2:40 Alright, Currently a Licensed Esthetician (Going back to school for a full cosmo) here's what I can say based on my experiences and my colleagues experiences. School just prepares you for your respective state's boards. There is some hands on and basic stuff, but you don't really learn until you get out into the field. That's not a dig on any school, it's just the bare minimum to make sure you know how sanitize, pass boards, and not hurt yourself or your client. If you want to just do esthetics or nails; and you know for a fact, then yes I would recommend finding a school that specializes in those programs only because they are often half the hours of a full cosmo program, meaning it will cost less. (Most Cosmetology schools offer dedicated programs for Esthy and nail tech) However, if you're in a Cosmo program and find that you don't have much of a passion for hair as much as, let's say make up: depending on the state, Cosmo license often supercedes the others (So they can also do facials, waxing, manicures, acrylics, etc) Just because you're in a certain program doesn't limit you on what you can learn, but it can limit on you can be licensed to do, if that makes sense.
