Dealer wanted $462 for rear brake pad replacement, with rotor resurfacing. I am still offended considering how "cheap" replacements are and just how "easy" this is to do yourself!! Thanks man for the video.

yes using the rod to depress the pedal is super helpful as it closes the system off. If you are quick enough you can minimize the mess however. Looking good man.

Hey SC!! I followed your install for the BBK, and everything was great until I had to mount up the rear calipers. Seems like the oem bolts are a bit too big. They begin to thread but stop about 1/4 of the way in. I remember you said you can use the same hardware, and I even went to the Infiniti dealership to check if there's a different size bolt, but they said both the sport model and the Luxe Base use the same caliper mounting bolts. I am returning the rear calipers to Amazon. The fronts have no problem threading with the oem bolts.. So I'm guessing these rear calipers where threaded incorrectly... Have you heard of anyone else with this issue? Thanks!!

Question, I have q50 3.7L 2014, and I want to keep my 2 piston non-sport calipers. But will the caliper still mount to assembly if I get these rotors? I noticed the rotors are significantly larger than the OEM ones and I'm just afraid of buying them.. cutting the dust shield.. and the calipers wont reach the two 7/8 (19mm i believe?) bolts that hold the calipers in place. If that's the case, then I'm going to have to go with OEM rotors as well till i save up for a big change

Although I did not see you change the wheel studs would you recommend with this non-sport to sport upgrade?
@SpeedCultureStudios
@SpeedCultureStudios 3 года назад
No. There are no difference in the wheel studs, so there would be no reason to change them. The difference between the non-sport and sport braking setup is caliper and rotor only. Now, if your wheels do not clear the larger calipers and you need to run wheel spacers more than 10-12mm, you will need longer studs.

I often wonder why so many people go with drilled and slotted rotors. They're noisy and not as durable as regular rotors. In regular daily driving situations, you shouldn't be getting your brakes so hot as to warrant the drilled rotors, and if you are, you probably need to stop riding the brakes so much, or you have a bad caliper and it's sticking. I have said rotors on my Q50, and they're junk! I absolutely HATE them, but they were already on the car when I bought it, and I've not had the chance to replace them yet. Whatever, to each their own, I guess. Good luck with all your endeavors.
@SpeedCultureStudios
@SpeedCultureStudios 4 месяца назад
Some drilled and slotted are noisy. These were not. But performance pads often cause the noise much more than the rotors. If a little noise from performance brakes bothers you, just keep your car stock. My c6 corvette came with drilled rotors from the factory. GM thought they were a good idea on a performance car. It’s also not only about heat dissipation. It’s about moving gases and brake dust away from the space between the rotor and pad which can severely hinder braking performance under strenuous driving scenarios. The factory sport rotors are known for poor quality and tendency to warp. These are a better option than the factory rotor. Whatever, to each their own, I guess.

Are these OEM Akebono brake calipers or remanufactured aftermarket calipers?
@SpeedCultureStudios
@SpeedCultureStudios 3 года назад
It hasn't been made very clear. They are often said to be remanufactured Akebono with markings removed, so not aftermarket.
