If I could have only one rifle for hunting and sport shooting even long range - I would dependently take the .308 Win. A lot of ammo in .308 you could find round the world, for sport and hunting in all kind bullet weights and so so on. Even .308 is price wise very interesting. If you don't hunt South African Cape Buffalo or Elephants it is good for all kind of antelope. Even for shooting up to 1000m it works if you know how to calculate the ballistic. But thanks' god, I life in Switzerland and I'm allowed to own as much gun I want to own in all kind of calibers! regards from Switzerland

Well after a lot of thought I would say 308. since it can do everything. But if you are reloading then 6.5 Creedmore.

I do own a lot of different rifles in different calibres, but If I would have to get rid of all my rifles but one it would differently be my Tikka T3x CTR action chambered in .308w I would keep. The 308w has the most abilities to cover the whole spectre of tasks I have at least from my point of view. It can hunt most species with great results. It has a decent performance while long-range shooting. It's relatively cheap to train with. At least where I live.

243 win. Few years back I would have said my 308 Win, but now I basically do everything with my 243 Win.

If it's only one to do all of them... Gosh probably .308 because ammo is relatively cheap and available, many farms only allow 30 caliber to hunt for larger game, 308 can be used for very long range PRS, doesn't kick like a mule to train. (And no, I don't own a 308 but 6.5CM guy here)

300wm for sure, i love my 30-06 but dream set up would be a 300win mag

6.5x55 💪 in Norway its the biggest cal. Aloud on small game and the smallest cal. Aloud on big game. So its the best all-around bullet that we can use. My opinion 🙂

If I had to choose it would be a gunwerks 300 win mag with a vortex 4-25x55 mil for scope

Definitely .308 We do a lot of hunting in the Laeveld and take big animals like eland with the .308 but it also works well in the Cape for some long-range.

A Question for next time. How can you deal with shooter fatigue? This has become a major problem for me in the past year.

Black bears are out of control here in the states. I'm gonna do a black bear hunt in Colorado next fall. Still a Red Stag hunt in New Zealand is my dream hunt.

It would be what I bought. Howa 1500 6.5CM in a mdt oryx chassis. Light enough to carry modular enough for adding bipods etc. And with that the equipment to reload for it.

.308 win for its’ versatility: long 220 grain high BC, and 110 grain soft points for HD, and 150 grain soft points for hunting.

6.5 sherman short would be my go to cartridge. Shooting the 153.5 bergers it's a very versatile option.

Love the content! I just recently got into PRS shooting and I plan on shooting in the next Grind here in the US. I would love to see you there! In my home state of Oklahoma we have a couple companies that make some very nice custom rifle parts. Have you ever heard of impact precision? If so have you ever had the chance to play with one?

BTW... love your content. Maybe a bit of a stretch on your question but your opinion of a 243 Savage. My fathers hunting gun choice... he was born in Montana, visited the cabin with his dad every weekend, bears, deer you name it but that was the gun he preferred. Been quite awhile ago I know... 1940's but even up to 1990's he hunted deer with the Savage. BTW he even carried a 1872 Schofield 45 pistol on his hip.

25-06 with 30 krieger barrel for me... Shot in a 1k steel shoot with it. If I wanna go longer, I'll get my 408 CheyTac. Next year will be 25 creedmoore or 250 blackbird. If you can't tell I like the quarter bore.

If reloading I'd pick 6.5 Creedmoor cause it gives the 30 caliber round but a flatter long range round than 308 but if only factory rounds then 308 would still get it done too

I’m a big fan of the smaller cartridge so if I had only one gun I’d have a Henry lever action 357 magnum. It’s a very odd choice considering there are so many good guns chambered in so many good cartridges but i like it and that’s what counts

N150 in the Dasher should be money, i run it in a 6BRA and i know many others here in Sweden runs it in 6BR, 6BRA and Dasher. ES is ridiculously low and the powder burns cool and are almost insensitive to changes in air temperature witch is a big problem here in where the temperature swing between summer and winter can be 50-70C.

No way I could choose only one, but if I had to probably 308. If I could choose two, lightweight 30-06 for hunting and heavy 6mm for competition. If I could choose 3, add a 223 or 22lr. And fourth would definitely be a 12 ga

One Rifle?... well If hunting was the only application I would go with 300WSM... but a rifle for both hunting and PRS style target shooting would definitely be 308WIN in a Tikka T3x CTR.

If I could only have one caliber I’d choose the 280 AI. I love the 7mms and feel like they are now over looked for the 308 calibers especially here in the states. It would allow me to shoot both 280 ai box ammo and safely shoot 280 rem box while keeping fair accuracy for hunting. On the hand loading side I can work up a load for any species I’ll be chasing, whether that’s a moose or a steel plate. Put a good brake on one and I’ve never had a problem watching my impacts.

The 300 win mag would be my choice honestly. Sure, it might not be the cheapest to shoot but other than that, Magnums in general have more versatility. To me, since there is a lot more offerings in the likes of the .308 projectiles mixed the better extended range performance / lethality of the magnum case while still being able to load it light when the extended range isn't needed gives it the thumbs up in my opinion. I look at it as its like having a 308win, a 30-06spr and a 300win mag all at the same time because I can load it to do exactly the same as any of them....

In the end, for Everything, it would be 308 Win. However, for All round hunting including the big 5, it is really hard to beat .375 H&H, especially in Africa. Finally, my personal favorite is .300WM which due to cost and recoil is marginally second to 308 Win.

right a do everything rifle probably a magnum cartridge a 300prc or a 300 norma mag, 300 win mag something along those lines wont be as good for say shooting 100m but when you want to shoot a mile plus your ready to go. on the other hand in an apocalyspe situation will have to be a Scar in .308win with a nice scope on and on of those canted red dot. will be able to use that for everything

I think we Americans would be interested in how SA gun laws work at lease I would be. For my one cal 6.5 creedmoor. Solid hunter proven prs shooter and works well in a AR platform. Excellent performance with hand loads and great factory options. My 2 cents. BTW great work you do love your content

If I only had to take one bolt action rifle/caliber it would probably be a 308 Win. with the selection of projectiles out there, you could cover all the bases

CZ 527 in 222 ok it's not got the horsepower to compete with the big boys but it's been very cheap and accurate I also shoot Parker hale safari in 3006 an have done ok in competition with it

If I had to limit myself to one rifle to do everything a rifle may be asked to do? I'm going to assume I can't pull the "get an AR-15 and a bunch of different uppers for different applications" trick. I'd probably go with an AR-10 chambered in 6.5 creedmoor. It can do a little bit of everything. Long range (maybe not true precision), home/property defense (a bit overpowered), hunting (not small game if I want anything left over to actually eat).

Gotta go with the 7mm Rem Mag.. Or the 308!

I recently considered buying the 300 WSM as my one and only. I thought the caliber will be good for hunting and long-range work at an affordable reloading rate. A combination of .308 and 6.5 Creedmore qualities, don't you think?
