I really like how the beat is very fast and something you would DEFINETLY not hear in an old viking shanty. It really gives a special touch!

"she can wait" 😂 shout out to #QoFy for being us this whole time, priorities sorted. *long comment comming* Being a Patreon of those guys as well I can tell you they really went into it as they showed it in the BTS video, esp. Eli explained some tricks about even getting the correct light, the fire in Geoff's parts etc. But nope, they haven't been at those places, sadly 😁 I am obsessed with this. I use this word very often when talking about VoicePlay but heck, who cares, it's just like that. The song itself is amazing, their looks are ughhhh, so so good, I would love to have them like this in some show or whatever to see them more often, I just can't get enough. I love their acting, Eli was phenomenal. It's not just singing, it's story telling, getting in with the mood. You gave them "he looks like" stories and I have to confess, from all the listening and watching I came with my own characters for them. I know that no one care, but I am gonna put it here as well, 'cause I can. For me, Eli is a scary Warrior ready to go to the battle in the first line, Layne is the Leader of the clan who just single-handedly won a battle over hundred men, J.None looks like a manipulating Sorcerer who can make you do whatever he pleases, you know, I never played Horizon so I don't know, Jose is like the cunning Trickster whom you shouldn't trust any story and Geoff looks like a god of fire, which makes so much sense to me now, as the norse god of fire is none other than Loki himself, my other biggest obsession. I unintendedly compared Geoff to Loki and I am so satisfied with it. I really enjoy how Layne is abusing Geoff's voice in this, like, no chill the whole time, but on the other hand, Layne himsefl got no chill here as well. I actually like the fact that Jose was like a fifth member, not like a guest. I mean, he blend between them like he was there all the time. I totally get what you mean, he didn't get the "here come my time to shine, enjoy my voice now" he was more like "I am a fifth member now" and I guess both is good and I can appreciate both. Thank you for the reaction, I really appreciate your honesty and how you got all the details which I could miss ❤️

Definitely subharmonic. I've noticed that in my headphones, it almost sounds like an overtone from the octave above when Geoff hits subharmonic notes vs chest notes. Also, if you can listen closely, you can hear the 'breathiness' that he talks about 'eq-ing out' in his How to Sing Really Low video.

Ive been awaiting this vid of theirs for a long time, ever since Geoff posted a pic of him in this makeup on Instagram and someone predicted in the comments that it was gonna be this song. AND THEY SURE DELIVERED! The original song comes all the way back from the Viking age, but the most popular modern interpretation is by Perły i Łotry (translates to Pearls and Scoundrels), a band from my country (Poland), that do acapella folk music and shanties. And funnily enough, yesterday i found out that one of the bands members is also a member of the Polish Parliament so that was surprising 😆

Those F1's (Super low notes) were Subharmonic, but he projected a chest Bb1 (the moment where he sang out a long low note for a while) and he hit a G1 in chest here too... At the end before he hit F1 in Subharmonics at the end

Oh my! There are times when I personally don't care for certain arrangements or feel that Geoff and his glorious rumblings are overused. This isn't one of those times. His tones were not only heard, but felt! I could actually feel the vibrations going through me. Geoff is amazing in his ability to not only hit those notes, but to sustain them and if there are words, you can understand them!

It seems like the core group is Layne, Geoff and Eli, but I love the way they are able to make other singers so integral that there is no Voiceplay (at least in this piece) without every one of them. So I guess I kind of beg to differ-I loved how Jose folded into Voiceplay rather than making them his background singers, and I love the way they made him such a part of the group that the song wouldn’t work without him

Maybe you should view Jose’s presentation as a possible audition for the tenor who left recently. I’m probably way off base, but just a possibility.
