I just had a prophylactic double mastectomy for LCIS on 5.22.2024. I was unprepared for the feeling of extreme tightness I'm left with. I've been stretching and doing exercises but I hate this feeling of tightness. Does it get better? Does it ever go away? What helped you the most? Thanks!
hi! I have the video on the stretches I did, I got them from the sloan kettering website. I started off easy and only did what i was capable of without over stretching. I had my full mobility back within a few months. swimming also helps. its been a year since my prophylactic double mastectomy and i have full mobility and i am able to do everything i was doing before my surgery. @@ErikawithaK Thanks! Does the feeling of having something stuck on your chest ever go away? I have full mobility on the right side now, but the left side is still tight b/c of the node biopsy--as well as the general tightness. My posture has always been poor, and many of the exercises I've seen on YT for post mastectomy patients are the very same ones I'm supposed to do for that. Thank you soooo much for all of your videos! They have all been so helpful!
@@joann5157 I had that feeling of feeling almost "stuck" to my skin/chest. I kept doing arm raises on the wall and in the air, and as you mentioned, I tried to be more aware of my posture because I think that the feeling "stuck" was from slouching and healing like that, so whenever i could, i would straighten up my torse to the best of my ability without over doing it. It's important to catch it now and work on stretches.. so to answer your question lol, YES the feeling did go away for me, completely, but I consciously worked on it, a little everyday. @@ErikawithaK You described the feeling perfectly. It's as if I have contact paper or something stuck to my chest above the incision. I've been doing light massage, working on my very poor posture, and stretching. I'm beginning to feel a little less stuck.
