Cool vid - Just to tidy up one detail - the 717 operation isn’t really “Qantas” at all. It’s actually National Jet Systems which operates under the QantasLink brand. This airline is a subsidiary in the overall Qantas Group.
Another good trip report bud!.....Older aircraft always have a nostalgic feel.....not gonna lie, looking forward to Qf replacing its aging domestic fleet....the 737s need to go!
Hi there thanks for commenting and for your feedback. This is the kind of feedback I love to read! I agree that QFs aging fleet is in need of a refreshing change and it’ll be nice to see them give their domestic routes some overhauling for a change! Thanks for your ongoing support!
7:25 Fun Fact: I can't say for sure if Australian authorities, or anyone other than the FAA require it, but here in the US ash trays are mandatory equipment in aircraft lavatories even though smoking is banned on all aircraft. The reason for this is that all though you are not supposed to be smoking the most likely spot for someone intent on doing so anyway is in the lavatory. Therefore, safety regulators would rather the rule breakers to have a safe place to dispose of their cigarette butts instead of trying to put them in the trash and maybe starting a fire in the trash bin. That same scenario is suspected to be the cause of the crash of Varig Flight 820 in Paris in the early 70s. I think the regulation came about because of that specific incident.
