One simple way to check the string height is try to stick different picks under the 1st string on 12th fret. Not that it matters much but some people really eager to get the number :)
This is very well thought out set up. Not complicated but you can do all you could ever want. People can easily end millions of dollars on studio gear and still not get the sound. With what you use, and the sound you get, I tip my hat in high respect to your abilities. I think you've got it very good. This is making me reassess my spaghetti factory wire mess and overly complicated, outdated machines and just create a clean compact but powerful set up like yourself. I am envious. Two of these, my friend -->👍 Tchuus..
Another awesome no filler video! I seriously appreciate the authenticity you provide. Thanks for always sharing your tips and tones and not being the stereotypical "youtuber".
My signature one obviously and I like SoundofGod2 & GreasyBeard a lot too and some of the designed for cleans are great too and Kohle’s pack has great ones too. Can’t remember the names now. But mostly I use my signature one ’cos that works great on everything 😎👌.
Hi Euge. Awesome that a great artist like you shares his ideas, insights on how to set up everything up to get a great guitar sound. Thnx, man!! One question… I assume the Radial J48 is connected after the Wampler DB booster and the J48 goes to the guitar input on the back of the KHE, and the xlr output of the J48 goes to input of the Steinberg Audio Interface on the front? Do you still use the reamp box in this setup? Keep bringing these awesome video’s please! Thnx!!! 🤘🏻
Thanks man! Yes exactly like that 👌. I use the re-amp box if I need to reamp something. Which is hardly ever 😎. But I’ve used it every now & then if I mix something I haven’t recorded myself ’cos I always ask the band / artists to deliver also guitar & bass DI signals so I can reamp them with my amps if needed to get the mix sound better.
Did you do a video about what is different in the circuit of the BAD BOY compared to a regular 2203, apart from it not using EL34s? It can kick the ass of the 2203ZW by quite a lot, so something is going on in there. I think a lot of people would want to know, so they can mod their Marshall to be BAD too. :D
Yeah and here’s a few ones about the subject 😎: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5s-Dd9C-tno.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5I6nTYCEpVs.html
Informative as always. The amount of time you take to answer every comment and to do everything possible to answer viewer questions is awesome. Love this channel brother 🤘🤘🤘
Hi Euge , it's sure on your JCM 800 you don't have Effect loop but me i have JCM 2000 DSL 100 i have one and i gonna use that because with full overdrive it's preferable to use loop for not interfering the sound. If you play blue rock it's ok you can plug in front. You can use in front anyway but big overdrive normaly is in behind amp.
Well as the name suggests: overdrive drives the amp over so in front the amp it is. Try to put SD-1 (or any basic od) in the loop and it sounds horrible 😁. But whatever works man 😎👌. (Pre) Amp like od / dist pedals are another story and they work both ways.
For the next Q&A or guitar lesson video you could share your tips&tricks about left and right hand string muting techniques. I think that's an area that you have not covered so far. Thx once again for the great content you share.
Btw, I need some advice. No matter the string brand. I always break the D string. I even downgraded to a 1.0 mm pick. I use to use 1.5 mm but it would break sooner. The strings aren’t that old either. Ever have that problem?
Check out the guitar’s bridge and change the ”piece” of that string to new one. That usually helps. Hardly ever but if I’ve had it has been usually the aforementioned reason.
Wow Euge- you play a LOT quieter in that room then I would have thought! I could hear you pick on the strings louder then the actual guitar... Might have to get the Bogren - that really allows nice tone to be dialed back to reasonable volumes through the cabinet. I have a Boss TAE- I need to work with it more- but it doesn't sound as good as what I just heard from the Bogren when you turned up the cabinet...
@@EugeValovirta230V Yep! The St Rock React is what I meant- not the Bogren IR's- I thought I changed my question but apparently not- thanks for the quick response! On their website now...
