Once the chip set is replaced is this particular unit still vulnerable to this problem or is the replacement part better?

Hi, can you share a good BIOS dump for this board? Mine has good PCH but looks like the BIOS is dead, couldn't find one on the qnap site...

I don't think you buy license for the dongle, you buy it for software.

Wonder if this could be a similar issue with my Synology DS2413+ that refused to turn back on. It had been runing for years, but shut it down to replace some hhds and it never booted again. Unfortunately the shipping cost of such a big item would cost around 60€ from Norway, so probably not worth it. Wish I knew of someone doing this locally.

From what I have seen some of the Synology NASs have BIOS chip corruption issues. Might be worth trying to reflash the BIOS chip.

What do you charge for this repair? Just replaced a PSU on one of these but it still fails to boot. This repair is way too technical for me.

Will the new chip perhaps get bricked as well due to a QNAP board design mistake or will the fix be permanent due to better parts?

Currently there has not been a single complaint from a customer after we have carried out a repair on the chipset . But it may happen again, so we give 6 months warranty for every repair and the parts used in it

@@KrisFixGermanyAwesome. Thank you. Do you know whats causing the chipset to fail? Is it a part failure and the new chipsets have a design update or is the routing/voltages on the board itself causing stress on the chipset so it will fail over time?
