When i looked up the onestop thing, there was someone who had guessed that a long time ago, Microsoft used it to show off Windows sound capabilities. And perhaps the developers just kinda kept it, sort of as a memory. It makes sense, the file is extremely small, and would have fit on older computers
i hear ya man. i started out loving PC's when i was about 14 years old or so and started making graphics and web sites, eventually went to school for it and had lots of job offers but then after awhile people just wanted more and more. so i got into video editing and am loving every moment of it. you can get jobs without school, but they are a pretty important piece of paper. even if its just paper.

If i want to do what you're doing now (video editing, animation, AE CGI, and creating games), what kind of degree i should get? i know school sucks, but degree seems like the top priority in order to find job. so how do i get started beside reading books and watch your tutorials?

Because besides getting your degree and what not, how and where would you get the resources to quiz/test yourself to know that the material your learning yourself is actually having an impact on future real world "jobs"? my computer is crashed with a blue screen that shows up the code is 0x00000050. i tried safe mode, last good configuration, and everything else and still, blue screen u know how to restore it?
Bucky, i really want to know. I listened to your opinion on college, but sine you do in fact, need a degree to do pretty much anything in this world, would you recommend computer engineering over comp sci? i love computers, and i really enjoy your java vids and such, but i dont want to be a dedicated programmer. So in your opinion which would be the better major?

Also i'm only 15 so if I start watching your tutorials for the next 3 years until i'm 18, will I be as good at programming as you, that I wont need to go to college? CRAP I forgot something, I was supposed to ask you if you could make Microsoft Visual Studio or Visual Basics tutorials, cause my boss at work where I do Graphic & Web Design wants me to program sites in VB through MSV so I will get a ton more work, but yeah it's pretty weird to use, not sure if you're familiar with it. But even after watching your tuts on PHP to declare strings and variables and stuff it made a lot more sense. BTW have a sweet day!

Q: What are some books that you would recommend for someone who wants to learn how to create video games (the main scripting aspect, not modeling or level design or something similar) preferably in C++ or C. Or any other language you recommend.
I don't know how college works int the USA but here in Brazil it its something VERY important... at least if you can get in a very veeeery good one you'll learn WAY MORE than in books and all alone...

dang, I was really, really, wanting an answer to my question. I want to know who or what company can build me a computer around the quadro fx 4700x2 video card. I kinda dont trust Dell anymore since they sold me a nvs 450 to run 4 computers and photoshop and illustrator would barely move. Ok. maybe I can build it. Is College / University really that expensive in America? I am going to a University in Melbourne, Australia and I am only paying ~$2500 per semester, so ~$5000 a year (+ Books etc) which is fairly cheap I feel. $60,000 a year seems extremely pricey.

when people say about college being a waste of time its wrong. You can learn anything from a book but facebook came from peer group fun , he got to know a lot of people, learnt to drink beer etcetc...its the lifestyle your paying for..take it from me iam older and trying to retrainin this crazy programming world..... you need to let employers know you ve done your time...and can do it.. i cant do that its to late and i cant afford to take an intern cos iam playing a real game now..i.e need to pay my mortgage.