Hi Euge, really enjoyed this video. I have a question regarding the 8020D monitors. I’m currently looking to purchase some monitors and would appreciate some feedback on the 8020D speakers. Why the 8020D? What other monitors did you consider? Are you happy with them? Are you planning to upgrade/change to other monitors anytime soon, and why? Thanks again. Love the videos. P.S. You should review the Rockerverb 100 MKIII and run the Boss SD in front ;). Hopefully MusiX can hook you up.
Those were the ones I bought like 10-15 years ago and Genelecs are awesome in general and those were in my budget then. I never really considered anything else ’cos Genelecs are pretty much an industry standard. I’ve been really happy with them but I’ve considered every now & then to upgrade to bigger Genelecs that’d ”go deeper” but I’ve been using these so long that ”why fix if it ain’t broken” 😎. Definitely if I get my hands on one someday 👌.
Great video, I thought you were using the Boss tube amp expander along with the KHE and therefore had a way to put an fx after the power stage. Any reason you are using the other attenuator now? Better feel or sound?
Thanks! I’ve never used the Boss amp expander but always the Suhr Reactive Load IR and the St.Rock React:IR 👌😎. No need for me to put effects after power stage since I add them in Cubase if needed when I’m recording & mixing.
Very useful information, presented very clearly, as always. Do you have a "Sub-Woofer" connected to the Genelec Speakers/Monitors? Do you use the Genelecs for mixing or mastering, or do you use headphones? What kind of headphones do you use for listening to you sound in the computer? Thanks
Thanks! I don’t have a subwoofer and I use Sennheiser HD650 headphones usually just to check out the low end ’cos they ”go down” 😎. I also use Sonarworks reference calibration software for my speakers & headphones. It’s absolutely fantastic and I have no idea how I’ve managed to mix / master / listen anything without it.
I know a lot of newer players love this stuff, but I still find it interesting what other players use. Nice video Euge. I have been wondering what studio monitors those are. I don't recognize them. And wondered if you're using a sub monitor since there so small.
Glad to hear! They’re Genelec 8040Ds if I remember correct. No subwoofer but I use Sennheiser 650HD headphones to check the low end if needed. And I use Sonarwork’s Reference calibration system on both to get a really flat response 👌.
@@EugeValovirta230V Oh ok. I appreciate it. I couldn't place which ones they are. Obviously a great response for there size or you wouldn't be using them. Thanks. I'm using IK Media monitors these days that are only a little bigger but sound great and have room calibration to get a flat response too. Monitors don't need to be the size of a car anymore.
I think they’re 8040 something. Genelec don’t make those anymore but they have similar ones nowadays. Can’t remember the model but 8040 something I think.
Hi Euge. Paul from Texas here. Question for you...How do you put modulation effects in the effects loop using the Softube JCM800? I have Amproom and the Marshall cab pack. Also, which Jens Bogren IR pack has your signature IR? Leads and Cleans?
Hi Paul, Just put it after the amp ”block” before the cab. Or you can put it after the cab too like what you do when mixing a song and want to add post effects (dly & rev for example). Leads & Cleans yes 👌.
@@EugeValovirta230V Recently in one of your videos about Marshall Amproom, you used a micropitch shifter, delay, and a chorus from Tru plugins (Not sure of the spelling of the name of the company) and compared the modulation plugins signal chain before and after the pre-amp. The sound you got from the modulation plugins in the effects loop was super wide and super cool. How did you do that? Thank you for all you do and for your RU-vid channel Euga.
Stereo track in DAW and then add the effects in the track’s inserts or create a separate aux track for the effects and then put that in the aforementioned stereo tracks send / return (pre-fader) 👌😎. And if the effect has a mono / stereo option choose stereo 😊.
You’re welcome! Can’t remember having any issues. I’ve sometimes used .70 and then I needed to drill the hole on the tuner bigger and tweak the nut too 😁.
Hey Levan, I like it a lot. Not really but obviously there is a bit different since the speakers get less power than what they’re designed to get but that’s not ’cos of the attenuator but the speakers if you know what I mean 😎👌.
It should work automatically when you go to check out so the discount is already in place. This is the first time I’m hearing this so it should work like a charm 😎.
