Maybe I’m just a total weirdo but your mom has such a calming voice! 😂 I feel like that’s a good quality to have as a nurse! I love this video so much because of how knowledgeable she is!
Your mom seems like a sweetheart! She definitely has a very kind and calm demeanor! Look forward to part II! Thanks for letting us in on your moms nursing advice. It’s defintely interesting to hear experienced nurses point of view.
I'm with everyone else here. Your mom and her calming voice! If she's looking for a volunteer activity for her retirement years, my 2 cents = taking calls for a suicide prevention hotline. Seriously.
I loved the q&a! You're mom seems like such a sweetheart! I admire all of her experiences. I'm looking forward to part two. Btw I love chocolate icecream with brownie bits in it. 😋
Thank you for this video. I enjoyed hearing your mom’s diverse nursing experience. I specially love her answer to why she chose nursing over physician ( I like to chat too and that always reminds me why nursing fits my personally). She has the great qualities of an excellent nurse- competent, self aware, great observational skills and a people’s person. Thank you for this very informative video. My favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate.
This was such a great idea! So interesting to hear about your mom's experience being a nurse! Like you Liz, I could never do OR mostly because of the smell of burning flesh (electrocautery).. but there is a place for every nurse and that truly is the beauty of nursing💜
I love mint chocolate chip ice cream! (Even though some say it tastes like toothpaste...) also I spent 6 months in Greensboro NC last year and we loved Maple View Farm in Hillsborough for homemade ice cream!! It might be a bit of a drive but it’s worth it!
We’re family of nurses too! When my sisters and I have dinner together, our husbands are prepared to hear different kinds of stories depending on which unit which sister 😂
This was so great to watch liz..you an ur mom shared so much in life..she's ur teacher also I love this..I'm by far no nurse , iv been in home care my hole like..I'm started life in my own home helping my mom take care of my dad who suffered from bad MS for my first 21 years..now I'm 48 I'm still private caring an iv done so much an have learned more than I think I'd ever learned in school..iv done all nursing skills an worked side by side doctors that home visit these that can't get out...but I kinda feel like iv done this my whole life an it's started with my mom also...love love love yhis..my mom's gone now but I carry her everyday with me..
I loved this. Your mom seems to be such a genuinely sweet and caring person, I think you both chose the absolute perfect careers. Thank you for sharing so much knowledge and experience with us. It's seeing stuff like this that gets me super excited to keep going. And on that note...off to rewrite pharm notes and med cards lol
P.S. Can we ask her more about her time in peri op? It's one of the many specialties that I'm very very interested in. Would love to hear more about what a day would look like
P.S.S Haha! My favorite ice cream flavors are mint chocolate chip (but never the green mint, it has to be the white mint), coffee but only whipped cream and chocolate chip cookie dough
I’m so glad you liked it!! I’ll ask her about the peri op, and see if she has anything to add. We already filled the second half, but maybe next time! Looove coffee ice cream, and I didn’t even know they had white mint chocolate chip 😳. Good luck with your pharm notes!
What a lovely mother daughter interview/ relationship. I was taking classes at community college- to become a nurse, when my mother died. After being in the hospital with her, I stopped the whole process- i was discouraged by things i saw. But, after years passed, I am rethinking it;-)
awww Love your mama she seems like a calm sweet understanding and AMAZING nurse and mom! thanks for sharing your wisdom with all of us, both of you :-) ohhh FAVORITE Ice Cream.....cold and ANYkind its Ice Cream for gosh sake ;-) enjoy
I’m doing an mde program and I’m really scared I won’t know how to do anything without the experience as an RN. But I already have a bachelors and am 26 and time isn’t on my side to get a bsn and I really want to do nursing. Please let me know your advice on this!
I don't think time is against you at all! I would look for a program that allows for you to get your RN (you need this anyway to be an NP) and allows you to work while obtaining your NP. That way you are able to pick up some experience along the way, but its one continuous program!
St. Luke's School of Nursing. It's accredited and hospital based. I know a few friends that graduated from there and speak highly of the program, a lot of clinical experience.
I have huge respect for nurses, but I feel the work hours should never be more than 8 hrs a day. There is a reason labor rules allows eight hours everywhere because one tires physically and mentally and only 12 hours are left for the rest of the day. Atleast eight hours of sleep is required and then one is left only four hours. Cooking, eating food, bathing, exercise. Just imagine where the rest of the time is gone. It's cruel
I have a whole video on this if you want to check it out! I think bsn should be the goal, but depending on your situation/location adn can be a great stepping stone!
@@NurseLiz thank you!!! I recently gotten my high school equivalency!! I am studying for my act. So , I can go on to school for my RN degree! Just wondering , if I should get my ADN first. Or just go for my bsn from the start. Thank you for reply!! I love your videos!! I am from Alabama.
