If you read through the Cafe forums, the maker states that the nut is not actually needed to perform the trick. The gimmick is the long bolt itself. HOWEVER, it's EASILY noticeable that the bolt itself basically has a spring part - which is the part which bends(you can even see the spring part becoming dark, whilst the bending is taking place, in the video - which is what a spring actually does when it bends). Additionally, on the Cafe, it's also been stated that you CANNOT hand this out in its bent form, for examination. The bolt must be straightened before being handed out (unless you do a switch).
if you watched the dl ( which is evident that you have not), you would have known that the dl does come with an alternate handling on how to show the bent bolt for examination
It's pretty clear how the gimmick is made. If they managed to get the correct thread profile and the ends are welded the machining alone is probably worth the cost.
little disappointed that a matching bolt isn't referenced in the café discussion. Do the makers really just say "go to the hardware store and find something similar" or do they tell you the bolt specs so you can pick up near identical real bolts?
I purchased Strongman in hopes of adding something very new and magical to my assortment. Let me start by saying that I am 54 and own my own business where my clients like to see me do some magical entertainment. I do not do card routines. I find I need to perform quick magical effects that have a powerful impact. So, I use an ITR, Pen Thru Anything, Rubberband Magic, Thumb Tip routines, scotch and soda, coins across, etc. I love the Strongman illusion. It's quick, powerful, magic that adds a mental mind bend to my collection and is very easy to perform. I recommend it to anyone who enjoy new items that present big and pack small.
Was about to purchase strongman, but you just talked me out of it. First, it's obvious to me how it's done, but it you mentioning all the downsides that stopped me from ordering. Thanks for saving me money
