You should check out Steppenwolf .That was a totally rad band in the late 60s . They had a very political vibe about the wrong doing with the injustices of the man and the war and they were totally on point with MONSTER .You cannot have complete 60s early 70s record collection without a Steppenwolf album and you have to be Born To Be Wild ..

Not sure if John Lennon is the GREATEST singer rock/rock and roll has given us, but he's certainly one of them. Congrats Abby! Been checking out your channel for a while now and have been really enjoying it. Can only imagine how hectic it probably is to gather up all your research and info about the albums you talk about and putting it all together and editing and all, but the payoff is indeed worth it. And kudos to you for being a lady in your 20s in 2023 and having the hots for someone like Rob Tyner. We need more like you! ;) All the best. :)

I live close to Detroit and I would love to go back to see multiple shows at the Grande. The first time the Who played Tommy. MC5 kick out the jams Mfer and many more. The Grande is where the phrase Sex, Drugs and Rock And Roll came from. That would be cool I could have hung out with Hendrix and all the bands. At the Grande fans had access to the bands.

I guess I have two regret buys, that I can think of. 1. I went to a record convention about 20 or 30 years ago and spotted a guy with a 78 pressing of Audrey's, "Letter To Elvis"!! Had I been there or, at least where he found it, moments before, I'd have grabbed it!! The 45 is hard enough to come by but, I've got one...or two! Still haven't seen or found another copy of the 78! 2. When I first joined my band (Younglust, eventually becoming Thin White Line), our guitarist was a huge fan of Capt, Beefheart! So much so that everyone just called HIM, Beefheart! I heard some of their stuff (Troutmaskreplica) and hated it! UNTIL, I was told by the two lead guys in my band that they actually WRITE that stuff!! Then, the lightbulb went on and I really got into it!! Within a few months, Beef told my singer that I understand Beefhearts music better that he (Beef) does!! Well, his copy of Troutmask was on a cassette which was very cheaply made by Warner Brothers!! There were no rollers inside the mechanism, just two curved pieces of the same plastic the mechanism was made from and they were PART of the mechanism so, they didn't move AT ALL!! Towards the end of either side of the tape, there was this annoying screech heard through the whole last quarter of each side!! This was the sound of the tape trying to be pulled across these curved bits!! Eventually, the tape, itself, snapped and Beef gave it to me to splice back together for him. I did but it was never the same again. Well, I wanted my own copy of the album so I went to the local record store and asked them to order a copy for me (this was the early `80's), they did and, a few days later, I had my own copy...on Bizarre Records!! I just figured it's some kind of re-issue and I might never get a copy on the original, Straight label. I made the mistake of playing it, one time, on a slightly bad needle. Seeing as how Beef didn't care so much (he and his GF would sometimes put naked albums on the carpet so the cats could run up and jump on them and skate across the floor on them!!), I decided to give him my copy for his b-day and went to the same store to order another copy! Well, I got another copy but it was on Warner Brothers, this time! The early `80's label!! A couple years later, Beef & I got into a major argy bargy and he wanted nothing to do with me ever again!! Another couple years later, I found out that that album is NOT supposed to exist on Bizarre!! So far, I've never seen another copy and have never seen it listed in a record pricing guide!! I've since found out that one of those is worth a good bit of money! I had one and gave it away!! (By the way, Abby, I'm single, from the `60's and have over 62,000 records that you can listen to anytime you want! Hint, hint!!)

For the next Q&A, what are your thoughts on Lou Reed. He's one of my favorite artists. He can be so compellingly brilliant but also sometimes a train wreck. His first solo album is often looked down on but I love it. Transformer, Sally Can't Dance, Berlin and Coney Island Baby are some of my favorites. Also Loaded is great and Oh! Sweet Nuthin' is on repeat in my brain.

I also had a question that I would have loved to ask for this video but I missed your post announcing that a Q&A was coming up, so I guess I’ll pose it here! As your channel grows, do you have any plans or ideas for other video series for any of the other days of the week? Like a [blank] Friday or [blank] Wednesday. I feel like here are many things you could still do as a separate series that’s music or vinyl related, like talking about major musical events like famous and/or infamous concerts, etc. or even branching out into a fashion history series. Love the take on Beatles and Stones music, I totally agree. I find the Rolling Stones somewhat polarized people through their taste and music compositions, aside the fact that they were seen as 'untidy' and sometimes too harsh back in the early 60s. Personally though I find this intriguing and entertaining, so it's been great going through their albums again!

