I'd say the light novel is a must. It connects so many missing pieces that the manga did get to cover and basically has the most important lore in Bleach in it. Also has a backstory for one of the Espada

Nel might be my favorite of the female cast, though that might be more of a personal bias. Since so many other people gave you recommendations for other series: The Boxer. It's a manhwa (its on Webtoon), and it's absolutely incredible.

I feel like you, as a writer, would enjoy the Mushoku Tensei Light Novel. It has such a realistic and diverse lineup of characters that all portray amazing growth throughout the series. It’s about a guy who gets reincarnated and one of the main underlying themes is overcoming trauma. The series has amazing world building that can sometimes deal with uncomfortable moments and very complex emotions, but if you are okay with a mature story like Berserk, then you may like this one. I promise you, it will not disappoint.

the bleach novels are just words only no art, the main 2 everyone talks about are "cant fear your own world" (cfyow) and "spirits are forever with you" (safwy). i haven't read them much but its better to read them after u finish tybw even if safwy takes place before tybw, there is still things u might not understand. from what I've heard they are very interesting showcasing new characters (former captains/kenpachi's, new villains etc) and also go deeper into characters we already know. I've heard the stories through other RU-vidrs (also I should say these novels are not made by kubo but they still fill in many gaps of the manga and add more story to bleach for people wanting more. (I would consider cfyow more cannon like)

As someone who is both reading the manga and watching the anime at the same time, a lot of other content creators have criticized the anime for not just the censorship and filler, but also for some of the other changes it makes to the source material, primarily in the characterization of Orihine specifically. How do you feel that the anime adapts the manga, and where do you feel it falls short of the manga if it does, and where do you think it actually improves on the manga, if it does?

Idk about being in squad 4, unohana seems like a chill person to be in company of but as a nurse one of the forces (being as vague as i can about myself) I can tell you, you have 3 kinds of bosses, the ruthless, the Trainwreck that doesn't do their job and you're waiting to see get fired or taken out of the position and the lax one that you barely see, sinse the 13 squads are their military force i cannot imagine unohana being anything other than the first one with her people (also with what hanataro said, the guy from squad 4 that wanted to save rukia, they have them doing all the things so probably neither is on physical condition to be a part of squad 4 Shunsui's squad seems like a safe bet as Long as you're not a woman with glasses named nanao (i mean... I am also a person who reads and watches stuff I enjoy and I never understand that particular question from people. They (anime and manga) are different mediums. Both have their enjoyable parts. People used to read books and watch the movie adaptations. That is exactly the same thing with reading a manga and watching its anime edit: to clarify: I don't get why people think reading the manga kills the hype one can have to watch anime

Luffy (and gang in most cases) go to island, they make friends with future crewmate, future crewmate sads, future crewmate joins gang - It's silly in my eyes to pin bleach down on such a mute criticism when it applies to almost every story available Edit: Just wanna throw in a disclaimer here - I'm not hating on one piece - I think it's a great story (did prefer early one piece though, pre-whole cake island and kinda fell off the grind with it late in that arc, but I hear wano was great atleast)
