Bears had a pretty solid offense too rex wasn't great but he wasn't horrible but if it wasn't for Kyle Orton stepping up when rexy went down late in the year we wouldn't have made it to the superbowl, the mistake was not playing Orton in the superbowl. Rex started out decent but when it started pouring and he couldn't hang onto a ball should have switched it up that costed us a solid chance.

to be fair, he threw for what was at the time the 2nd most passing yards ever in a season for the bears and the 3rd most TDs in a season for the bears. He threw lots of picks but that wasn't that uncommon back then. Big Ben threw 23 int that season and kitna had 22, both more that Rex. And the next season Kitna, Elie, and Carson Palmer all threw 20 int. The year before Farve threw 29 int. It was pretty standard for most of NFL history up until the last 15 years or so for even elite QBs to throw picks like crazy.
@michaelschaefer1904

Not really. The Bears had the 2nd most improved offense that year with Grossman being the only significant change. The Saints were first with a new QB named Brees and new coach.

stabler's game vs tampa bay: both qb combine for 218 yards passing (and that's before subtracting yards for sacks, btw, not after), the 7 int's both combine for went for 214 yards (1 td actually thrown by the qb's, 2 int's returned for td's). 91 yards lost via sacks, so a net of 127 yards passing, then all the yards lost via int's, and yet..... they actually covered the spread (was 42) and did it within 3 quarters, no less (neither team scored in the 4th).

As soon as I saw Rex Grossman and Cardinals... "THE BEARS ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE! AND WE LET THEM OFF THE HOOK! IF YOU WANNA CROWN THEM, THEN CROWN THEM!" Legendary. RIP Coach Dennis Green.

I remember that Grossman game well. First year I was seriously into fantasy football. Guy had Grossman and a 3 point lead and I had noone. Came back the next morning and I had won by 3.

The bears are my team. They have suffered a lot these years. It’s tough being a bears fan. I saw them win the super bowl in 86. Walter Payton was my childhood hero. I don’t care what their record is, they are my team. I just wish they wouldn’t wear those god awful orange uniforms. Whatever. It’s all just entertainment.

The Bears-Cardinals "They are who we thought they we were" game shouldn't be on the list. At least Rex Grossman had over 10 yards a completion. I can think of another game where he was a lot worse. It came against the Vikings later that season where he went six of 19 for 34 yards with three interceptions and a rating of 1.3. Bears won that game, 23-13.

Genuinely shocked Tim Tebow isn't on here. Especially when he also, just like Mac Jones, won a game completing 2 passes.

Maybe because 1 of the 2 passes was a TD, with more yards than all the 3 passes of Mac😂

I was going to mention a Bills-Dolphins game from 1989 where Frank Reich, starting for an injured Jim Kelly, only went 6 of 9 passing. But he had 123 yards and a TD pass. The Bills had 280 yards rushing, with Thurman Thomas getting 148 and Larry Kinnebrew with 121.

I remember that Bears-Cardinals game and Arizona still lost because of the Bidwill family curse which still lingers on...75 years and counting! 😥🏈
