For an RPG without character customizing this guy was perfect. He looks neither high born or low. He could be a tank or he could be stealth assassin. A perfect slate to build on any character your mind can fathom.
@@zhain0 different games have different levels of accuracy in recreating the face. there is always human intervention involved. but that could because of retopo, uv scanning, optimisation. We are all appreciating the job they did with henry.
Watching his facial expressions and ticks are like looking at Henry's face during a dialogue. This is reinforcing the authenticity and believability of the game even more. Also, what a pure man, we stan Tom McKay
The game isn't better by having his facial expressions, that's how it works. The game is what it is but isn't all historically accurate, had tons of issues & is still held back at sorts.
The Cake Cake Cake I mean..i’ll give that it felt like a passion project. I think for me, I still haven’t beat it & it’a a shame because the potential was there just not implemented enough. One of these days I’m sure I’ll return to it.
@@TheFos88 He's like that mate we all have who's funny even if he doesn't try. And it's not like because he is goofy or anything. Just his tone and all, perfect for a character whose voice you'll be hearing for hours upon hours.
Thank you Tom for your kind comments about me! I had the pleasure of working with Tom and directing him. He's a great actor and a genuinely pleasant and hugely charismatic guy, which I think contributed massively to the success of the game. Thanks Tom and thanks Sexy Buscuit for this great interview.
I think I would be a great voice for kcd2! Lmk if you are interested! I'll send all my info to warhorse I can do a young lad to a battle hardened old warrior. I have voice acting done on dragon ball x fan animation and a music career. Just not sure where to apply/audition
@@leesaunders1930 Honestly if Henry walked into my house and started eating from my kitchen pot I’d be very confused why a bohemian knight from 1407 is in my house but it would be cool cuz he’s a hungry feller, and after all, Henry’s come to visit!
Congratulations on a fine interview with Tom. I had the honor to play Capt. Bernard as well as the Inquisitor in a DLC last year. Actually only met Tom once in passing but his insight and answers to your fine interview questions were spot on. Thanks to all for supporting KCD.
@@Krushnerabs Thanks Krushner, 20 My old training as an Infantry Officer in the US Army gave me some frame of reference. . Hoping for a sequel so the good Captain can chew up some new players and re-introduce himself to some of the KCD Vets.
I dont know about that. Large part of the charm of KCD is that you being as a nobody and slowly move up. If KCD2 continues with Henry this part of the experience will be lost. I would rather see him as a NPC or a playabe character in a shorter segment or a DLC.
@@mongrelking5667 nah the game is still enjoyable even after you max everything out. besides they'll probably do something like that in the sequel. maybe your gear and whatnot gets stolen
Rollingo I hate the way the announcer intros Henry he screams everybody else’s and then his tone just drops to dead and he’s like oh yeah and this is henry
@@theArab__ bastards are not nobles bro. They were considered as disgrace for noble family back then. Besides, nobody except Hanush and Radzig know that he is a bastard.
So true. I mean, many games have modelled their characters after real people (and with motion/face capture often)... but Henry is such a carbon copy of the real actor it is almost uncanny to see him outside of the game.
It's not 2000 anymore. You've had roughly 15 or so years to know motion capture is a common thing in video games for a good while now, it's nothing recent.
@@Limacy aww is someone wanting attention and can only get it by trolling? That's cute lol Also yes I'm well aware motion capture is nothing new, but usually it's not such a carbon copy of the real person.
I had a chance to grab a beer with this guy back in Prague. He's such a nice guy and down to earth. Long live Henry! Also really nice interview, Sexy Biscuit, your interaction was really professional and interesting throughout.
Well that was excellent. Good interview, Roxy. Also, hunger confirmed! On a different note, it’s telling the fact he said Warhorse allowed him to do the interview. I mean, we all know the sequel is in development, but the fact that he felt the need to get Warhorse’s permission means he’s still either under contract with them or involved with them to the point where he will be under contract in future. Yet more proof folks.
Yeah that made me think too as if he was talking about KCD 1 and had no other involvement he’d have no need to get permission and could say what ever he wanted!
You said we all know the sequel is in development. How so? I've never seen any mentioning on the channel. It is very probable that I have missed something.
He also said he couldn't answer how the second game was going becuase he is just a voice actor. To me that confirms he is voice acting for it but was being honest that he has no clue about the development.
OMG as a Czech I am so proud of Warhorse studio and also Tom, he did really good job and he is one of the most natural and honest actor I know. ;) So amazing to see that he is completely the same cute silly guy like in the game. :) Good work sir!
This was/is such a great game. I came by this video by chance but was in shock when I saw how well they captured his likeness in the game. Great job by the game developers, writers, and everyone involved. I actually ended up really caring about the character Henry. I can't say that about most games I play. This and Red Dead Redemption 2 were both great from that perspective. Thank you for the video!
@@javitwg7958 holy shit can't you all just shut up if biscuit has a problem with somebody using the wrong pronoun biscuit has hands and can type you know?
Tom is crap with technology? Oddly fitting considering he plays a character in 1403 lol Edit: thank you to Eka Prasetya and Bhaggu S for helping me fix my save file!
