to park!) for weekends away with my partner but am unsure on how to best use the space - so would be interested to see your space and hear about any other van plans you may have ☺️ Wishing you and yours a wonderful 2020 xx

Hi Athena, what a good watch this has been, loving that you are relaxing into the role model that you are. It’s not easy to put yourself out there and show young and old that there’s a lot more to life than sitting on your butt and watching TV 😂. You have real passion for the outdoors and it shows as you explain and answer the questions. I will be checking out part 2 when I get a moment to myself. Keep doing what you are doing it’s definitely working. Take care x

I most definitely love your view on the always-going mentality that is so prevalent nowadays. It's so cool that you cycled through the whole of NZ! I lived in the south a little while and heard of people doing crazy adventures like that from time to time, it's impressive, especially when you see the hills in NZ!!

For the absolute beginner it is so valuable hearing tips from experienced walkers such as yourself. I particularly liked the romantic story in Weatherspoons; that must have been like a dream, particularly meeting a fellow walker! Such butterflies! A first for any vid! There is a Weatherspoons here in Stroud; perhaps I should start hanging out there...…. Like you, because of my parents work, I grew up abroad, mainly Malta and California (Santa Monica), and was outside all of the time, swimming, surfing, camping in Yosemite NP etc. I am so thankful I grew up abroad in nice warm interesting places.

Hey athena, greetings from germany. I weirdly stumbled across your channel a few weeks ago and i could not have found a better new years inspiration. I have been into outdoorsy stuff for a while now - but more on a longer vacation kind of basis. I now really want to incorporate it more into my life as your videos made me so much calmer and also quite confident in myself. I wonder if you could also make a video about your favourite gear in the future? I notice that you have A LOT of patagonia Stuff and I too like them as a brand because of their ethics and the well thought through quality. I wonder what you would recommend. I have one of their fleecy lined hoodies and I definately want more gear from them :) I would love for you to answer my questions (if you*re not too busy)

I do sometimes but not very well!! I like moving quickly in the hills when running, but I miss not being able to take photos and film as easily!

Well... What I discovered filming this video is you actually only need 5-6 questions to make a 15 minute video! I can't say I'm a big runner but here's a question... what advice would you give someone on committing to trail running? I tend to go on a few runs and then give up after a month or so, can't mind the motivation to keep going..!

@@RambleFamily Ok for the sake of this time, I'll answer here and on my first Q&A then! 1) sign up for an event, that way you will hold yourself more accountable 2) go with a friend, that way it's a social thing also BONUS) have the right gear/equipment, very much like hiking, if you don't have the right gear you are probably less likely to enjoy it or go out in various conditions. As I said I'll also add this, thanks for the push :)

How do you choose your gear? I am looking into buying some camping things (tent, sleeping bag etc.) but am struggeling with choosing. Some things are so very pricey, how will I know when it is good quality and when it's just too ridiculous? Thank you!

I liked on the outskirts of Melbourne. I don't actually remember a lot apart from just being outdoors and playing in the garden with my siblings all the time :) I think it was a great way to grow up!

Question: Are you familiar with AllTrails? I use it a bunch here in the US for planning day hikes and backpacking trips. I’ve been hard pressed to find a trail that wasn’t on the app and I can see my location on the map and on the highlighted route at anytime. It’s not as experiential as using a physical map but may help beginners know where to start exploring. P.s. love the channel, just found it but it’s great to have on in the background at work! Cheers!

Yes will make a video about it! But honestly I have a knife and whistle for safety. I would also recommend camping away from a path in a discreet location, don't post on social media about where you're going and what you're doing but make sure you tell at least one person exactly where you are planning to camp.

Talking about safety...now we know Harvey is a great guy, but being a young girl, I think I would have felt afraid of going with a stranger for an hour ride in his car...but many things I did when I was younger, now I see how they could have been "risky" too.

Yeah I lived abroad until I was 9. It was a MASSIVE culture shock coming back to the UK, but I love living here now :)

@@ninahorn I think it's changed a lot in the last decade.. when I was there was only a small ex-pat community so I think life was a little different and we integrated a lot more!
