After whistle podu, the screenplay could have been a bit tighter by skipping the other 2 songs. matta was a theatrical moment so that's definitely fine. So, had it been 2 hrs to 2 hrs 15 mins, it would have been enjoyed by the masses!

I'm a malaysian indian here. Actually i kinda disgree with the fact that "nobody" wants to see smtg different performed by big stars or any actor, tbh majority of my friends who are fans of particular stars in indian cinema do actually support both unique and commercial films. Im kinda lucky to have that kinda friend group, but ofc i cant expect the same for everyone out there based on my experience. However, I just wanna clarify that there are many younger audience who do wanna see smtg unique and different from actors and we will support those kinda films. I am not a fool to expect too much in commercial movies , especially Vijay movies,,, So thats why I went on with 0 expectation, And The film worked for me👍 Actually, i had an exam during that day,, I went on to watch the movie with my friends after the exam, I didnt had any preconcieved thoughts regarding the movie when i stepped in the theatre, I really had an entertaining and relaxing watch.. I just wanted that, So, why should i care about the logic, over criticisms ,,, The only thing that i felt could have been better was the VFX in the climax,,,

Thuppakki would be considered below avg had it released today with the amount of criticism, decoding the trailer, with everyone creating their own story

I believe this movie underwent rescripting - considering VP style of storytelling. The clone fits closer to that style. Perhaps it was too close to Gemini Man? Also the initial poster of this movie was the Ilaya Thalapathy and Thalapathy fist pumping wearing Flight Overralls and a plane in the background. This itself gave insight into a very different story than the one we saw as there was not a single scene in the movie that lent to that.

Personally GOAT was a cracker of a film especially because of Jeevan's character, worked a lot for me. Moreover GOAT is a cinematic farewell and tribute to the legacy of Vijay. Take the intro for example you have Gandhi's character revealed through Captain mirroring Vijay's own beginnings as an actor and then removes the mask to become the 'Thalapathy'. Plus post the title card you have a classic Apocalypse Now, Tears of the Sun esque shot- thats the VP touch! Got a bit emotional while seeing the bloopers as well 😅

PS1 & 2 had so many flaws with respect to making but conveniently gets ignored. A commercial cinema should be seen as one & reviwed from that POV. @BR, I agreed with you on how songs should be treated. I'll go one step further, keep the song but less than a min that will make the Audience to be in a place where they are wanting it more, it also won't let them off the hook from the main plot. Because of the short attention span, you need to start make, 1 or 2 mins songs going forward.

I still believe in ventatprabhu 's screenplay knowledge.. He did not believe in songs alone in his previous films.. Right placement or there is even very minimal songs in his previous movies.... I thought the way they promote the movie is the main spoiler....coz everybody know that geevan didn't die in the accident coz there are some trailer short and poster of both Vijay in a single frame and promotions were like father-son..... And the second child was a girl. So ofc she won't be Vijay...so in theatre everyone knows that geevan is not dead.....if they promoted in a different way It would be good twist i guess........for mohan character it could have done better and there's a scope for that coz he the only villain lit won...he made his son more evil and finally he made gandhi kill his won son, gandhi gonna be in a guild for life tym. VFX is not good because we need more skilled VFX artists who have learned VFX professionally by doing an MFA. Most people in the industry come from different backgrounds and have a passion for working in VFX, which takes time to learn the foundations. However, the time and budget allocated to achieve the director's vision are insufficient.

Metro train scene is the only elevation that was inside the movie where the whole theatre erupted and all the rest of the scenes were merely forced into for elevating but failed. There should have been a few more such scenes instead of the "references/cameos" chaos..

Finally watched the movie yesterday and completely disappointed with VP. Can't believe a director who have water tight scripts like maanadu and mangatha had given this mess. Vijay deserved better for his penultimate movie as well.

As a cinema fan who wants to see proper story without these forced cameo gimmicks and references, I think it's time for me to stop going to theatres for watching these big budget hero movies...I'm not getting the fulfillment I got in the past from watching these stars' older movies like ghilli, thuppaki, sivaji etc...these insta reels kind of movies are affecting my experience and I'm always returning disappointed. It feels like a waste of time..but that's just me..I think moving forward I should just watch low budget movies alone in theatres.