Just a maybe...in your save some NPC that crucial with that quest is probably dead...That's why the game said that the quest immediately fail... My advice is to open the said quest in Wiki, look the appropriate NPC, and then check in game...?
You need to question a captured bandit who has the plague , I'm guessing you fail to save and property talk to him causing the failure. Load earliest save of that quest possibly the mission start autosave. Get to merjohed immediately , this will start a side quest 'pestilence' which is intertwined with the main quest. Its timed and can be failed in multiple ways so maybe open a wikia page before you do
Bhaggu S that’s the crazy thing, I got to the part where you report to sir Radzig and now it fails the quest even if I load up a much earlier save and restart the quest
The fact that Henry is based on a real person and using his real voice makes the character seem so authenticly human, so much more believable. This game is SO good I really don't understand how anyone could dislike this game, best Medieval RPG (I consider it an rpg) in the last 10 years in my opinion. Hopefully they make a KCD 2
Hi Roxy! You were brilliant at interviewing! If you had a case of nerves, it certainly did not show. You kept the flow of questioning interesting, you did not interrupt Tom's speaking, you did not do the repetitive, irritating "uh-uh" (the nodding of head, agreeing twitch thing). Well done, our bailiff of Biscuit Town, well done!! Proud of you! 🐈
Totally agree, if the interviewee is answering the questions and giving detail the fact that you let him speak his mind without interrupting was great!
It does blow my mind that this was their first game ! It is at least an AA game, if not AAA. Sure there were some painful bugs for a few months, but many AAA games have bugs for years! Still, the visuals (!!!), the adventure/flow, the immersion (!!), wow!
He's absolutely adorable!!!! You've done an awesome job with this interview. I, too, want to see more of Tom McKay in the games and on the big screen!!!! Warhorse....You Better Call Tom McKay to do the next game!
Imagine the good fortune this guy has. He doesn't know about video games but (blindly?) decides to take a gig at a new gaming company (no history or reputation to draw upon) doing a kickstarter game - and it turns out to be one of those rare games that become a modern classic and winner of many awards. And he's the main guy, the protagonist. Love these stories. It's like when Mark Morgan did a short gig writing the music for a little game callad Fallout, a new franchise not even the developers thought would hit it big (they released another game - now forgotten - at the same time they thought was going to be the blockbuster, while Fallout was more or less a little sideproject.
He's so dreamy! You're lovely as well of course darling Biscuit, but Henry... oh my... swoon. Anyway, WARHORSE give that man a gaming PC for god sake. Poor Tom can't even play the game, can't even see himself half naked in the bath and romping with maidens at the inn. And yes, Henry, his character and how Tom played him absolutely helped the game immensely. I'd love to see him in Macbeth (my favourite) but not on the screen but in the Globe, as its THE best spot to see Shakespeare. A little annoying that he is both handsome and such a nice lovely chap. It makes him even more irresistible.
@@javitwg7958 well he was married 4 times.... one the reasons he build karlstein i guess.... there is even a legend that no woman was alowed in the castle
Holy shit. I had no idea Henry was a real person in mocap. He’s much more handsome irl while still looking so familiar to the game. Also big props to the interviewer for letting him speak. It’s crazy how interviews today often get dominated by the person asking the questions. Thanks you guys for this awesome video!
*Stomach growls* Bloody great video, thanks for doing this! Edit: Maybe you could do a video about english people and their accents, i love to listen to this like "a bao of woa = a bottle of water" - absolutely lovely you people.
Tom, you are an absolute legend. Thanks for giving us your version of Henry, the game would never have been the same without you. Thanks Roxy for organising this too :-)
25:22 and tom has just said [scene continuity] "is all on them" - because he just turned up and said the lines for the DLC. I beg to differ. A lesser actor would not be able to turn those lines in the tone required based on nothing more than notes from a director. Tom is selling himself short here, and i hope he reads this so he sees this lol
Stevepunk there is a video of the actors and most of them look like their characters. I think hanush and the real actor look the same. I just really like bernards voice and he seems like a cool guy. From what I saw from a video of the actors they mostly look like the characters. Would also like to see radzig aswell interviewed because he was very important aswell.
Hey Wacky. Iowa. Thanks for the shout out. It was an honor and pleasure to work for Warhorse in doing the game and to have been able to tutor the players on the finer skills for survival in our Medieval world. I am presently living in Prague as a retired TV News Anchorman from the Disney Company who has been also working as an actor for 30 years as well. Originally from Houston, Texas.. Thank you all for supporting the game. It was a class project working with some wonderful, creative people. ..Bob Boudreaux (Capt. Bernard).
Sexy Biscuit I appreciate you so much for making this possible! I recently came back to the game (again) a few weeks ago and something I wanted to know was to look for Tom McKay behind the scenes and stuff like that. I looked through Warhorse Studio's RU-vid videos and there was not much content to find like that, so YOU doing THIS like 2-3 weeks later was such a pleasant surprise. I thought any stuff like this would be too late after the games release to see. YOU SIR, is amazing and Tom McKay is such a lovely person. This is like all the KCD fan's dream :)
