Is Tanabata popular in Japan? I have heard of it from Japanese television many years ago. I have seen the old man more frequently around Chinatown these few weeks, always walking around with his pet birds, very cute! Thank you and your wife for joining me on this walk!
@@VicariousWalker Yes. Tanabata Festival is celebrated in Japan on July 7th. People tie strips of paper with their wishes written on them (called Tanzaku )to bamboo branches. The decorated bamboo is then placed in gardens or at the entrance of buildings, similar to a Christmas tree, for enjoyment.🎋 The 7th is the actual day of the festival, and the decorations are enjoyed for several days leading up to it. We like your also curiosity!👏✨By the way, We have heard that the origin is said to have been transmitted from China to Japan in the 8th century.
@@Factory-qq2wk That is very fascinating! I hope to visit and see the festivals in Japan in the future! Thank you for your sharing 😆 I think many countries in Asia have similar customs due to cultural exchange over so many centuries. But every country grows and make each tradition/custom unique to their own country/culture, therefore it is a beautiful thing and I believe that is just natural development of human history 😁
