Thank you very much for your continued coverage of these devices. I've been introducing them to my team and they like the concept. We use it like a bridge to HAM radio. It parallels CB radio in its simplicity, while allowing the teaching of radio etiquette, situational uses and so on. Keep the videos coming sir. 73
Nice little network radio. It's hard to track down under that name on ebay but if you do a search for the "Uniwa F50" you will find it is exactly the same product under a different name. Seems to cost around £140.
Nice radio! i just ordered a similar one to the radio in the video: a UNIWA B8000, with the same specs, but with Android 8.1 --- used my phone so far, but wanted Zello on another unit, and also a spare phone, txh for review, 73, Levi in Sweden
Hi which network radio would you recommend for security use, we just started a voluntey security initiative for community events etc, we're usually at multiple sites at the same time so 4G LTE network radio is a must. So far we have trialed some Entel DN495 poc radios which worked beautifully but they are very expensive, well worth it but just beyond our budget as we are a non profit organisation. So I was wondering what would be a good reliable alternative to the Entels.
as long as your smartphones have internet access and you have zello, no need to buy expensive network radio. as you have said, you are all volunteers, this info I think will help in terms of budget.
Used to post under Dark Shadow, I use Grey now. Not important, didn't want you to think I jumped ship though ;-) Currently still using my 7S+. Which is still great after drops and heavy rain. So I recommend Qingoo as a decent manufacturer. I like the look of this one, and it's good to see a mic port Which the 7S lacks. I had thought of buying a BT PTT but decided to get a new phone for the road and keep the 7S for home base. I have purchased an Alps W5. Yes it's still 3G, but it has the mic port, it also has 2W UHF radio, which I still use. A few notes: the 7S is 4G, BUT it does not work in the US, so I am stuck on 3G. I would assume this probably is the same Only Zello phones I have seen for 4G in US so far are the Inrico T320 and the TM-7. I have discovered that most of these devices use the Motorola M4 mic port. Which is their most common configuration, and used in some of their most popular radios like the HT750 and the GP328. You CAN map the SOS button to be useful in Zello. What I did with mine on the 7S+ was to program it as "Toggle" and set it's default user to my home base. In the event of an emergency I can hit the SOS button, and it will continuously broadcast until I press it again, no need to hold it to talk. That way my operations desk can hear what's going on and send the appropriate help. I don't use ZelloWork right now (but planning on it in future), but if I did it would also keep a GPS track. (I believe in regular Zello, you have to manually send location) Network Radios really are making a difference, at least in the professional world. Still waiting on my W5, it's 5 days overdue. It actually came within 1 week from China which is a world record for me. But OUR post seems to have lost it.
@@RingwayManchester Still enjoying your videos, and the quality is just great! I have to make a minor correction as to the mic jack "standard." Today I received my W5 and went to use the M4 mic I have on my GT3WP and it is way too big. I happened to have a Radioddity mic for a GD55 and that fits the W5 perfectly. As it turns out, that uses an M5 connector (as opposed to M4 listed on the website), as does the HD1, and several Retevis WP radios. This is from the GP328 Plus radio. If it's one thing I don't want to do is give out bad info and have someone order a part wait a month to get it from China and have it be wrong! I found a very handy chart which might prove invaluable as I progress in the HT hobby: www.tapaulkcommunications.com/connectorchart.html
One more bit of info: From the hook to the bottom : M4 (GP328) = 58mm M5 (GP328Plus) = 42mm Sorry if I caused any confusion. By now I should know to take things I read on Chinese websites with a grain of salt.
I have purchased the Uniwa F50, which looks exactly the same as this. I can confirm that the Ailunce Speaker Mic does not work with my F50, it PTTs the F50 but no audio out. The Speaker Mic does however work with my Ailunce DMR handheld.
Thanks for pointing that out. Damn Chineseb radio they copycats each other to every bit and piece. Do you have any other issues with Uniwa F50? I really looking forward to buy that Uniwa until i saw this and made me wonder which one is the real copycat
Hi, i'm curious about a comparison about the Qingoo P3, Qingoo 7S, Radio Tone RT4 and say, Inrico T320. Which of these you think is the best, scoring battery lasting, audio quality and android usability (speed and responsive)?? I would use this phone for daily use, so the normal android performance is also important. 73s de CX1DR
Thanks Lewis, nice form factor radio, also a plus been 4G. I thought it was rude for a ham to jump in and call someone in the middle of a qso. Where can I buy it?
Hello. I want to ask you about a phone ksun tQ6 . I find it in aliexpress and want to buy it. But there's no detailled specification of device. Can you tell me if this ksun tQ6 have a wifi hotspot? So can share the 4G data by wifi or no? Thank you
At 7.15 it sounded like you said thats a boner :-) I know you like these radios Lewis ;-) super job on the video, I will have to get my ass in to gear and nag one of the vendors to send me one although the last time I used Zello it was 100% potty mouth time not very family friendly :-)
I have this phone I bought it 1 month ago I bought it specifically for zello to use with a headphone the phone itsself is decent It runs on android and has the playstore installed after 1 month i can say the battery life will last you an 8 hour shift. On the downside the clip for this phone is really cheap plastic and it doesnt swivel the other down side to this phone is the earphone connector port its some cheap port that i dont recommend so if you plan on using this phone with the earphone plugged in dont.
Thanks! I got this one today. Works great but the speaker mic I have is so quiet. Then all of a sudden I get a sound like someone is SCREAMING through the speaker mic and I need to unplug it lol.
Interesting never herd of this sort of radio, does zello app work on normal phones and i think you should have tested it with the built in mic to note the difference as most people would use that, anyway video well explained thanks
@@shockadellick its better to have your Zello on a separat unit, so you can have your phone to what you normally use it for, mind, you can make phonecalls on a unit like this, so you can have it as a spare/second phone! - anyway, thats how i use them, greets, Levi
When I hit the ptt button on zello I get a verbal error that says This machine has no account it talks over me but I can still use zello how can I stop that message from being said or why is this happening
There is no buy option on the Qingoo website for the device you showcased. Can you tell me and the rest of those interested how can we go about picking one of these bad boys up? Thx in advance!
Why always show this radios with wifi only? show them with network data, that is the real deal. I am stock with a damm radio KSUN ZL10, this sht won`t work with sim card, I tried, TMOBILE, ATT, METRO PEACE OF SHT, SPRINT, VERIZON, none of them work, it shows E for about 5 seconds then goes away, not even 3G. And I can see the technology used are old android hardware phones supporting android 3, 4 and better ones, android 5. That is a great idea, using zello like "HAM RADIO" feeling, but these android based hardware, communications company are shutting down the platform for 2G and now in this month March and April 2022 3G is shutting down as well.
And remember this relies on the internet....Electricity, severs, etc,...Fm will work no matter what as long as you have a battery charge your good with fm..
Nice but rather them look more like radios with a longer antenna, that is what I like about my radio tone rt4, it looks like a Motorola from a distance.
max things I prefer as it’s walkie talkie shape with large ptt button. Obviously can do same with my iPhone but the iPhone isn’t so robust when out rambling and cycling. It depends whether you think it’s worth paying £100 for the advantages I’ve said. Personally I do but you might think a heavy duty case for a smartphone would be better
