"I Want to Know What Love Is" is a power ballad by the British-American rock band Foreigner. It was released in November 1984 as the lead single from their fifth album, Agent Provocateur. Besides Tina Arena and Winona Judd, Mariah Carey covered the song in 2009. Gabriel's version is based on the Mariah Carey version, but with an (almost) scream somewhere in the song (which Mariah did not do) Gabriel clearly honors the original from the band Foreigner, who do have the scream in their performance, i feel.

Okay, we have arrived at Foreigner to Mariah to Gabriel. This is my next fav, if I had to put them in some order that is always changing? Yes, I love the spectacular whistle notes at the end but the part that gets me the most is the 2nd chorus when he is following the backup singers and he does that “Please”? It is a pleading sound, totally believable and relatable. It seems my journey with Gabriel is enjoying it all but finding those special moments where I go, I believe you dude and I am pulling for you? This is not an easy song in the first place and Gabriel just makes it look so easy. Spectacular!❤️

Gabriel Henrique is a simple and shy young man. He never took singing lessons, he learned to sing by listening to famous people. And he was challenged to prove that he could sing outside the studio and without a microphone. I think it's absurd, but he accepted the challenge.
