its been a bit, huh?

well for those of you who listened to me and are reading the description: here's a bit of an update on how things are going:
the next video i had planned was going to be NEVER FORGETTING (and then SKATING TOWARDS HEAVEN)
the remixes themselves are practically done, but the videos themselves were taking a while to edit, but i felt pretty confident i could get them done by the 8th UT anniversary
BUT the Joker turned out to be a horrible person
it kinda killed my motivation to work on them anymore haha
(it feels weird to scrap them since i've put so much work into them, but it also feels weird to continue to work on them, if you know what i mean?)
i thought i'd leave it to you guys to decide if I upload/archive/scrap them, ill put up a poll later this week to decide that (so keep a look out)
anyways, i thought to just skip those for now and move onto the next!

so what's next?
turns out i am being REALLY ambitious about a certain 90s educational toy...
and taking into account that i started work on it really close to the anniversary... i couldn't get it done in time
so i thought'd i do a little QnA since i get a lot of questions in my comments haha
so just ask anything ill answer anything (mostly)
also also, im doing some changes here and there, so if you see my pfp/banner/description change a lot, thats why
so yeah, thats where things are now, thanks for reading my little rant
and THANK YOU for 3 YEARS of making music!

i use Fl Studio! it took a while to get used to, since i used LMMS before that for a long time. but i think what really got me good at it came from inspiration! i look up to a lot of different artists and i like to try and see what techniques they use. i also used tutorials for the more technical side of things (like automation, hotkeys, etc.). but once i started settling with a "style" i was beginning to enjoy, i kept trying to build off of that! i think what really helped me out was time. i was experimenting a lot, trying to step outside my comfort zone and such, which is something i'm STILL doing to this day! i helps me figure out what i'm really good at, and what i'm not

thank ya!! honestly i'm HYPED; i love that we're getting it sooner (i also liked reading all the deltarune dev stuff, really insightful!) favorite deltarune theory? flowey secret boss for chapter 3 and the vessel being the knight (there's this really cool theory i saw on twitter where it also involves meta concepts in undertale, like how the dark fountains are a big way to "keep the game going", tying into a lot of themes around chara and the speech at the end of the genocide route)

As for a question though, how do you decide what sounds/instruments you want to use in your tracks? Do you decide beforehand or start with something and go from there?

its a lot of trial and error actually! i usually jump into a song with a decent idea of how i want the "theme" to be, and based on that i pick a handful of sytrus presets to kinda fit it. from there, i mess with it a LOT to get what i want (this part usually takes a while!)

Couple of questions for the QnA; 1. How much of any one of your visualizers is made in a visualizer program versus how much is made in an external editing software? 2. If you do use a visualizer program, do you know of any neat tricks that others might not know about?

i sometimes use zgameeditor visualizer within fl studio, but most of my stuff is made in davinci resolve - i use a custom plugin from a library called "reactor" --- a little trick i use is to make another version of the song but cut out some bits to make the visualizer more coherent (so it doesn't look like a blob most of the time)

i'd say a big factor is time, im always aiming to try and improve myself and my work, so through lots of trial and error, i think i've found myself in a pretty decent position as of now. i also look up to other artists' works as well, but not in a like "im comparing my work to theirs" kinda way, but a more "inspiration" kinda way, its moreso seeing techniques used by others that helped me open doors to more advanced things, whether or not it worked out (it can be easy to feel "lost" on how to improve something, so doing this kinda acted like a "guide" for me). like i've tried and failed in multiple genres/techniques but in experimenting and trying things out i think i've managed to find my own style. but even to this day, i still want to get better!

pizza all the way editing! i feel like im kinda repeating myself in the replies here, so i'll give you a different angle: i started editing before i began making music, i did stuff for school projects and such, but it was nothing advanced. but i've always been fascinated with music, especially with video games, this mainly came about when undertale came out in 2015. so something thats always stuck with me is that "visuals can enhance a song". so when i started making music during the pandemic, i wanted to do what i've seen so much growing up! of course, there was lots of trial and error, and it eventually came into full fruition when i made my BATW remix. so i'd say a massive factor in my editing improvement is time! experimenting and trying new things to try and fit this "goal" i had in the back of my head about the relationship between music and visuals

Tbh i was waiting on your next upload to suggest Never Forgetting as a remix idea since i really loved the idea of fakeris LOL- But yeah id still love to see it in your style but if you dont feel like working on it due to thejoker thats also completely fine as for questions (despite being VERY late) do you have any particular way of finding the videos you sample / use in remixs? or do you just think of a bunch of things that kinda relate to the character and go from there? haha yeah... its pretty much like you said: most visual elements are inspired by the source material's theme/vibe/characteristics it has - like for YOUR LAST GIFT, screepto is a bee (so i looked for bee themed media), screepto's VA used a very pronounced lisp which immediately reminded me of king candy, etc.

I have a lot of questions about the video background you use for most of your videos, how did you even make something like that? It’s jammed packed with so many things going on and looks rather painful to create.

its a good amount of work, but its actually a lot of heavily distorted video and/or assets i make using a LOT of color compositing to make it flashy - like the background for my MEGALOVANIA video is an amalgamation of the sans fight itself, the final corridor, a picture of a skeleton, an earthbound battle graphic, and a custom kaleidoscope i made

glad to be (somewhat) apart of the campaign haha as for time? i'd say this definitely fluctuates between videos, but overall i spend more time remixing - like usually i come up with SO many wips of the same song that it eats most of the production time (like recently, my OFFICIAL WAY arrangement has 17 versions on my computer), and even during the editing i usually go back and tweak a lot of the remix to fit what the visuals are gonna be!

i've always loved it when songs/remixes included little bits of animation or visuals, i think it really helps enhance the music! so with this mentality, i wanted to make my videos a bit more interesting! but this process took a lot of trial and error to figure out what truly made my stuff pop. my BIG SHOT remix was really when it started to take its true form, with the text animations and such, but apparently that wasnt enough for me! as my remix style got crazier, i thought the visuals should match too haha

i usually utilize the source material as a guide, whatever theme/vibe/characteristics it has is usually where i pull from, then i go from there to things that are related to it - another thing is the colors i like to use: again, based off like the original color scheme or themes the source material gives off

its all done in davinci resolve using a lot of color/clip compositing and keyframing, sometimes i use a different program for like a specific asset i want (like an eq visualizer from fl for instance)