I was once on a true rust bucket of a ship with the captain pacing back and forth in the wheelhouse during a heavy storm, singing that song about the Edmond Fitzgerald, in between running to the window and screaming at the bow to "Come up!! Come up!!", every time the bow got submerged in blue water. I guess he thought he was funny or something with the singing. I held a different opinion.

Then Play On-the last album with Peter Green, 'n Kiln House-the first album without Peter Green-are also outstandin'. If you haven't seen it already I highly recommend the When The Levee Breaks video John Paul Jones made 'bout a year ago for Playing For Change featurin' a multitude o' musicians from 'round the world joinin' in for what proves to be a remarkable remake o' this classic track. That was great. A few things: the book club notion/community is a good one (I love reading through the comments as well as chasing up the listening); many thanks for mentioning Wash Day (a new RU-vid day-starter. Love it!) and finally a point of curiosity rather than criticism: you're the second person I've known to pronounce the Joy Division album as Clozer rather than Closser (either one works fine and the closing the door sense makes more sense but usage plus the more eerie ideas of getting closer to that music has its own appeal).

Hey Abigail, just wanted to say your Channel is Awesome!! You know so much about that sweet Ear of Music between 1966/1976 it's so crazy, you have such an Understanding of the Hippie Era, you like myself were Definitely born in the wrong Generation!! I heard you say in one of your Videos you Love Music that sounds like an Acid Freak out. You should check out the Band Lucifer's Friend, the song is Ride The Sky, you would love it!! Also check out May blitz , Smokin The Day Away. Mabey even Wicked Women by Coven or Salem Mass, those are some Great Bands from like 1969/1970, you might really like it. Also a lot of your Records I need in my Record Collection Pronto!!👍

7:48 Thanks for shouting out one of my favorite albums from last year! And while we’re at it, why not check out some more of the Windmill scene bands like *sudden Concorde sonic boom noises* 😏😏😏

Since I live in Vancouver, Canada, the home of Nardwuar, I'll mention your channel the next time I see him. By the way, many of his videos are filmed at Neptoon Records. That's my favourite record store, and I've bought vinyl there for over 40 years!

ALABAMA!! Finally, someone says it, always seem to find myself arguing (politely) how it's the best track on the album... although Out on the Weekend, uuggghhhh, now I'm arguing with myself...

Oh Abbxy Rhoades. Me too. Me too. How did you first start to accumulate an audience? Askin' for a frien. My favorite book is Mark Lewisohn's Beatles Turn On. I've read that very big book every year since it came out whilst waiting with fading hope for volume 2. We're getting old now. My 2nd favorite book is The Real Frank Zappa Book. I guess I should watch your dark side video. Piece out and all my lunch. Amadeus.

Wait until Abby starts to unpack KING GIZZARD AND THE LIZARD WIZZARD. (she probably has already has, considering the multiple Tame Impala references she has made in her videos)

I hope that I'm not being irrelevant but I think that Abby should do Jethro Tull. If she's up to such a hard task.

Thanks for appreciating us. You validate this hobby...err...obsession...this Vinyl thing ! I'm also watching total views, at this moment it's at 668,632. We will also have a celebration at 1Million views ! I think you like the name ABBA, you want to be swedish, so you changed the "A" to "Y" like a good mad scientist...

Interesting Q & A. I was doing a purely imaginary (although an imaginarily loud) "YAY!" inside my head when you mentioned love for Lana Del Rey's work ("Norman Fucking Rockwell!"!!!), but I did a really physically loud "YAY!!" to myself when you mentioned digging John Lee Hooker. It is my one single big regret in my musical journey not having seen him live when I would have had the opportunity to push for it and make it happen. 😢 If you really adore an artist for their art, try to get as close as you can to that art while you still can. If you can afford the cost, do it!
