I just watched a video on here posted by Daniel Morad in his Mercedes GT car and I was amazed at the amount of travel in the brake pedal.

With the long travel kit and the softer elastomers, you will get a similar feeling to the pedals, which have a bit more travel 🙌😄

I always wondered about this since seeing pedal cam footage from Lando. Personally in my rig i have very hard elastomers as it helps with muscle memory for me.

Spot on! This is true in my Radical SR3XX, E36 M3 racecar without brake booster and every formula car I've driven. Takes some getting used to, but I feel the control is much better once you do. Sim brakes are not ideal in general since there's no real feedback, but for immersion purposes I much prefer a short and stiff brake pedal.

What do you think? Huge improvement over the LCMs? Some adjustment period required no doubt?

@@dimsoneill Yes huge improvement, I've not seen any videos/articles comparing the two so I may do one. My trail braking feels much better than before (easier to control)

One important factor in brake feel might be the significant deceleration forces present in race cars (especially formula cars) which help multiply the force a driver can exert on the pedal when braking, as the driver is thrown forward with the brake pedal absorbing (a small) part of those forces. Naturally, within a sim pit environment, those real world deceleration forces are absent. Therefore having the brakes 100% as stiff as in a real car, might not make for the most accurate simulation.

Good to know! 👍 As an aside, your new line up of wheelbases and pedals seem like an interesting proposition positioned between entry level DD bases and loadcell and hydraulic pedals and the upper end of the market. I’ll be looking forward to the reviews coming out in the future. I’m not yet in a hurry to jump on the DD train despite the obvious benefits, but it’s nonetheless nice to see more competition such as yourself enter this market. That said, I must say your product strategy and well thought out design choices have definitely piqued my interest. ;)

I 100% believe that they feel realistic. However in a real race car, under braking your inertia will push you into the pedals once u stab it with ur foot. Achieving high brake pressures is easier when you're in a moving vehicle than in a stationary sim. (Psychologically you're also more ready for physical exertion) And brake modulation with a short pedal throw is no problem, since you use mostly ur senses as feedback for how much you can push the brakes and how to get off the brakes. In a stationary simulator you don't have that fine detail feeling in your entire body. So a longer a softer pedal here helps to have more breathing room. Just a consideration for the endless "Realism vs Immersion vs Practicality vs Esports" discussion online haha. I personally like them stiff with a short pedal throw, but i heard a few people use this argument and I find it fair.

You are absolutely correct, but even compensated for that, a driver still often pushes +100kg in the hard braking zones. We are very soon releasing an elastomer kit with 6 different hardnesses calibrated according to driver leg input. Then all kind of drivers/level will be able to simulate the hard brake pedal according to their own ability and liking :)

@@AsetekSimSports fml: steering 😂 i mean how many NM are actually requiered these days in real racecars (like for example for realism in sim racing, does a 27nm base make sense only when driving indycar? and how close do gt cars get to that number in real life?)

as for formula 1 brakes, they are no longer computer assisted, and are some of the hardest brakes to push they travel less than 5 cm and are rock hard to press
