Fascinating video! I have never seen such spectacular cloud formations. Absolutely stunning. Took quite awhile to breakout at 1,000 ft. Nice landing and touchdown in Belfast. I like your on screen narrations which keep the viewer advised as to what is transpiring. Like the Dash 8 also. Best of luck and safe flying!
Phantastic flight, i love this cloud surfing very much. The touchdown in Belfast was as smoose as silk, awesome. Please more, videos like this, maybe a little more cockpit work?
Really enjoyed this. Cloud formations/surfing was epic. Quick question as a layman, those things that look like windscreen wipers, how do they not snap off at cruising speed (must be 350+mph equiv?)
Hey Solan, thanks for the question. Those are indeed, wipers! They stay attached thanks to the strong spring but to be honest, they don't do much hehe. Max cruising airspeed is between 240-280 KTS so even though we might be traveling at a groundspeed of nearly 350 KTS if we have a great tailwind, airspeed is still quite low! good one!
Excuse me if my question is a dumb one but what is the reason you check for ice? what damage can it do? and if there is ice, what do you do? lovely video, as someone who is scared of flying, i take a little comfort from this video
RadioRetroGames ! No such thing as a dumb question. There are many reasons we check for ice. Without going into great detail, Ice adds weight to the aircraft and affects lift, so with ice on the airframe we would have to fly a little faster to compensate. Ice is normally disposed of by heating the surface or by inflating the 'boots' the black strips you see in front of the wing and other areas also.
funkydrumming Wow, thankyou. I never realised there were so many factors to consider. You guys and gals do a great job. im actually afraid of flying but i do it because its the only way to get to destinations quickly, i think its the fact im not in control and i cant see whats going on in front of me.
Not to worry. I actually know Sal personally (Sal, I still can't do Monday :-p ). I hope he doesn't mind me answering your question. If it makes you feel at ease, we are in the sim every 6 months being assessed on different failures and scenarios. Some airlines do fear of flying courses, some people say it worked for them. My mum used to be scared until I took her to an air show and she saw what aircraft are capable of, she doesn't even think about it now. All the best
funkydrumming Thankyou. i suppose its not the pilots i dont have faith in, its more of something on the aircraft failing....its just silly really cos im sure they are well serviced, probably more so than my own car.
RadioRetroGames ! Most aircraft have multiple back ups of its systems and flight controls. So if you loose one you still have the other(s). Hope that makes you feel more at ease?!
Hey Reggie, thanks for your comment. I actually went to SOU recently and landed onto runway 20, and actually recorded it for you ;) Do you prefer me to upload it here or u prefer me to send it to you in any other way?

Great video Sir, it's funny to see you refer to (FL) Flight Levels as low as you do. Here in the US ( and some other countries) the TA is 18,000'. But I know in Europe TA's can go as low as 3,000' right? I'm a pilot as well and for years my email address has been Fltlevelzero.... and I have always thought that was funny. Only pilots will get that I guess. Anyway, great video and even better flying. Keep em coming. Captain Michael
