Your flight reviews are so refreshingly real and genuine. Doesn't feel staged or exaggerated, no pretence, just feels like I'm listening to a mate at the pub talking about his recent holiday.
I love that story at the end about how you first got upgraded to a 1st class suite and how your mum encouraged you to take it even though there was not one available for her. Such a nice mum thing to do.
@afifaloutfie1888 because he was only flying Business Class, albeit in a First Class seat that was zoned as Business Class. QF don't offer an F cabin SYD-HKG.
Yeah, idk. I cut out like the 10 minute conversation I had with her about it, she was adamant it was a policy thing? When I quickly googled it seemed like she was right but it does kind of make the whole one world thing a bit irrelevant.
While the airline offers check-through luggage for final destinations, it seemed your check in agent was new ( or lazy) and wasn't familiar with the process. More seasoned staff typically handle these situations smoothly. But hey, no worries! Great job on this video
Thanks for the great review! Got a chance to fly First Class on QF1 SYD to SIN (lucky upgrade from QF291 business), I have to say this suite MUST pair with its own mattress and duvet, they are on the absolute next level, most comfy bed ever on a filght, simply phenomenal.
I was lucky enough to fly Qantas First Class the other week LAX-MEL. I very much share the same sentiment about the seat itself, like the weird location for charging port, lack of storage, but a great physical seat. Great review and looking forward to many more.
I love your vlogs and comments, you're funny and very realistic. I always have the impostor syndrome whenever I get upgraded to business using my reward points. Once the meal selection I wanted was out and I was thinking....yep they know. They definitely know. But then when I actually paid for a business class seat, I felt the same lol
Nice review! Would love to try this one day. You should have used a meme of the locked gates between classes in James Cameron’s Titanic when you encountered that little gate on the rear stairs. 🤣
I had no idea this was possible on this route it’s lucky I haven’t booked my flights yet for my trip to Hong Kong this summer I’ll make sure to choose the a380 and try to nab a first seat thanks for the great video ❤
These First seats date back to 2000 when the aircraft was new and have only had a slight cosmetic reburb since. Not bad for a 24 year old seat and certainly ground breaking when new. The Business Class seats upstairs were first seen in 2014 on the A330s and slowly introduced to the A380 from 2019. That’s why you have a disparity of storage, equipment and privacy levels. You’re comparing a product from 2000 with one from 2014.
When I fly Qantas Business Class, I choose the window positioned seat. I agree that the window positioned seats have better privacy. Which is great when you are trying to sleep on flights between Sydney & DFW. Do First Class seats not have the sash belt like in Business? Your issue with checking your bags through to Taipei on Cathay Pacific may have something to do with Cathay & China’s policy that Taiwan is China, not a separate nation. Just a theory. If you were flying code share QF on Cathay to other locations, you probably could have checked through… Taipei seems to be off the ‘available’ list.
It’s a pretty poor policy which most OneWorld carriers stick to, about the through check of luggage when on separate tickets . You would think OneWorld to OneWorld no problem, it’s not that it can’t be done , it’s that they won’t . I think there are some examples of even separate tickets with the SAME OneWorld carrier & still they won’t do it. Utterly ridiculous and really poor customer experience . One of the worst things with OneWorld. Had that experience myself first hand with BA.
A “this is a first class seat but a business class ticket” count would have been fun. I really enjoyed the “Cathay count” on a recent video. It’s kind of like “team dadelus” in space cowboys 🤣 Great content. Keep it up
@@FlightFormula Just arrived back in Dubai after my first ever visit to Sydney. Lovely city. Let me know when you're planning to try the EK A380 to DXB.
Another really impressive review. When I managed to select this seat on 2 different trips from HKG the mattress topper was the proper first class one so I wonder if they only provide it on the red-eye out of HKG? I'm pretty sure the tablecloths they use are the same they just use 2 of them for the FC table (love a ridiculous first class 'problem'). The clip at the end about your upgrade with your mom was adorable. Did the crew let your mom come up to share a meal on that trip? That's both surprising and impressive if so, Qantas are normally very strict with letting another passenger into a cabin above the one they are ticketed for. The SYD-HKG FC seat trick has to be the best use of a business class ticket, and a perk not too many people know about even after all these years given you said 4 seats went out empty. The upper deck lounge looks great, all my a380 flights were on the older config, look forward to checking the upgraded one out sometime soon.
Ooh, that beef filet! I've only ever been on an A380 via a Qantas plane, and it was the "Go Wallabies" one, back when it did the (at that time) longest flight in the world, SYD-DFW. I need to film one for my channel ASAP! Hehehe
Great review. Actually liked the older upstairs lounge. Was only the one bigger side but had a big TV.. you could plugin your headset and watch a normal movie on the big TV.
She was being difficult. All you needed to say was you booked both tickets through Qantas using points and the magic happens. Sometimes I have to politely ask for the check in manager to make it happen
